"I have a donkey, but I never ride it. Instead, I ride a white horse to the market!" A voice sang out in a wild tune along the country road, irritating the Survivors lurking on either side, waiting to attract Zombies and obtain Zombie Fluid.
The land on both sides of the street was fertile for farming.
But this person was utterly disgusting, flaunting himself on a white horse as he paraded through the streets.
Zheng Yifan had no remorse whatsoever. He continued to sing.
The white horse beneath him neighed and shook its head, its long face looking even longer than that of a donkey.
It had protested before, but to no avail; Zheng Yifan had suppressed it by force, and now it obediently walked without causing any more trouble.
Resigned, it trotted along the road. Ahead lay Totenburg, his new old nest. So much had happened in such a short time. It was truly exhilarating. To be honest, while life in the real world felt long, it lacked the thrill of the Apocalyptic World, where battles were endless and conquests never ceased.
This was a man's world. In the real world, time could dull one's fighting spirit.
However, he still intended to return soon to check on progress; he had a feeling that the boundary between the two worlds was about to merge.
"Buzzing!" Before he reached Totenburg, several cars sped toward him at an incredible pace, definitely exceeding one hundred miles per hour. The vehicles in this apocalypse were surprisingly durable; otherwise, such efficiency would be impossible.
The white horse paid no attention to the cars and continued walking down the center of the road.
To him, the cars were moving too slowly; he could easily overtake them, and their combat power was not even comparable.
Despite being a white horse, it was still a beast capable of kicking down an elephant in this Post-Apocalypse. Dealing with Third-Stage Zombies was a piece of cake.
Fortunately for him, those cars didn't give him any chance; they began to slow down several dozen meters ahead of Zheng Yifan and came to a stop right in front of him.
"Cough cough!" As soon as the car halted, Han Rui, that foolish woman, rushed forward and wrapped her arms around Zheng Yifan's thigh. The people following behind her wore excited expressions on their faces.
"Don't be like that, don't be like that. It's just a stroll around, right? Look, I even brought back a white horse," Zheng Yifan said helplessly.
Then he witnessed an awkward scene. The white horse beneath him seemed to have transformed; its mouth was wide open, and its tongue was licking Han Rui's face repeatedly, its entire head pressed against her ample bosom.
"Smack!"
"You rascal, that's my woman!" The horse, oblivious to the situation, had just returned and already started behaving so lewdly. What Zheng Yifan couldn't tolerate the most was...
Han Rui was affectionately cradling the horse's head in her arms.
"Good boy!" Han Rui's words made Zheng Yifan break into a sweat.
This creature was anything but good; it was clearly a lewd horse.
"Smack, smack!" After a few hard slaps, Zheng Yifan felt slightly better.
"Lecherous horse, get moving! Otherwise, you'll go hungry all night!" He followed up with another round of vigorous slapping.
It seemed that Zheng Yifan had managed to tame it. Otherwise, this white horse would have bolted long ago. Those slaps were no joke; they had made the horse's head spin.
"Hmph!" The white horse looked dejectedly at Han Rui, tears welling in its eyes.
"Don't cry, baby. I'll prepare a feast for you tonight. You won't go hungry!" Han Rui continued to tenderly stroke the horse's mane.
Zheng Yifan was left speechless and could only resign himself to the situation.
In matters like this, he really couldn't compete with his woman. He could only hang his head and say, "Let's go, let's go! Back to the city; we still have things to discuss. This lecherous horse will be locked in the yard behind. When the opportunity arises, I'll find it a hundred or so mares!"
Hmph! You dare to mess around with my woman? I'll find you a hundred wives, and leave you exhausted and lifeless.
"Chomp chomp!" Perhaps it was the news of Zheng Yifan looking for a wife that had him so giddy, as he excitedly kicked his legs in the air.
Meanwhile, Han Rui and the others had already returned to the car, waiting to head back to Totenburg for another meeting.
Zheng Yifan was already discussing matters for the upcoming meeting.
They wouldn't waste any time.
With the car leading the way, Zheng Yifan rode his white horse, which trotted along steadily behind. The horse's legs were kicking up dust, but it moved at a leisurely pace. Clearly, this speed was nothing to it.
Totenburg had completely transformed. The entire Management Team was undergoing integration. There were far fewer departments than during the Post-Apocalypse, as many had proven unnecessary.
Even intelligence personnel were scarce; only Old Hou had managed to form a small organization. Their numbers were limited, and they had ventured north to gather information.
The main goal was not to obtain specific details but to understand which enemies needed to be eliminated and how to incorporate those Gathering Places.
This was the most important task.
Whether through soft persuasion or iron-fisted tactics depended on their previous attitudes and policies.
In Totenburg, the streets were bustling with life; no longer were sickly people sitting idly by waiting for death.
Rows of workers stood in line for Relief Food. They lacked food supplies, but each person held a card indicating their Work Points.
These Work Points could be used in emergencies but could not be traded. In other words, they were prohibited from using this Currency for business until their current employment period ended; only then would these points be converted into New Hope Currency.
The promotion of the Gathering Place and New Hope Currency was quite thorough. Barter could not be exchanged for many items, while New Hope Currency could buy anything.
In the Gathering Place, the official way to make purchases was either with New Hope Currency or by using Work Points.
Work Points were something that could be earned by those selling their labor.
Other capable or ambitious individuals had to use New Hope Currency.
If you wanted to stock up, you needed to use this currency. The goods at Hope Gathering Place were incredibly rare and diverse. With thousands of types of products and millions of branches beneath them, it was simply unmatched by any other Gathering Place.
As cars sped by in front, Zheng Yifan's white horse followed closely behind.
The entire Gathering Place began to buzz with discussion. They were no longer like before; freedom of speech was now implemented in Totenburg. A common citizen could say anything, as long as they were not a public figure.
They needed to take responsibility for their words, but Common Survivors did not.
"Hey! Look at those luxury cars up ahead. Wow! Everything in the Post-Apocalypse is expensive; I've never seen anything like it. Even in the end times, there are so many!"
"Dude! Are you out of your mind? Sure, there are cars in the Post-Apocalypse, but those riding horses are even more impressive! This is the end times; do you really think the horses now are still from the Post-Apocalypse?!" (To be continued.)
