"Did you bring us here?" Jun Ruo lifted her head and looked up at the figure standing before her, but she didn't wait for a response. She pressed her lips together, her gaze lightly brushing over the face in front of her, her eyes flickering as she turned away. She looked back at Yao Guang and Xue, asking, "Why am I still here?" 0

Yao Guang watched Jun Ruo, recalling the events from earlier. That day, he and Xue had witnessed Jun Ruo being pierced by Mo Yi's sword, her body slowly becoming transparent. Yao Guang had thought she would simply vanish. Just at that critical moment, he heard Mo Yi's loud shout, "Quick, surround her! Don't let her disappear!" 0

Yao Guang stared in shock as trained soldiers surrounded Jun Ruo with a net. Her body, which had been fading away, suddenly regained its solidity. "It's the Soul Locking Net," Xue explained beside him. "Mo Yi has some skill to find such a treasure in the mortal realm." Looking at the scene before him, Xue realized that the aura he had sensed earlier was indeed from the Soul Locking Net. As its name suggests, it locks souls that are about to depart, forcibly keeping them in the mortal world. 0

Xue reined in his emotions until Jun Ruo's body fully returned to normal. Only then did he stand up and glance toward Mo Yi. Yao Guang understood what Xue intended; he was planning to seize their Soul Locking Net. "Xue." 0

Yao Guang's voice made Xue turn to him. "Yao Guang, stay behind me and take care of yourself." With that, Xue slowly closed his eyes, unleashing a torrent of ghostly energy from his body. The mournful wind howled across the open ground, causing crows perched on the eaves to take flight with a flurry of wings, adding a touch of desolation to the silence. The group led by Mo Yi was thrown into disarray by Xue's ghostly energy, rendered powerless. "Collect!" Xue shouted, and the scattered Soul Locking Net flew directly into his hands. 0

Having obtained the Soul Locking Net, Xue intended to leave. 0

Yao Guang grabbed his arm. "Jun Ruo..." Seeing Jun Ruo lying on the ground, Yao Guang couldn't bear to leave her behind. Xue glanced at Jun Ruo and decided it was best to take her with them. He used his magic to pull her close. 0

"You can't leave!" Mo Yi struggled out of the swirling ghostly energy. While others might not see it, Yao Guang and Xue could perceive the dragon aura behind Mo Yi in the darkness. It seemed that Mo Yi would eventually become a ruler of this realm; unfortunately for him, his dragon aura had yet to mature enough to withstand Xue's overwhelming ghostly energy. However, compared to those still struggling within it, Mo Yi was doing relatively well. 0

Mo Yi didn't see things so complicated; he only felt something obstructing his approach toward these two people. Every step forward felt immensely difficult. Yet despite this, Mo Yi continued to advance slowly. These two had stood by without intervening until now; but once they did act, he found himself utterly defenseless against them. Regardless of everything else, he couldn't allow them to take Xiao Junru and the Soul Locking Net away; otherwise, he wouldn't know how to explain himself upon returning. 0

"What will you do to stop us?" Xue asked as he looked at Mo Yi. 0

Mo Yi felt as if he were being regarded like an ant by this man’s gaze. This feeling left him quite displeased; yet deep down he knew that this man's power was beyond his capacity to resist. 0

"Take me with you; I can provide you with shelter," Mo Yi offered to Xue. 0

"So this is how it is now; we've been waiting for you to wake up," Yao Guang said as he looked at Jun Ruo. Although Yao Guang hadn't agreed with Xue's decision to bring Mo Yi along initially, after seeing this place he appreciated Mo Yi's insight; the scenery was suitable for settling down and the surroundings were particularly tranquil. After staying here for over half a month, Yao Guang felt his mindset had calmed significantly without any irritation. 0

After hearing Yao Guang's words, Jun Ruo stood tall in the middle of the road. Beneath her feet lay a path of smooth pebbles leading toward someone she had longed for deeply standing at its end. 0

“Jun Ruo.” 0

“Hmm.” 0

With just a simple phrase, Jun Ruo felt an inexplicable sense of being worlds apart. 0

“Let’s go.” Seeing the interaction between Jun Ruo and Mo Yi, Xue understood and pulled Yao Guang away. It seemed they had much to discuss, and it would be best not to disturb them. 0

