Yama's Wedding
The next morning, Shu woke up early, ready to take Yao Guang back to the court.
"Yao Guang, let's go," Shu said, looking at Yao Guang, who was reluctantly gazing at Xue.
"Big brother, can we wait a little longer?" Yao Guang pleaded with Shu.
Shu could only think of a saying from the mortal realm: a girl should not linger. Since being awakened by him, Yao Guang had been hesitant to leave Xue. She had been dragging her feet since breakfast, and now several hours had passed.
"Yao Guang, it's time to go," Shu urged again, unable to understand Yao Guang's reluctance. To him, it seemed that Yao Guang and Xue would meet again in the future; it just wouldn't be like now when they could be together freely. Once they returned to the court, things would certainly be different.
"Alright, alright, big brother, we'll leave right away," Yao Guang replied, but her feet remained planted.
"Enough already, let's go," Xue finally spoke up, noticing Shu's growing frustration and urging both Yao Guang and Shu to move along.
"Okay then, my brother and I will head out first. You must come visit the court often," Yao Guang said. There were many rules in the court, especially concerning her; people there often criticized Yao Guang. Once she returned to the court, she wouldn't receive special permission from the Jade Emperor to descend to meet Xue whenever she wished. She would have to wait for Xue to come see her.
"Alright, let's go," Xue smiled as he encouraged Yao Guang.
Finally, Yao Guang turned around, ready to leave with Shu. Shu had been waiting on a cloud for quite some time for her.
Xue silently watched the two of them and secretly smiled. At that moment, neither Yao Guang nor Shu knew that Xue had a surprise in store for Yao Guang.
Xue stepped forward and pulled Yao Guang into his embrace before swiftly flying into the sky.
Yao Guang, who had originally been sulking, suddenly found herself in Xue's embrace, a strange joy swelling within her. "Xue, what is this?"
Lying in Xue's arms, Yao Guang asked him.
"Haven't I been with you? I want to go to the court with you all," Xue replied earnestly. Seeing the incredulous expression on Yao Guang's face, he felt that he had managed to surprise her. As for why he had hesitated earlier, it was because he wanted to see how Shu would react upon discovering his intentions. Xue was curious; after all, Shu knew so much yet refused to tell him anything. He knew that the Wheel King of the Underworld was quite upset about it.
Sure enough, it wasn't long before Shu appeared, his face dark with anger. Judging by his expression, it seemed he had already figured out Xue's intentions. In a way, this served as a small revenge for Xue.
Yao Guang noticed her brother's demeanor and understood Xue's intentions as well. However, unlike her brother, she didn't give Xue a cold shoulder; instead, she lightly punched him playfully, feeling a sweetness blooming in her heart.
"Let's go," Shu said hastily as he passed by Xue and Yao Guang, leaving them with those words before flying ahead.
"Hahaha," Xue laughed at Shu's grim expression, feeling quite pleased.
At that moment, Yao Guang also decided not to seek any justice for her brother.
Before long, Xue and Yao Guang arrived at the South Gate.
To their surprise, Shu had already reached there ahead of them. Upon seeing the two slowly approaching, he said, "Hurry up and come inside; the Jade Emperor has already learned that you two have returned."
How could news of the Jade Emperor spread so quickly? Xue and Yao Guang exchanged glances before hurriedly following Shu into the Lingxiao Palace.
As they entered, they noticed various celestial beings watching the three of them.
"We pay our respects to the Jade Emperor," Shu, Yao Guang, and Xue addressed him. The only difference was that while Yao Guang and Shu performed the formal bow of subjects to their sovereign, Xue merely stood in the hall and bowed slightly to the Jade Emperor.
The Jade Emperor sat on his throne, casting a glance at the three individuals below.
"Revolving King Xue, what brings you to my Lingxiao Palace today?" Surprisingly, the first person the Jade Emperor addressed was not Yao Guang or Shu, but rather the one standing beside him, Xue.
"I have come today for Yao Guang," Xue replied, neither humble nor arrogant.
This statement sparked discussions among the gathered immortals.
"What is going on here?"
"How does the Wheel King from the Underworld have any connection with Yao Guang?"
"I suspect that Yao Guang must have offended the Wheel King. It’s no wonder; I heard that Star Lord Yao Guang escaped from the Underworld, and the Wheel King was ordered by Yama King to capture him."
"So there’s such a backstory. No wonder! I wonder how Star Lord Yao Guang will escape punishment this time."
Their voices were not low, and every word reached Xue's ears. Listening to their remarks about Yao Guang filled Xue with anger; he felt like retaliating against these people. However, he gradually restrained himself. Why should he stoop to their level? He would soon let them know why he had come to this court for Yao Guang.
The Flower Fairy stared intently at Xue. She had also heard the words of her fellow immortals, but she knew in her heart that Xue was not as they described. Just moments ago, she had clearly seen Xue's expression turn terrifying when they spoke ill of Yao Guang, as if he wished to eliminate those who spoke against her. Could it be that Xue had truly fallen in love with Yao Guang? No, that couldn't be true. Blossom tried to convince herself otherwise, but when you genuinely like someone, you can see who they truly care for in their eyes. You can tell how they look at that person, just as you look at them. In Xue's gaze towards Yao Guang, she recognized her own feelings reflected back at her—a gaze filled with love.
Xue had indeed fallen for Yao Guang. Blossom felt as if she could hear nothing else; all she knew was that Xue looked at Yao Guang with longing eyes, filled with a love she could never attain. She realized she had no chance left; Xue had found his beloved, and his gaze was no longer as cold as it had been when he looked at her before. (To be continued.)
