The power of a nuclear explosion is undeniably terrifying, but before it detonates, it isn't as frightening; it's merely the force within the bomb that is on the verge of being unleashed.
This is completely different from a bomb that has already exploded.
Even so, Zheng Yifan's Storage Space was turned upside down by the inertia of the nuclear bomb and the thrust of its propulsion system, causing many supplies to go up in flames. Fortunately, it did not detonate.
Or perhaps Jin Fatty didn't even know if it could explode, but in the end, a nuclear leak would be disgusting enough.
"Damn it!" Zheng Yifan shouted loudly, channeling all his strength into the Storage Space to stabilize the unstable forces. He maximized the power of time within the Storage Space to keep everything still.
Inside, the nuclear bomb was at rest; there would definitely be no problems. The real issue arose when it was taken out.
More importantly, this was a nuclear bomb that could explode at any moment. If it detonated inside the Storage Space, Zheng Yifan couldn't even imagine what kind of situation that would create.
It would probably be enough to leave him in a dire state.
As time passed minute by minute, after about ten minutes, the entire Storage Space finally returned to calm. The powers of time and space worked together to smooth everything out.
"Ah!" He let out a deep breath, feeling utterly drained—more exhausting than battling for three hundred rounds.
In the end, he could only slowly stretch his body to ease himself.
However, just stretching made him feel the exhaustion in his body; his wings fluttered like a bird's but lacked the strength for swift movement.
These past few days had been incredibly unfortunate. Encountering an unreasonable monster like a Basilisk in the Apocalyptic World and then returning to reality only to be greeted with a nuclear bomb thrown across from Jiang was just too much.
He really didn't know if he was just unlucky or if he truly needed to take a good rest.
He wished he could find a place away from both nuclear bombs and zombies to relax.
Unfortunately, there were still a ton of troubles waiting for him.
Just like now, his communication device began to ring.
Every time he returned to reality, Zheng Yifan would take out his phone. The familiar voice of Berry came through the line. This fellow had become quite fluent in Mandarin lately and even had a hint of a Beijing accent.
“Boss. Ancheng has experienced an unidentified missile attack. What on earth is that? Did you manage to intercept it?” Berry's voice was filled with excitement.
What kind of monster is my Boss? A green giant? Or Superman?
No way, it can't be a green giant; it feels more like a god. Because right now, on the communication device in his hand, there are photos taken by satellites, as well as images from street surveillance cameras.
It was clear to see that my Boss had caught that bomb and then instantly made it disappear from his hand.
This is divine!
It completely surpassed his imagination.
“Don't be so surprised; you will all have such power in the future. Investigate! Thoroughly investigate who threw that nuclear bomb, and once we find out, arrange for the army to flush them out.” Zheng Yifan's words were cold and indifferent.
This was a provocation and an absolutely intolerable act of throwing weapons of mass destruction into a city.
And it's a nuclear bomb. Missiles are easier to intercept, but what if it were some kind of biochemical weapon? That would be catastrophic.
One must understand that the real lethality of nuclear bombs is not very high in terms of cost-effectiveness, while biochemical weapons have immense destructive power and pose a significant threat.
Even if a Superpowered Individual hasn't reached the Fourth Stage or above, it's useless. That stuff does nothing against Zombies; it's far more effective against humans.
Humans might be most capable when dealing with their own kind; otherwise, we would have already entered the interstellar age. Of course, it could also be because the developmental axis of the world is almost synchronized with the Apocalyptic World. The technological development timeline on the other side hasn't progressed, and in reality, no matter how hard one tries, development is impossible.
This is the gap. One main and one auxiliary; the Main World will always support the auxiliary worlds.
“Boss, according to feedback from the Intelligent Core, it was launched from across the river in the New Continent. The launch site is a satellite launch facility, mostly located deep within the mountains.”
“Are we really going to deal with them? That country's air raid shelters have almost hollowed out their entire mountain range. They're like a bunch of moles; if we really attack them, it would be no different than whacking moles. The most disgusting part is that once we enter their base, they will completely control the situation.” Berry explained.
This is the least cost-effective thing to do. They have already dealt with everything on the surface, but those underground remain unresolved.
There's nothing to be done; they are too insidious. Originally thought they were all wiped out, but now it seems their secrecy measures are quite effective. No matter who they are, they have already gone underground and there’s no satellite signal whatsoever.
This can be understood; they never had such high-end goods as satellites in the first place.
They could only slowly wear them down, forcing them out with food was the best plan.
However, Zheng Yifan couldn't stay in Ancheng all the time. Who knew when they would launch another missile and make things difficult for themselves?
It was truly infuriating. The tunnel warfare was hastily constructed, while their opponents had spent generations perfecting theirs. Once they entered, it was all underground structures—truly frustrating.
There was no choice; Zheng Yifan could only have Berry implement a backup plan: "Even if we can't eliminate them, we can monitor them. Keep missiles ready at all times; if any of them show themselves, blow them up. Ground units should search for ventilation shafts while looking for zombies; if they find any, seal them off. If that fails, locate their current launch positions and take them out, while also deploying interception missiles within their territory. As soon as a missile is launched, intercept it."
This was a desperate measure, utterly exasperating. Anyone facing such an enemy would be driven to despair.
There was no way around it; this was the enemy's tactic, and he had to respond. So what if he was a superpowered individual? He couldn't sense the presence of humans living dozens or even hundreds of meters underground.
Perhaps others in the Gathering Place could manage that. But they couldn't come into the real world.
Of course, he could spend months using the Avatar of the Believers to track those people down. But he didn't have the time; playing whack-a-mole for months would be exhausting. Most importantly, actions in the Apocalyptic World relied on him as a spearhead—the port of Sea City had already been targeted for takeover, and capturing the entire district was on the agenda.
Taking Deep City had also become a goal; that Sun God Zombie still needed to be dealt with.
To be honest, he didn't have much confidence himself; that thing was terrifying. He could only take it one step at a time. (To be continued...)
