Flames flickered and the sun seemed to shift, as if two suns had appeared in the sky. Outside, the Metal Mantis Zombies began to writhe grotesquely, droplets of golden liquid falling to the ground, prompting a surge of Mutated Plants. This place was destined to become an ocean of Mutated Plants.
The Giant Mother Zombie roared madly, its cries echoing with desperation! It was a struggle for survival, its strength slipping uncontrollably away as its body gradually transformed into Zombie Fluid, which fell to the ground and was immediately absorbed by the earth.
Zheng Yifan could not witness the death of the Giant Mother Zombie; he could only feel the onslaught of a torrential downpour. The entire body of the Giant Mother Zombie had turned into Zombie Fluid, an immense quantity that transformed the surrounding land into a lush green, not to mention its formidable power.
Throughout it all, the Metal Mantis Zombies had not unleashed any attacks. Yet Zheng Yifan was certain he was no match for them. Victory was out of reach.
That was the last resort of the Giant Mother Zombie, though it had ended before he even saw it.
Wars never allowed enemies to use all their means; most of the time, victory or defeat was decided long before the final clash.
If both sides truly unleashed their full power, it would only happen in movies or television dramas.
Otherwise, it would be impossible for a war to drag on for so long. In a life-and-death struggle, from the very beginning, one side would be doomed.
Zheng Yifan had not witnessed that overwhelming combat power and did not wish to know. He only wanted to drag his weary body back to his team.
Like a hero returning home, he stumbled forward, no one offering support. In everyone's eyes remained only a final respect, their admiration burning even brighter.
"I’m back!" It was just a simple statement, yet Zheng Yifan had exhausted nearly all his strength. His body felt like a rag doll, blood slowly seeping from his abdomen. His Vital Energy could no longer fully seal his wounds; he had used up all his Superpower and drained his stamina. Continuing to fight was impossible. Yet his body still trudged wearily toward his comrades.
Now even a First Level Zombie could take him down. Unfortunately, those Ordinary Zombies had completely become nourishment for the Giant Mother Zombie; many Zombies in the Factory Area had already been transformed into Plant Zombies, leaving not even a single First Level Zombie to finish off Zheng Yifan.
There were so many warriors on the other side.
That was something that could never happen.
Han Rui stood at the back of the crowd, tears welling in her eyes as she looked at Zheng Yifan, her hero. In that moment, she felt overwhelmed with emotion, and tears flowed uncontrollably down her cheeks. He was an ordinary man, yet she still remembered how he had saved her in her time of need and how he had cared for her with such attention.
The initial supplies were the most precious resources, even more valuable than life itself. Yet Zheng Yifan had unhesitatingly shared the most valuable things with them, distributing supplies generously. Now, Zheng Yifan's weary body could no longer fight; he needed to rest—a long rest.
It could be one day, or perhaps a week, even a month.
Everyone could see that Zheng Yifan's body had reached its limit. They were just waiting for their hero to return.
Sure enough, after waiting for a few minutes, Zheng Yifan walked to the center of the group and slowly sat on the hood of the front car. He quietly lit a broken cigarette and took two deep puffs.
"Who can sew this up for me?"
