"Boom!" Without any warning, the strange insect exploded violently, creating a mushroom cloud that filled the air with a deafening roar.
Wang Qi's body slumped to the ground, motionless. Zheng Yifan walked over and picked up Wang Qi, slowly making his way back to the city. It had already been mostly cleared out.
Behind them, one by one, the Avatars of the Believers appeared. These avatars would go on to eliminate the remaining members of the Seven Legion.
No matter the reason, those who had committed such heinous acts left no room for leniency.
The situation now was different from when the apocalypse first began; back then, he had no subordinates! Everyone was eager to gather under his command.
Now, although many of those people had become warriors in the Gathering Place, their character was not particularly good. None had entered critical positions; they were all basic fighters. The battles in Hope Gathering Place were frequent, and their numbers were continuously dwindling.
It wouldn't take long before natural selection would lead to many of them being eliminated.
Those without any organizational ability, who disobeyed orders and lacked teamwork skills, were merely a group of ruffians. Only under the strong deterrence of Hope Gathering would they truly behave and work to earn resources.
Zheng Yifan now had the means to enforce survival of the fittest. Ordinary people suited him better; they had little ambition and wouldn’t cause trouble. Before the world was unified, there would be plenty of chaos. He certainly did not want to find himself dealing with more troublesome issues in the end.
After settling Wang Qi down, he prepared a large amount of food, all high in calories. These foods would replenish his energy, despite being full of impurities. However, Zheng Yifan had endured through similar circumstances before.
Wang Qi, this Fellow, was likely to become chubby again. His body was naturally inclined to absorb nutrients, and after experiencing such a setback, he would undoubtedly go on a frenzy to store up nourishment.
However, he would no longer become a Chad; his future was filled with sunshine.
Zheng Yifan had cleaned up the entire base and had already found their headquarters, naturally leaving the task of cleaning to another Avatar of the Believers.
At this moment, he didn’t care; there was only one person who could handle these matters. What if he turned the entire city upside down?
After all, it was the Avatar of the Believers doing it, and he was currently on the phone.
Even after conquering the entire city, there were still troubling issues; not having enough manpower for the occupation was the most distressing problem.
Without the support of the population and without an Administrator, managing the entire city would be impossible.
He needed an Administrator now. This aspect required Berry's support.
“Hello! Boss, this country of Japan is absolutely insane! They are actually fighting zombies with katanas. Many cities have already been taken at the cost of human lives. What about these remaining samurai? They are great at killing, but they are too unruly and bloodthirsty; it’s either death or serious injury for anyone who doesn’t obey!” Berry complained incessantly when he received the call.
Zheng Yifan felt his head spinning; this country had gone mad. Fighting zombies with katanas had a casualty rate of at least two to one. Katanas were meant for dealing with zombies. Slashing was useless; only stabbing worked. However, the force behind a katana's stab to the head was too weak. It would be better to use a spear. Even a bamboo spear would be much stronger than using a katana.
“Handle it yourself. Kill anyone who doesn’t obey, even if it means keeping it from the public. Just make them disappear; everything is up to you. I’m facing some trouble here and need support from headquarters,” Zheng Yifan said helplessly, waving his hand before speaking seriously.
“What’s wrong, Boss? Are there rebels in your country too? Or can’t you conquer it? Boss! You can’t be serious about going alone to conquer a country and take down a stronghold; that’s just a joke,” Berry said, extremely frustrated.
How they wished to perform well in front of their Boss! They had recorded all the battles themselves; they didn’t know where those recordings came from, and their heads were filled with confusion. However, they frequently received footage of battles that provided them with enough reports.
The news that Zheng Yifan had called to inform them of trouble back home sent a chill down their spines. It had to be serious; could it be that an even more formidable Zombie had emerged?
Just the thought of it made them uneasy. The Zombies were already incredibly powerful, and their evolution varied in strength. Surely, there must be some strong Zombies within Huaxia Nation as well. If they managed to break through the barrier, would there be even more terrifying Zombies? They dared not speculate, as the idea was simply too horrifying.
"That's not the case at all. It's quite safe here. We've just taken over a city, but we lack a solid Administrator. There's really no one to manage things; the entire city is paralyzed, with no one to organize or oversee anything. Do you have any talented individuals over there? Bring over about ten or twenty thousand!" Zheng Yifan said nonchalantly.
Berry held his head in frustration.
Talented individuals? It wasn't that easy to find them. They had trained some before, but they were all in the capital. In this remote place like Anton, they didn't have anyone of their own. Berry sighed helplessly, "We do have some Administrators, but we can't fill an entire nation with them. At most, we can muster around two thousand people, and that's from recent years of training. But they've all been sent to you, and we can't manage Japan either."
"Even if we combine everyone, we can only manage this small area of Japan and Australia without too many issues. Huaxia Nation is vast and populous; that's a significant problem. I can send a team of zero people; you need to arrange things first and then train new talent?" Berry concluded with a sense of helplessness.
Training talent was simple in theory, but where could they find such individuals? Universities were gone, and those with real management experience were too risky to employ back home; anyone they hired would likely bring their old bad habits along.
In the end, Zheng Yifan gritted his teeth in frustration. Since managing things this way was impossible, he decided to let Eve take charge as the overall manager while the subordinates monitored everything through surveillance. They would gradually train those university students.
Learning while working would help them adapt over a few months, and after several years of training, this group would eventually be refined into capable individuals.
And what about those university students? They were certainly sharp-minded individuals. Mao the Great Ancestor had started with nothing but managed to support an entire nation with just a group of Mudbugs!
