"Ouch, Mom didn't know. I thought you were already done showering!"
Fortunately, I reacted quickly, wrapping myself up and knocking her phone away, preventing any embarrassing moments.
"Mom! Were you doing this on purpose? You knew I was in the shower and still went live streaming into the bathroom. What do you mean by that?"
"I rushed in because I needed to use the bathroom. Why are you being so petty?"
Using the bathroom while live streaming? Even a fool wouldn't believe that!
But that wasn't what made me the angriest.
When I finally calmed down and returned to my bedroom, I discovered that my file folder on the desk had been opened!
"Mom! Did you open my file folder? It can't be opened; it's very important and could affect my whole life!"
"Stop trying to scare me. What kind of file folder could affect your entire life? You must be hiding some secret you don't want anyone to see!"
"Mom! If you don't understand, just stop talking nonsense. What if I can't find a job in the future?"
The argument quickly attracted Dad's attention: "What's going on? What are you two arguing about now?"
"I was kindly tidying up for my precious daughter, but she yells at me over a file. She's such an ungrateful child!"
My dad kept staring at the violently torn File Folder, urging me to quickly contact the person in charge to see if there was any way to remedy the situation.
Meanwhile, my mom continued to mumble at the camera, "Just because I touched the young lady's things, she's throwing a fit at me. How did I fail as a mother? It's so hard for me!"
My dad looked at her seriously and said, "It's over. My retirement savings for the second half of my life are gone. We're going to be living on nothing but air from now on."
As soon as she heard about the retirement savings, my mom immediately tensed up. "How is that possible? Isn't this Xiaxia's information? What does it have to do with you?"
"I can't explain it to you! This is serious; you have no idea how grave the situation is!" he snapped. "You have no education and haven't worked a day in your life, and now you're making everything worse. We're just going to be waiting for our next meal from the wind!"
Seeing our serious expressions and reading the comments in the chat where people were blaming her, my mom finally realized this wasn't a joke.
"What should we do then? I don’t know! I thought there was some secret hidden in there!" she exclaimed. "Oh God, we've struggled our whole lives relying on that little retirement fund, and now it's just gone! I'm really cursed!"
"Enough already! Stop crying. Just go outside for now. Xiaxia and I will think of a solution. And don't touch those files again, understood?"
My mom nodded blankly and left my room without another word.
Once she was gone, my dad finally took a breath and said:
"I was just trying to scare you, your mother doesn't understand these things. Use your retirement money to scare her and see if she dares to touch your stuff again!"
"How about it? Can your File Folder be salvaged?"
"Fortunately, it's not something particularly important. The information inside is fine; the person in charge said just submit a report."
Just as my dad and I breathed a sigh of relief, my brother's shouting suddenly echoed from the living room.
"Mom! I told you my stomach is sensitive right now; I can't eat that much meat!"
"Yang Yanli, what are you doing? What are you stuffing into the child's mouth again?"
"When I didn't let you eat meat before, you were all unhappy. Now that I've let you eat as much as you want, you're refusing it. What does that even mean?"
"Mom, the meat smells off, and especially since it's leftover from last night, it can't be eaten. Xiaoliang hasn't recovered yet; how can he eat it?"
My Mom slammed her chopsticks down and started filming a short video:
"I really don't know how to serve the Young Master Princess. The relatives at home kindly gave us this meat, and they won't even look at it. How did I end up raising such a bunch of ingrates?"
After finishing her video, My Mom piled all the meat in front of herself and devoured it in one go, saying between bites:
"It's like kindness is wasted on ingrates. I've suffered for so many years; I deserve to eat more meat and not share with these ingrates."
But the next moment, My Mom clutched her stomach and hurried to the bathroom.
She looked just like my brother at that moment.
