"Master Designers, have you finished your designs yet? It's been a week, and all you've done is draw and continuously demolish the old buildings. Are you really designing a city?" In the center of Ancheng, a Fifth Level follower, a Superpowered Individual, complained while trailing behind several Master Designers.
These masters had entered the city with gleaming eyes and immediately began their frenzied designs, constantly bickering and arguing among themselves, each hoping their design would be the best.
Since this was a Holy City, it needed its own unique characteristics. The Superpowers of the followers provided them with great inspiration, while the Zombie Crystal s supplied by the Hope Group gave them the strength to create.
This was not merely a city for living; it had to possess a certain power. Just like the special Superpowered Individuals among the designers, they were all experts in Design Formation, specializing in Inscription and runes.
Their primary goal was to ensure that certain Mutated Plants continued to thrive within the city while fully utilizing space to construct a magnificent urban landscape.
This was inevitable; they had long anticipated the completion of this city. In their hearts, it represented their greatest dream.
In the Post-Apocalypse era, they could only design a single building, often collaborating with many others on just one structure. But now? They finally had their chance.
Did you hear that? This is a city, a Holy City, where every blade of grass and tree will become a historic site—a true monument.
And they, these designers, would even be able to leave their names on the surface of a street once the city was completed.
That street would be the one leading into the city; it was a promise made by the leader. Every contributor to this city's success would have their name inscribed along that road, waiting for the triumphant return of their comrades.
Regardless of whether their names would be trampled underfoot, they still looked forward to it.
After all, this wasn't ancient times anymore; names carved into the ground could now be preserved. They were ready to use high-strength glass as pavement and engrave their names beneath it.
This would ensure the safety of their names, preventing them from being scratched or damaged. And when the glass tiles above eventually wore out, they could simply replace them.
Current technology could fully support such an endeavor; pure glass tiles could reach a thickness of one meter while ensuring considerable strength and durability.
The sturdiness surpassed that of ordinary bricks by far.
After all, beneath were merely bricks engraved with names, which wouldn't even have hollow sections. The construction difficulty had been significantly reduced.
Now, the main focus was to build the Holy City while protecting those plants. They initially wanted to reference the Vatican for inspiration.
Unfortunately, that idea was quickly dismissed; it belonged to the Holy See. If they merely imitated them, wouldn’t that be plagiarism?
Building the Holy City is about creating one's own Holy City; why would anyone want to copy someone else's?
Moreover, the technology today is different, and the design requirements have become more demanding.
More importantly, the height needs to be significantly increased.
The entire city must not only look good but also be practical. Ancheng is not a very large city and cannot accommodate tens of millions of people, so high-rise buildings will have to be the solution, leading to a proliferation of skyscrapers.
However, how to give these skyscrapers their own unique characteristics is something they need to consider.
For now, these individuals still need to take their time with the design, but the specific implementation has already reached its initial stages. This means that construction on the outermost buildings can begin, as the outer layer consists of city walls. To deal with zombies, walls are essential. Unlike modern times, they must contend with both zombies and wild beasts.
Having walls provides the best protection and ensures a safe living environment for humanity.
No one wants wild beasts crashing in during the night and disrupting their lives.
Thus, the towering city wall area has been planned out, encompassing nearly all usable regions, connecting the entire city from the tail end of the Ushumar Mountains to almost touching the coastline of another town.
A wall must be built in front of this town because there are still quite a few zombies there. The superpowered individuals of Ancheng have not yet engaged them, as the number of zombies continues to grow, with many running there to battle sea beasts.
Those sea beasts are also relentlessly pushing upward.
This balance is something no one dares to disrupt; if zombies wipe out the sea beasts, who will stand against them?
Therefore, arrangements have been made to use walls along the coastline. More importantly, between the walls and the coastline, they have set up a Dehydration Zone.
This area will be transformed into a drought zone. Although there will be green belts near the walls, from the green belt to the coastline, it will be converted into a semi-desert area.
In other words, they will first create a semi-desert zone to give sea beasts an unforgettable desert experience before allowing them to enter combat.
The green belts ensure safety within the city; plants will be used for protection. Some aggressive mutated plants will be planted to prevent soil erosion and protect the walls while also providing offensive capabilities.
In the future, people will only be able to enter through city gates. They do not wish to set up moats or similar defenses; instead, an area centered around mutated plants will serve as a protective zone outside. This protective zone will require constant trimming and maintenance, utilizing machinery to keep those mutated plants in check at all times.
Destroying the Mutated Plants that pose a threat to human survival is essential.
They need Mutated Plants, but they must also control the evolution of Mutated Plants. The Fourth Stage Mutated Plants are still manageable. However, once they surpass the Fifth Level, who can handle them? They will have to fight those Mutated Plants to eliminate them.
Therefore, ensuring that the Mutated Plants remain at a certain level is crucial. With this in mind, Urban Construction can proceed as planned. The City Brick used for the walls is different from the old Ancient City Wall. The technology for the old Ancient City Wall's City Brick was outdated.
What about the current City Brick? It is practically a work of art, resembling hard stone rather than mere bricks.
These are not loose soil materials; they are hard City Bricks that feel as solid as glass.
This is what matters most. The technology from the Hope Gathering Laboratory produces City Bricks that look like marble, but their actual hardness exceeds that significantly, and their toughness is even better.
The only drawback might be that they cost ten times more than ordinary bricks.
But that's alright; the Hope Gathering Place truly has no shortage of labor and resources.
Because in the future, there will be many Survivors, and the issue of housing has always been a headache. As for resources?
Those can simply be taken from conquered cities at will. (To be continued)
