Yama's Wedding
The Dragon Lord had not encountered such an opponent in a long time. In his mind, he had forgotten that Xue was someone valued by both the West and the Underworld; all he could see was Xue standing before him, fighting fiercely.
He only hoped that Xue would engage him in a good battle, allowing him to stretch his long-unused muscles.
Xue gazed at the Dragon Lord, astonished by the immense power he possessed. He knew it was impossible to defeat the Dragon Lord before him. However, he would exert every ounce of strength to protect Yao Guang behind him.
Seeing the concern in Xue's eyes as he looked at Yao Guang, the Dragon Lord understood that Xue was fighting solely to protect her. So...
After a moment of contemplation, the Dragon Lord waved his claw and moved Yao Guang to a distance away.
Although Xue noticed the Dragon Lord's actions, he could not keep up with his speed. All he could do was watch helplessly as the Dragon Lord took Yao Guang far away.
At that moment, Yao Guang did not resist the Dragon Lord's actions; perhaps she simply did not wish to.
"What are you doing?" Xue asked the Dragon Lord.
"I see you care quite a bit for this girl. How about this: if you can give me a good fight, I will spare her life," the Dragon Lord replied nonchalantly to Xue.
Xue looked toward Yao Guang, pondering the truth behind the Dragon Lord's words. Yao Guang had been moved far away, and it was clear that the Dragon Lord had set up a protective barrier around her. This indicated that, at least for now, he did not intend to harm her.
If he agreed to the Dragon Lord's request, then even if he could not defeat him, he could at least ensure Yao Guang's safety. With this thought in mind, Xue felt that this deal made him the winner.
"Once spoken, a promise is hard to retract! Fine, I accept your challenge!" After much deliberation, Xue ultimately agreed to the Dragon Lord's terms. Even if he were to perish at the hands of the Dragon Lord, judging by his demeanor, it seemed unlikely that he would be untrustworthy. Thus, he need not worry about Yao Guang.
Upon hearing Xue's response, a smile appeared on the massive dragon head of the Dragon Lord, looking quite fierce.
He had known that this person would agree to his proposal; it was likely a favorable deal for him. If Xue had refused, he would have had no choice but to kill both of them, which would have taken away much of his enjoyment.
He had finally found something so interesting and did not want it to end just yet.
For the Dragon Lord, matters like the Dragon War no longer held any significance. Having lived for so long, power had lost its allure for him.
He merely wished to find some entertaining pursuits amidst his lengthy existence to stave off boredom. Therefore, when faced with intriguing situations like this one, he was willing to expend his patience on them. Clearly, the recent clash between him and Xue had piqued his interest.
"Then let's get started!" the Dragon Lord said to Xue. He was eager to see what other spells Xue had yet to reveal; this person's magic was even stronger than that of the previous opponent.
Xue focused his mind, knowing that he could not afford to relax at this moment. Qing Jun's face was calm and serene under the storm of lightning, his gaze distant as he looked at the Dragon Lord, revealing a hint of unspoken thoughts.
"Alright, bring it on!" Xue replied to the Dragon Lord.
The seemingly massive dragon head appeared surprisingly agile as the Dragon Lord made his move, his entire body changing color. It was a fiery red, as vivid as blood.
Even those Aquatic Race members nearby, and the Soldiers further away, could feel waves of heat rising around them. The gradually increasing temperature distorted the surrounding environment, causing the Soldiers to sweat profusely, while the Aquatic Race had already retreated into the sea, peering out with their eyes above the surface at the Dragon Lord.
Standing closer to the Dragon Lord, Xue felt as if he were facing the sun itself, just a short distance away. The sweat from his earlier struggle evaporated almost instantly, leaving even his soaked clothes dry.
Truly impressive! It seemed that the earlier flames were merely a warm-up for the Dragon Lord; now he was showcasing his true power.
Smoke began to rise from the ocean surface, a result of the flames evaporating the seawater around the Dragon Lord.
The Aquatic Race could only hide deep beneath the sea, too afraid to surface. If they did, they would likely end up like dried fish.
The Soldiers were in a dire situation as well; they could neither escape into the air nor dive deep into the ocean. They could only rely on their magic to maintain a slight moisture on their bodies.
This passivity couldn't continue. Xue transformed his magic and conjured a Water Dragon that surged toward the Dragon Lord.
