When Zheng Yifan emerged from the ruined room, he resembled a birdman, his wings unfurling behind him and flapping continuously.
He was trying to see how to use his wings. Yet, everything felt so natural, as if he had been born with them. There was no awkwardness that came from suddenly having wings; it was an innate sensation. He could feel all the power within him under his control, and the wings danced beside his body.
The strongest part of Zheng Yifan's body was his hands. He now felt an endless surge of strength; his Vital Energy and Superpower had both increased significantly. The Power of Faith could truly be unleashed, and all his Vital Energy began to transform into Power of Faith, converging into one source of strength. Now it all belonged to him; it was no longer about using someone else's power.
Using one's own abilities felt genuinely effortless. His strength could be fully exerted.
He lightly clenched his fists, and even when he exerted himself completely, his body did not crumble. He did not crush his own fingers; instead, he felt his bones and muscles becoming even stronger.
“Roar!” The sounds of Zombies echoed around him, the furious roars of those angered by the missile bombardment. Though they could not deal with the aircraft in the sky, they had found ways to confront the missiles. They resembled warriors from a superhero movie, wielding their weapons against the missiles.
In mid-air, those Zombies leaped up and sliced through bombs with arms like sharp blades. Even when some detonated prematurely, most remained inert.
At this point in the battle, the true ferocity of the Zombies became evident.
These Zombies were beyond what ordinary firearms could handle. The Apocalyptic World was not like the real world filled with Low-Level Zombies; facing these Advanced Zombies required more brutal methods to take them down.
That meant greater strength.
As Zheng Yifan stepped outside, he immediately caught the attention of the Zombies. They remembered that hated scent all too well. It wasn't their mediocre intelligence that allowed them to sense Zheng Yifan's presence instantly; it was their instinct driving them madly to search for him.
In the blink of an eye, they spotted Zheng Yifan.
He had already charged into the center of the arena, surrounded by ruins. The ground bore faint traces of what seemed to be overturned debris, the destructive power of the bombs fully unleashed upon the surface. The number of Zombie Crystal s was pitifully low.
But just moments ago, Zheng Yifan had been saved by these very bombs; otherwise, if that Zombie had caught him, it would have been a swift end. Just a moment ago, he had been unable to move, completely at their mercy. But now, he was eager to fight back against the Zombie.
As he stood in the arena, the battle was declared to have begun. The shattered remnants on the ground posed no obstacle to the Zombies; they were merely agitated by the earlier explosions.
Upon seeing Zheng Yifan, the Zombies regarded him as a sworn enemy. With a fierce glare, one lunged forward, its Bone Knife slicing through the air with alarming speed.
When speed reaches its limit, the power of an attack becomes overwhelmingly fierce. Just like the Zombie before him, its assault was terrifyingly intense.
Zheng Yifan met the oncoming Zombie with his Adamantium Shield. To fight such a creature, he had to withstand its attacks head-on. Dodging was out of the question; their attack speed was horrifying. If he tried to evade, they would strike him countless times in an instant. The only way to gain a moment's pause was to endure the first blow and let the resulting force create a brief opening.
That fleeting moment of hesitation was what Zheng Yifan needed.
“Clang!” The familiar sharp sound echoed as Zheng Yifan felt as if his heart were bleeding. The Zombie’s attack struck hard enough to inflict damage on his Adamantium Shield. Although it left only a minor wound, it pained him deeply; after all, there was no place to replace or repair it. Once damaged, it would truly be broken—any harm would be permanent.
Yet he had no choice but to do this; he had to block because there were no alternatives.
As he faced the Zombie's assault, Zheng Yifan prepared for his next move. He gripped the middle section of his Silver Spear with his right hand, not wielding it like a double-handed weapon but rather advancing as if it were an ordinary thrust. His right hand thrust the Silver Spear forward without any embellishment.
The Zombie opposite him seemed incapable of defense; it could only attack. At the moment Zheng Yifan struck, its arms came slashing down with such speed that they were nearly invisible. However, Zheng Yifan had reached Sixth Tier strength and could sense that speed and see its trajectory well enough to block its attacks.
Though the Zombie's strikes were fast, they followed a predictable pattern. With increased speed came limited angles and directions for attack; there was only so much space available for its strikes. If it aimed elsewhere, its speed would naturally decrease.
At the moment Zheng Yifan blocked the attack, as the Silver Spear thrust forward, his body suddenly jolted, and his wings behind him flapped once.
It was entirely instinctive; as he stirred his wings, he felt a fierce wind surge behind him, propelling his body forward with tremendous force. The right hand wielding the Silver Spear pierced through what felt like a layer of paper.
However, looking ahead, Zheng Yifan realized he had created a large hole in the Zombie's body.
That was the Zombie's spine. The target was no longer its neck, as the angle of attack simply did not allow for it.
Instead, Zheng Yifan had pierced through the Zombie's chest spine, leaving it with only its arms and head able to move, while the rest of its body was rendered uncontrollable.
No matter how formidable a Zombie might be, it was still a transformation of a human. They had not yet surpassed the limitations of human spinal communication and bodily control. After being attacked, it collapsed to the ground, waiting for Zheng Yifan to turn his body and sweep the Adamantium Shield along the Zombie's neck.
As everything settled, the Zombie's head was severed by Zheng Yifan. Then, with his right hand, he thrust the Silver Spear through the Zombie's head as if skewering candied fruit. He then saw a translucent Zombie Crystal slowly emerge from the green corpse liquid. With a flick of his Silver Spear, he collected it into his Storage Space.
Next, he would face even more Zombies that would be harder to deal with. He had just killed one, and during this time, it seemed that the number of Zombies here had begun to dwindle. However, there were still four or five formidable Zombies that needed to be eliminated. (To be continued...)