Jun Ruo watched as Yao Guang and Xue moved out of her line of sight, then turned back to Mo Yi. “I didn’t expect we would meet again.” Yunhuo sighed helplessly, a bitter smile on his face. “In the end, I have lost.” 0

“Yes, I still want your life!” Mo Yi declared solemnly, his expression as cold and unyielding as his words. 0

“I know.” Jun Ruo's soft voice sounded hollow and powerless in the moment. 0

Hearing Jun Ruo's response, Mo Yi furrowed his brow, his thin lips pressed tightly together. His chest heaved violently as he bit down hard, forcing out a question. “Then why don’t you plead for me to spare you?” 0

Jun Ruo looked at Mo Yi, confused about why he was so angry. Wasn’t this what he wanted? She had complied with his wishes, yet he seemed to feel wronged. 0

“No need.” Jun Ruo replied casually, her eyes devoid of emotion like a still, deep pool. “Life has no attachments; what does death matter?” 0

“You!” Mo Yi felt a lump rise in his throat, momentarily speechless. This was precisely the answer he desired, yet seeing Jun Ruo so indifferent to her own life ignited a simmering anger within him. 0

“Mo Yi, Xiao Junru is already dead and cannot be your wife. Forget the past.” 0

Jun Ruo sighed softly, her long voice weaving into Mo Yi's ears. The anger he had barely contained flared up again at her words. 0

“You are nothing but a common bandit; you are unworthy to be the wife of the Third Prince.” Xuanyuan Jin’s cold voice descended from above, each word cutting like a sharp blade into Jun Ruo’s heart, causing her pain. “Since you are unworthy of being my wife, I will naturally take your life.” 0

“Why are you so unwilling to let me go? I believe I have never wronged you in this lifetime, Mo Yi.” Jun Ruo was perplexed by Mo Yi's relentless pursuit regarding her name. 0

"The National Master has calculated a prophecy. You and your ragtag group will be our dynasty's greatest enemies. Whether you are human or ghost, you will affect the foundation of our future. Initially, I did not believe it, but later I discovered that you are remnants of the previous dynasty. Naturally, I cannot let you go. You must be crushed to dust," Mo Yi said with a grim expression. 0

"Is it really just because of an old Taoist's words that you have taken the lives of forty-eight people from our Bandit Hideout, not even sparing the children?" Jun Ruo's lips curled into a smile as if she found something amusing. A strange light flickered in her gentle eyes, tinged with mockery. "Mo Yi, I truly was blind to have sought various excuses for you all this time. It turns out it was for such a ridiculous reason. I even..." 0

The words hung on her lips before she swallowed them back down. Shaking her head, she scoffed at her own foolishness. For the sake of this person before her, she had ruined herself and dragged down those who had always believed in her, including the children who sweetly called her sister. 0

Looking up again, Jun Ruo's eyes were clear. "I was so foolish to think until the very end that you were merely being manipulated by others." 0

"I must protect my father's empire," Mo Yi thought, a wave of unease rising within him. 0

"That is not your father's empire; it is our Xiao Family's empire. Have you forgotten how your Mo Family seized this land?" Jun Ruo raised her head proudly. In that moment, she was no longer the inconspicuous leader of Black Wind Stronghold; she was Xiao Junru, a princess of the former Xiao Dynasty. The smile faded from her face, replaced by an air of solemnity. 0

This was the first time Mo Yi had seen such a Jun Ruo. He had to admit that the nobility radiating from her made him involuntarily pay attention. 0

Jun Ruo's words left Mo Yi at a loss. She was right; although Jun Ruo's grandfather had been debauched and tyrannical, their Mo Family had indeed used some unsavory means to seize power from the Xiao Family. Because of this guilt, his father had spent years relentlessly pursuing any remnants of the former royal family, willing to kill a thousand innocents rather than let any potential survivors escape. 0

Mo Yi looked at Jun Ruo, who stared back at him unwaveringly. Even from a distance, it felt as if she could see through his inner turmoil and lay bare his fears and anxieties under the bright sunlight. 0

"Xiao Junru, how dare you speak such treasonous words!" Mo Yi could only mask his inner resentment with anger. He feared Jun Ruo's gaze—especially now when her eyes were fixed on him without any ripples of emotion, reflecting only his own image. This version of Jun Ruo frightened him more than the one filled with rage. (To be continued.) 0
