Yama's Wedding
After resting for a few days at Xiao Yao Villa, on this particular morning, Xue and Yao Guang came to bid farewell to Liu Qing and Xiao Yao Hao.
“Yao Guang, can’t you stay a few more days? It feels like you just got here, and now you’re leaving already?” Liu Qing said reluctantly, holding onto Yao Guang’s hand. Although they hadn’t spent much time together, the bond formed during this brief encounter was profound. Yao Guang had risked her life to save Liu Qing, and in Liu Qing’s heart, Yao Guang had already become her one true best friend. No matter what identity or background Yao Guang had, nothing could hinder their friendship.
“Liu Qing, the matters here have been resolved. Xue and I have other things to attend to. You take care of yourself here; I will miss you,” Yao Guang replied, also reluctant to let go of Liu Qing’s hand as they said their goodbyes.
In contrast to the bittersweet atmosphere between Liu Qing and Yao Guang, the mood between Xiao Yao Hao and Xue turned serious.
“Xiao Yao Hao, you know I am the King of the Underworld. The reason I saved Liu Qing this time was because of Yao Guang. From now on, you two should take care of yourselves,” Xue said, his hands clasped behind his back as he addressed Xiao Yao Hao.
“Whether you are the King of the Underworld or my brother Xue, in my heart, you will always be that comrade who fought alongside me. Liu Qing and I will forever be grateful to both of you,” Xiao Yao Hao replied with dignity. His words pleased Xue; their time together had fostered a mutual respect.
“Liu Qing, let her stay in the mortal realm. She now has the Solidifying Pearl for protection and can accompany you here. As for matters in the Underworld, I will make arrangements,” Xue’s tone softened as he spoke.
Upon hearing this from Xue, Xiao Yao Hao understood that Liu Qing could remain by his side. Although Liu Qing was still somewhat upset about past events, it didn’t matter; they now had a lifetime to slowly explain everything. Feeling touched, Xiao Yao Hao didn’t show too much emotion but simply said to Xue, “In my lifetime, I will follow Brother Xue’s orders without hesitation.”
Promises made between men may not be as sentimental as those between women, yet they carry immense weight and significance.
“Of course, we are brothers; there is no need for such formality.”
With this statement, Xue set aside his identity as the King of the Underworld and embraced a brotherly bond with Xiao Yao Hao. Their eyes brightened as they exchanged smiles while gazing at the women they loved not far away.
“Yao Guang, you must come back to see me when you can,” Liu Qing waved her hand continuously at Yao Guang.
"Alright, you two go back now, Xiao Yao Hao. Let me tell you, if you dare to bully Liu Qing again, I won't let you off the hook. I'll have Xue throw you straight into the Underworld," Yao Guang threatened fiercely at Xiao Yao Hao.
"Oh dear, how could I? King Yan, spare me!" The somewhat somber atmosphere was instantly lightened by Xiao Yao Hao's antics, and the three of them laughed heartily at his exaggerated bowing and pleading.
"Okay, okay, Yao Guang, let's go," Xue said, pulling a reluctant Yao Guang forward. Yao Guang turned back every few steps to glance at Liu Qing and Xiao Yao Hao.
Xue suddenly remembered something and stopped in his tracks. He turned back to Xiao Yao Hao and Liu Qing and said, "As we part today, I have a great gift for you. In the future, Yao Guang and I will come to congratulate you."
Xiao Yao Hao and Liu Qing caught the scroll that Xue had magically sent their way. As they opened it, their initially puzzled expressions transformed into sheer excitement. This was indeed a grand gift from Xue!
Overwhelmed with joy, the two embraced tightly, watching as Xue and Yao Guang walked away, their hearts filled with gratitude.
"Xue, what did you just give Liu Qing?" Yao Guang asked curiously, recalling how ecstatic Liu Qing and Xiao Yao Hao had looked moments ago.
"A great gift for them," Xue replied nonchalantly as he continued walking forward, completely ignoring Yao Guang's inquisitive gaze.
"I know that, but what exactly is it?"
"You'll have to beg me for it."
Xue had picked up some bad habits from Xiao Yao Hao; just look at how he was speaking now—gone was the cold demeanor he used to have.
"Xue, just tell me! I'm begging you!" Yao Guang pleaded helplessly. He decided to feign weakness for now; soon enough, he would make sure Xue regretted it. This was what Yao Guang thought to himself.
"I'm afraid I can't do that," Xue said seriously as he removed his hand from Yao Guang's shoulder.
"Then what would it take for you to do it?" Yao Guang genuinely wanted to know what Xue had given Liu Qing. Although he suspected it was something good, he couldn't understand why Xue wouldn't tell him.
Xue remained silent, his gaze fixed on Yao Guang's lips. The intensity of his stare made Yao Guang feel slightly overwhelmed. No way, Xue couldn't possibly be suggesting...
Yao Guang believed he couldn't do something like that; it would be too embarrassing.
"If you're unwilling, then I won't either. Just know that gift is quite significant," Xue teased.
Xue was clearly enjoying himself, dangling the information just out of reach. Now Yao Guang was even more curious about what Xue had done.
Weighing the pros and cons, Yao Guang stood on tiptoe and lightly brushed against Xue's lips.
"Is that all? I hardly felt anything," Xue whispered mischievously in Yao Guang's ear.
This was mortifying! What more did he expect? This was already pushing the limits of what Yao Guang could handle. He thought to himself, feeling shy.
Seeing Yao Guang's reaction, Xue realized he shouldn't push too far. Fine, he would let Yao Guang off the hook this time.
"Liu Qing already has the Solidifying Pearl protecting him, you know," he said.
Yao Guang nodded; he was aware of that. But what did this have to do with the significant gift?
"Do you know that if a deity obtains the Solidifying Pearl, it can only solidify the soul? This pearl is of no use to mortals. At that time, they were unaware that for a mortal's soul, not only can it solidify her soul, but it can also bring her back to life, allowing her to continue living as a human."
"Reviving the dead!" Yao Guang did not expect that the Solidifying Pearl had such a function. It was truly an unexpected delight.
"Then Liu Qing is...?"

Yao Guang had only thought that Liu Qing could stay in the mortal realm to accompany Xiao Yao Hao in this lifetime, but she never imagined that Liu Qing could actually be reborn. This girl, thankfully, had not forgotten herself and still remembered her. Previously, seeing how good she was to Liu Qing made Xue feel a bit jealous. However, now that he saw Yao Guang had not forgotten him either, he felt much better.

With Xue's reassurance, Yao Guang's heart was completely filled with joy. She happily ran along the path in the woods, expressing her elation.
Xue followed behind her, watching her joyful demeanor, and couldn't help but smile.
