"Brother, you should understand why you suddenly want to take me back to the Heavenly Court," Yao Guang thought, filled with confusion. Why did Shu want to take her back right after they met? Her punishment wasn't over yet, and generally, a deity who had been demoted to the mortal realm needed the Jade Emperor's pardon to return. 0

"Brother, are you trying to abuse your power and secretly take me back? I don't want to go with you." Yao Guang had no idea what was happening. Without the Jade Emperor's pardon, she wouldn't return. Moreover, she had finally been able to be with Xue. For these years, they had lived like an ordinary couple, enjoying their freedom in the mortal world. If it weren't for encountering Shu today, Yao Guang would have almost forgotten that her relationship with Xue was different from that of ordinary mortals. Even if her brother tried to separate her from Xue, Yao Guang would resist. However, since her brother doted on her so much, he would surely like Xue as well. 0

"Yao Guang, stop messing around and come back with me." Shu said firmly, ready to take Yao Guang away. There were many things that Yao Guang didn't understand; today, he had to bring her back to the Heavenly Court or he wouldn't be able to explain himself to the Jade Emperor. 0

Yao Guang felt Shu grip her wrist tightly. "Brother, what are you doing? I don't want to go back!" She struggled desperately. What was wrong with her brother today? She had never seen Shu so impatient before. 0

"Greedy Wolf Star Lord, have you forgotten I'm still here?" Xue watched as Yao Guang's wrist turned red from Shu's grip and felt a pang of heartache. Just moments ago, he had refrained from confronting Shu because he was Yao Guang's brother and let him act recklessly. But now that Shu was trying to take Yao Guang away right in front of him, he couldn't just stand by as if he were an ordinary mortal. Xue stepped forward and gently removed Shu's hand from Yao Guang's wrist. 0

Yao Guang immediately escaped from Shu's grasp and hid behind Xue, fearing that Shu would force her away from him. 0

At this moment, Shu had no time to worry about Yao Guang; Xue's hand was still on his arm. As expected of the Wheel King who once made waves in the Heavenly Court, his strength was indeed formidable. Shu felt his arm go numb when Xue casually removed his hand. In that instant, he realized he hadn't wanted to let go of Yao Guang at all. But at that moment, it felt as if a mountain had pressed down on him; caught off guard, he could only watch as Yao Guang slipped away from his grasp. Shu poured all his magical power into his arm but felt a slight sweat forming on his back while Xue remained calm and composed, effortlessly holding onto his arm without any sign of strain. 0

With a cold snort, Shu withdrew all his power and pulled his arm away from Xue's grip. 0

At this point, Yao Guang was unaware of the undercurrents between the two men and thought that Shu was angry because of her earlier actions. She approached him again with a sweet tone, "Brother, can you let me stay in the mortal realm for a few more years?" 0

In the past, such a request would have been reasonable; however, things were different now. The current situation was beyond Shu's control. 0

Yao Guang continued to act cute towards Shu, believing that her brother would soften at her request. After all these years, it had always been like this—if she showed weakness first, her brother would agree to whatever she asked for. However, what Yao Guang didn't realize was that the seriousness of this matter far exceeded her imagination. Soon after, the fates of the three individuals present would change drastically, leading Yao Guang into deep despair. 0

“Yao Guang, this time it’s not negotiable. You must come back with me today.” Shu looked at Yao Guang, who had heard his words and displayed a look of grievance. Shu couldn’t bear to see Yao Guang like this, but this time he had to harden his heart and spoke coldly to him. 0

“The Dragon Clan has declared war.” Xue observed Shu's silence, and his earlier suspicion was confirmed. What could possibly compel the lofty Emperor to recall Yao Guang, the Star of Death, other than war? 0

“How do you know?” Xue's tone was not a question but a statement of certainty. Shu was surprised that Xue was already aware of this news; even he had only just learned about it during his meeting with the Jade Emperor. The Jade Emperor hadn’t even announced it yet. Shu scrutinized the man before him; Xue seemed to have known about this for quite some time. There was no trace of urgency or worry in his eyes, only boundless calmness. Perhaps he wouldn’t be an enemy after all. If he were, that earlier display of power would have been terrifying, and Shu wouldn’t even know if that was all Xue was capable of. 0