The Dragon Lord did not dodge; he watched as the Water Dragon approached him.
However, what they did not expect was that before the Water Dragon could reach him, it was completely evaporated by the flames surrounding him. The temperature around him was simply too high. Traditionally, water and fire do not coexist, but now fire prevailed over water.
Seeing his attack fail, Xue leaped into the air and stood on the ocean's surface, drawing water from beneath him to surge upward.
The Dragon Lord observed in admiration as Xue utilized water from the ocean against his flames. He realized that using fire magic consumed his own energy while Xue merely redirected water from the sea onto himself to extinguish his flames without expending any magic at all.
The Dragon Lord moved gracefully in midair, dodging each time he saw the Water Dragon about to strike. It was as if he were playing with pearls in a game of dragon and pearl, thoroughly enjoying himself.
As they danced through the air, exchanging playful attacks with Xue's Water Dragon, the Dragon Lord appeared not only more than capable but also had time to taunt Xue. "Hey there! Is this all you've got? This isn't enough for me to play with—show me something truly impressive!"
The Dragon Lord rolled joyfully in the sky, playing with the Water Dragon.
Xue looked up at the Dragon Lord above, its figure tumbling through the air, occasionally appearing amidst the clouds. The massive silhouette was clearly reflected in Xue's eyes.
Suddenly, a glimmer of brilliance shone in Xue's gaze, and a furious roar erupted from the surface of the sea, as if the ocean itself were raging. The Aquatic Race was stirred up by the turbulence on the water's surface.
From the depths of the sea, several Water Dragons emerged, even larger than the one before, charging toward the Dragon Lord from all directions.
The Dragon Lord, who had been happily playing with the Water Dragon, was caught off guard by Xue's unexpected move. The multiple Water Dragons surrounded the Dragon Lord completely, leaving it momentarily flustered and unable to find an escape route.
The flames on its body were gradually suppressed by the endless water, becoming dimmer and dimmer.
Seeing that the Dragon Lord was being restrained, Xue cast a spell, sending the several Water Dragons rushing toward it. The water hissed as it made contact with the Dragon Lord, producing wisps of blue smoke.
The blue smoke obscured the Dragon Lord's figure, making it impossible for anyone to see where it was. Observing this situation, Xue let out a cold laugh.
"Is that all you've got?" Despite being suppressed, the playful voice of the Dragon Lord emerged from within the swirling smoke.
What a troublesome opponent, Xue thought to himself.
"Then let us wait and see!"
Xue gazed at the now-invisible Dragon Lord and raised his palm. Dozens of Water Dragons intertwined and twisted together into a shape resembling a twisted doughnut, tightly encircling the Dragon Lord. From the outside, these Water Dragons formed a massive shell-like structure, trapping the Dragon Lord inside.
"Spin!" With Xue's command, the dozens of Water Dragons began to rotate, forming a gigantic whirlpool.
This was a technique Xue had never used before in public. The Soldiers watching could not help but feel excited at this sight; waves rolled violently around the massive whirlpool. Surely, the Dragon Lord was inside.
Even such a formidable body would be severely injured if not crushed by this force.
Xue watched as the towering waves churned and let out a gentle sigh of relief. He hadn't expected to defeat such a powerful Dragon Lord; it felt worth exhausting his magic for this moment.
As Xue felt pleased in his heart and prepared to turn away...
Yet, all he could hear behind him was a low murmur of the Dragon Roar.
"Am I really that useless in your eyes?"
Xue slowly turned around, only to see what should have been an unimpressive Water Dragon Tornado emitting a burst of light, splitting open a narrow seam.
Suddenly, something shot out from the water, heading straight for Xue, who barely managed to dodge it.
He watched as the Dragon Lord exploded out from within the tornado, while the dozens of Water Dragons that had formed earlier fell apart and plummeted into the sea.
The Dragon Lord smiled at Xue. "Not a bad spell, but it's just not enough!"
The flames that had just extinguished reignited fiercely. The Water Dragons still suspended in the air were evaporated before Xue's eyes, leaving nothing behind, not even the original blue smoke.
The air grew even hotter than before, gathering strength and intensity beyond what it had been moments ago.
Xue couldn't help but reassess the Dragon Lord before him; indeed, he was a formidable opponent.
