Time seemed to stretch on for a century as Mark and the others sat in Merlin's office, watching the old man in the Virtual Helmet bounce around with a mix of amusement and disbelief. 0

"Boss, how much longer is this guy going to play?" Tiamat asked, nearly in tears. 0

It had been almost half an hour since Merlin entered the game. Come on, they understood the allure of the virtual world, but he still had guests to entertain! 0

Merlin was completely engrossed in his game of chicken, leaving Tiamat and the others no choice but to ask Mark for a solution. 0

Mark held up his phone, helplessly pointing at the data displayed on it. "Look, this old guy has somehow survived until the end of a match. We're already in the final circle. If he takes out the remaining four robots, he'll win." 0

"How is that even possible?" Tiamat exclaimed in panic. 0

This PUBG was a newly launched project. Although these robots had simple logic, they were not something an elderly man who had never played PUBG could handle. 0

Mark rubbed his head and said, "No, no, no. I think you’ve forgotten something. This isn’t a traditional game where you fight with a mouse and keyboard; it’s a perfectly realistic virtual world. In this kind of environment, nothing is impossible. I’m starting to suspect that Merlin used to be a soldier—maybe even a sniper." 0

As he spoke, Mark connected his phone to display real-time footage from the virtual world. Tiamat immediately saw Merlin expertly wielding a 98k like it was an extension of himself. 0

"Impressive!" Even Tiamat couldn’t help but admire such skill. 0

It seemed clear now that Merlin's success up to this point was closely tied to his past military experience. 0

However, in an instant, Tiamat thought of another possibility. He turned to Mark and asked, "Boss, does this mean our game is essentially ruined? The average player doesn’t have that kind of expertise; can they really enjoy the game?" 0

"Expertise? No, no, no. Our PUBG has no real professionalism involved. To players, it might feel just like actual live-fire shooting, but to professionals, it’s nothing more than a childish pastime." 0

Mark sighed. "It's also thanks to Merlin being older now; while his shooting instincts are still there, his reflexes can’t keep up with his awareness. If he were on a battlefield, he probably wouldn’t last three seconds. But in this game where awareness matters more than reflexes, he’s unbeatable." 0

"Is he really as amazing as you say?" Tiamat asked, a hint of skepticism in his voice. 0

This wasn't like the special forces; if a special forces soldier entered PUBG, Tiamat would believe it. As for Merlin, he had his doubts. 0

"Of course it's true. In our PUBG, the most suitable players are these retired soldiers. Their awareness is still there, but their reactions might not be as quick. This is an incredibly strong foundation. I dare to predict that in the future, eight or nine out of ten professional PUBG players will come from a military background," Mark declared confidently. 0

"They may not be the strongest, but they are definitely the most suited for PUBG." 0

Mark's words immediately caused a stir in Tiamat. 0

He hadn't expected Mark to have such a long-term vision for the future. 0

"However, right now, our future Deity is facing a bit of a problem..." Mark chuckled slyly. 0

Tiamat leaned in for a closer look and shook his head. "There are still four enemies left, and he only has two bullets left in his 98k. He won't get first place!" 0

"Not necessarily. Just look at what he has!" Mark replied with a grin. 0

Tiamat squinted his eyes, confused. "Okay, even if he still has five grenades, what good will that do?" 0

"Just wait and see! This old guy is no ordinary player!" Mark said with a mysterious smile. 0

In the valley, Merlin was now caught in the midst of a chaotic battle. Unfortunately, as just a sniper, he wasn't very familiar with rifles and thus wasn't carrying any with him. 0

Aside from a Kar98k, there was only a pistol left. 0

However, Merlin felt that was enough; a true sniper always keeps the enemy at bay from a thousand yards away. 0

A rifle? Sorry, what is that? 0

Having a pistol for self-defense made Merlin feel secure. His outstanding performance proved that his choice was not wrong. 0

He took cover behind a rock at the bottom of the valley, continuously taking shots with his sniper rifle. Although the robots were firing back relentlessly, none of their shots managed to hit him. 0

But then an unfortunate situation arose. Caught up in the excitement of shooting, Merlin completely forgot about his ammunition. It was only now that he realized he had only two bullets left for his Kar98k. 0

If there were still three survivors left, Merlin would have thought nothing of having just two bullets. But the problem now was that there were still five survivors, which meant there were four enemies besides him. 0

Two bullets, four enemies? 0

Merlin couldn't help but ponder behind the rock while holding his Kar98k. 0

Soon, he remembered that he had picked up five grenades in his backpack. 0

"Great! This means victory is assured!" Merlin exclaimed excitedly. 0

It wasn't that grenades were useless; it depended on who wielded them. In the hands of Salty Fish, they would probably end up blowing himself up (like me). In the hands of Deity, they would become an unparalleled tool for looting. 0

Not to mention that this was the final circle; although there were fewer people, they were extremely concentrated. Moreover, everyone had a good idea of where their enemies were located. In such a situation, if a grenade was used well, its impact could be tremendous. 0

After dealing with robots for so long, Merlin knew he had to shoot first. 0

Only by firing a shot would the robots detect the trajectory and retaliate. At that moment, it would be Merlin's last chance. 0

He had to shoot, but the question was where to aim. 0

Based on the robots' movement patterns, Merlin decided to fire at the rock he was hiding behind. He intended to lure out the remaining four robots and then throw a grenade to end this game. 0

The sound of his rifle striking the boulder echoed with an unpleasant scraping noise. The surrounding robots peeked out, but they couldn't see Merlin's shadow near the rock. 0

That's how logic programs work; if they couldn't figure out the situation, they would get closer to investigate. 0

Thus, the four robots stealthily approached the boulder, ready to deliver a lethal blow to the ambushing Merlin. 0

The footsteps grew closer, and Merlin could almost hear his own heartbeat. 0

How many years had it been since he felt this exhilarating rush? 0

"Then let's make it a spectacular finale!" With a roar, Merlin threw two grenades at his feet based on the distance of the footsteps behind him. 0

Then, with reckless abandon, he charged forward. 0

The robots quickly noticed Merlin fleeing. They opened fire while chasing after him. 0

The robots' scripted shooting was utterly relentless. In just a few seconds, Merlin's health was reduced to a mere sliver. 0

The toxic zone lay ahead, and with Merlin's remaining health, stepping in would likely mean survival for just a second. 0

Yet, staying put would also lead to death, perhaps even faster. 0

However, just as Merlin took a step toward the toxic zone, a thunderous roar like an earthquake erupted behind him. 0

A grenade exploded! 0

Quad kill!!! 0

“Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!” 0

The congratulatory message on the results page made the old man Merlin smile like a blooming sunflower. 0