“What war declaration?” Yao Guang looked between the two men, confused by their interaction. He felt as if he hadn’t understood a single word. 0

Seeing Yao Guang’s bewildered expression, Shu sighed. He hadn’t wanted to bring up this matter with Yao Guang so soon, but since it was no longer a secret from Wheel King, it was better to inform Yao Guang early. This way, Yao Guang could prepare himself and avoid being caught off guard later. 0

“The Dragon Clan is invading. The Sea Dragon Kings are plotting rebellion. The Jade Emperor has already issued orders to summon all deities for a desperate battle.” 0

Shu’s simple statement crashed into Yao Guang’s heart like a massive wave. 0

The Dragon Clan has declared war? 0

Yao Guang could hardly believe his ears. The Dragon Clan, the leaders of spirit beasts, were divine creatures among the earth. 0

Yet few knew that the Dragon Clan was actually an ancient divine race that had existed since the dawn of creation. First came Fan Long to pray for rain, then Candle Dragon sacrificed itself to become a pillar; the contributions of the Dragon Clan were admirable. Unfortunately, their numbers were few, and there were rarely groups of dragons appearing together. Thus, when the court was established back then, all capable dragons had perished, and the Jade Emperor drove the Dragon Clan from above, forcing them to become kings of the sea. Yao Guang knew that the Dragon Clan had long harbored resentment; their kin had sacrificed the most back then, yet all the credit went to the Jade Emperor. It was also true that during those ancient battles against demons, members of the Dragon Clan, along with Yama King from Underworld and Buddha from the West, suffered severe injuries and diminished powers while only the human Jade Emperor managed to preserve his strength intact. Consequently, he rose from one of the weakest races to become the most powerful being and thus commanded respect from all. 0

To revere him meant to regard the Jade Emperor as supreme. 0

After nearly ten thousand years, had the Dragon Clan finally reached their breaking point? And what about the other two realms? What were they thinking? 0

Yao Guang suddenly understood the situation and looked at Xue. As a former believer of the West, what was Xue's stance now, akin to the King of the Underworld? 0

Xue noticed the concern in Yao Guang's eyes and smiled reassuringly. "It's fine. Neither the West nor the Underworld will participate in this war." 0

Hearing this, Yao Guang felt a weight lift from her heart. She had been genuinely afraid that Xue would side with her, and that both the Underworld and the West would join the conflict. If that happened, would she have to face Xue as an enemy on the battlefield? She didn't want that. After what happened with Jun Ruo, Yao Guang was even more terrified of repeating Jun Ruo's tragedy with Xue. Now, she could set aside her worries about Xue and focus on how to deal with the Dragon Clan. The Dragon Clan had once been incredibly powerful, not just because they possessed Fuyiding's magic but also because they were born with innate strength that all other beings envied. Furthermore, their true forms were formidable; weapons made from dragon scales were unmatched in battle, and when they transformed, they were protected by impenetrable dragon scales. 0

It was undeniable that if the Dragon Clan hadn't fallen from grace back then, the current emperor would likely not be who he was today. 0

If she had such formidable power, she wouldn't have been content to remain in the dark depths of the sea, day after day, year after year, watching those who once begged for mercy at her hands enjoy boundless wealth above. 0

Meanwhile, Shu interpreted Xue's words differently. 0

Xue's implication that neither the Underworld nor the West would participate in this war suggested to Shu that they were merely spectators from afar, choosing not to assist either side. To Shu, this felt like a betrayal. The West and the Underworld should uphold their loyalty to the court, especially the Underworld, which was under its command. Now that the court was in trouble, both realms were clearly protecting themselves. 0

However, upon further reflection, Shu considered that perhaps the Underworld and West had done enough already. Many might not know about past events, but Shu was well aware of that history. As long as those from the West and Underworld stayed out of it, it would suffice. One Dragon Clan was already a significant threat to the court; if members from both realms joined in, it could lead to the court's downfall. If possible, even Shu himself wished to avoid participating in this war. Yet in such conflicts, it was always those powerless humans who suffered and were injured. 0

At this moment, Shu could only hope for an early end to this war—ideally without any fighting at all. (To be continued.) 0
