Thinking of this, the Barbarian King felt a wave of frustration. Upholding the tradition of one-on-one combat passed down through generations of Barbarians, he called back the remaining two hundred brothers to the tribe, leaving only a dozen to accompany him. Li Hong stopped Ma Su from saying anything further and curiously asked, "You're the leader of these Barbarians, right? What's your name?"
"Taidamir - Barbarian Er Gou!" the Barbarian King declared proudly.
Every time he stated his name, the Barbarian King felt a sense of superiority. Look at that; our name has an international flair, how impressive!
Li Hong twitched at the corners of his mouth. This Damn it Barbarian King Tadamir? Was this still the Three Kingdoms World? Had something indescribable crashed into it?
After all, this guy was part of his own company; how could Li Hong not know Barbarian King Tadamir? But he never expected how these fellows had ended up in the Three Kingdoms World.
"Alright, Taidamir... would you like to join me?" Li Hong inquired.
Regardless of whether Taidamir was too tall or not, as long as he was powerful, that was enough. Right now, Li Hong lacked nothing but a sense of security. With this guy protecting him, wouldn't that provide an overwhelming sense of safety?
"What’s in it for me? If there’s no benefit, I’m not interested," Taidamir replied gruffly.
His response left Li Hong stunned. He had nothing to offer; what benefits could he possibly provide? Did he have to paint a grand picture to entice him?
"How about this: once we conquer this place, I’ll make you king. How does that sound?" Li Hong tempted.
Ma Su was taken aback. What kind of person was this? Why would Li Hong offer such generous terms? It should be noted that during this era of the Three Kingdoms, being made king was quite a significant honor. Just look at Cao Cao, Sun Quan, and Liu Bei; before they ascended to their thrones, they were merely kings themselves!
The kings of this era still hold significant value. They are not like the random titles given out after the Sui-Tang period, which can hardly be compared.
"I am already a king; what more do I need?" the Barbarian King scoffed.
Li Hong felt a wave of frustration wash over him and explained, "Can you not be so foolish? You claim to rule in a remote valley; how can that compare to a throne that spans thousands of miles?"
The Barbarian King lowered his head in thought, then furrowed his brow and asked, "I don't understand all this. I just want to know, if I become the king you speak of, can I marry Ashe?"
"Who is Ashe?" Ma Su asked curiously.
Li Hong suddenly realized that there were more of these chaotic characters like the Barbarian King around. It seemed even advertisements were popping up now.
"Of course! It's just Ashe; marry as many as you want!" Li Hong declared boldly.
Although Li Hong wasn't entirely confident, when it came to deceiving others, even if he didn't believe it himself, he had to act as if it were true.
It was unclear whether the Barbarian King was genuinely lacking in intelligence or if no one had ever tempted him like this before. In any case, after a few casual words from Li Hong, the Barbarian King eagerly nodded in agreement.
"Wait for me; I need to gather my warriors," Taidamir said to Li Hong.
After discussing briefly, Li Hong and Ma Su agreed to Taidamir's request. The strength of these Barbarian Warriors was not to be underestimated; their addition would only bolster their own power.
Soon, a Barbarian Warrior rode off on the warhorse Li Hong had given him, racing back toward the tribe.
The group didn't have to wait long before hundreds of Barbarian Soldiers arrived, fully armored and ready for action.
Ma Su's personal guards were tense, fearing that the Barbarian King might turn against them at any moment, which would not bode well.
Fortunately, the Barbarian King was indeed a man of his word; whatever Li Hong instructed him to do, he did without hesitation.
Before long, the reorganized troop began advancing toward Chengdu once again.
With the addition of nearly five hundred Barbarian Warriors, along with three hundred of Ma Su's personal guards, the entire force had grown to nearly a thousand strong.
Since they had only brought over three hundred warhorses when they left, the influx of Barbarian Warriors meant that there were not enough horses to go around. Fortunately, these tough fellows were hardy and did not tire easily when running.
Although the presence of five hundred Barbarian Warriors slowed their marching speed, neither Ma Su nor Li Hong had any objections. With the addition of these warriors, their overall strength had significantly increased. This was a good thing, so how could they possibly complain?
Despite the Barbarian Warriors advancing on foot, their pace was not too slow. After a night’s journey, they finally arrived at the gates of Chengdu.
According to plan, Ma Su took the lead and used his identity to deceive the gatekeepers into opening the city gates. Then, while the guards were distracted, the lurking Barbarian Warriors stealthily eliminated the soldiers guarding the gate.
Following a similar tactic, they successfully took control of all the city gates in Chengdu.
After leaving a portion of the Barbarian Warriors to guard the gates, Ma Su led Li Hong and others toward the palace in the city.
Under the pretense of reporting urgent military matters, Ma Su smoothly passed through the Imperial Palace Guard's defenses. After several layers of inspection, they finally met Liu Shan, who was enjoying leisure time in the back garden.
“Your Majesty, General Ma has an urgent military report,” said a eunuch in a dark robe as he bowed to a young man.
The young man had red lips and white teeth, with a handsome appearance. Dressed in a bright yellow dragon robe that exuded nobility, it was clear he was someone of great importance. From the eunuch's address, it was evident that this young man was Liu Shan, the last ruler of Shu Han.
Liu Shan stood before a tall mechanical device and curiously asked, “Which General Ma?”
The eunuch explained, “Reporting to Your Majesty, it is General Ma Su, the deputy commander sent by the Chancellor to quell the rebellion in the south.”
“Oh, it's him!”
Liu Shan nodded and casually said, “Since he has urgent news to report, let him in quickly.”
“Understood!” The eunuch responded and retreated from the back garden with a bow.
Soon after, Ma Su entered with Li Hong to meet Liu Shan, who was leisurely enjoying his time in the back garden.
Liu Shan was tinkering with a furnace-like machine, completely oblivious to Ma Su's arrival, much like a mechanic engrossed in his work.
Seeing that Liu Shan had not noticed them, Li Hong quickly exchanged a knowing glance with Ma Su.
Understanding the signal, Ma Su nodded slightly and stealthily drew a short dagger from his sleeve, creeping closer. However, just as Ma Su was about to get close to Liu Shan, Liu Shan suddenly dodged, evading Ma Su's lethal strike.
Once at the mechanical device, Liu Shan sneered and said, "Your father warned me about you; you're just one person, not worth keeping. It seems he was right. Ma Su, what do you intend to do?"
"Since you're incompetent, you shouldn't remain on the throne. The position belongs to those who are capable," Ma Su replied coldly.
To his surprise, Liu Shan laughed instead of getting angry. He mocked, "You dare say that? Watch me!"
"Initial Unit Merge!"
"Behold the power of Rongcheng Overlord! Die, Ma Su!"
