Yama's Wedding
"Yao Guang, I really don't have anything serious. That day, it was just that my magical energy was a bit depleted," Xue said, lying on the bed with a wry smile as he looked at Yao Guang, who was bustling around the room.
"No way, no matter what, you need to lie down properly," Yao Guang insisted, pushing Xue back onto the bed. "I don't want you to end up looking sickly and make me worry about taking care of you."
Without hesitation, Yao Guang picked up the medicine prescribed by the doctor and sat beside Xue, blowing on it to cool it down.
"Here, drink this."
Looking at the herbal medicine being handed to him, Xue felt a bitter taste in his mouth. "Yao Guang, can’t I skip this? I'm a celestial being; human medicine doesn’t really work on me." He wouldn’t admit that he was afraid of the bitter concoction.
"No way, you have to drink it," Yao Guang replied firmly. She remembered all too well that this self-proclaimed celestial being had fainted for two whole days after she brought him back to his room. If she hadn’t seen how he looked, she might have considered ending her own life out of despair. Now that he had finally woken up, even if this medicine had little effect, it was still a supplement from the human world. Drinking it was better than not drinking it at all. Yao Guang was determined not to compromise on this matter.
"Yao Guang, I really don’t need to drink this. Look at me; I’m perfectly fine now. It was just an accident," Xue said, knowing that his two-day slumber had caused Yao Guang immense worry. When he woke up, he saw her eyes were swollen from lack of sleep. Liu Qing and Xiao Yao Hao had been sent away by Yao Guang after staying up with him for two nights without rest. Yao Guang truly cared for him, but facing the bowl of dark herbal medicine before him, Xue still didn’t want to drink it.
"No way, you have to drink it," Yao Guang reiterated fiercely. She recalled how worried she had been when he fainted for those two days. Now that he was awake, even if the medicine didn’t do much good, it was still better than nothing. She would not relent on this issue.
"Xue, are you afraid of taking medicine?" Yao Guang noticed something off; she hadn’t thought much of it before, but recently whenever she tried to get him to take his medicine, he always found excuses to avoid it.
"Of course not! There’s no such thing!" Caught by Yao Guang’s keen observation, Xue felt a bit guilty.
"Pfft! Hahahaha! With that expression of yours, it's obvious! Who would have thought that the great King Yan is afraid of taking medicine?" Yao Guang finally realized that Xue was indeed scared of drinking the medicine. Just look at how tense he was while staring at the herbal concoction in her hand; no one would believe he wasn’t afraid!
"Damn it, I should have brought some elixirs with me when I came out. Now I have to endure Yao Guang's mockery. What a blunder," Xue thought to himself, feeling frustrated for forgetting. The elixirs from the Underworld were far superior to the ones in this world. That's right, he, Revolving King Xue, feared bitter things the most, especially herbs like these from the mortal realm; they could easily cause his cultivation to drop several levels.
"Yao Guang, stop laughing," Xue said helplessly, watching Yao Guang burst into uncontrollable laughter. How long would this girl continue to mock him?
"Okay, okay, I won't laugh anymore," Yao Guang said, trying hard to suppress her laughter. She held out the medicine in front of Xue and said, "Here. Drink it; it's cooled down now."
"I have to drink it?" Xue groaned.
What he received in return was a firm nod from Yao Guang. It seemed he couldn't escape this one. Looking at Yao Guang, he thought of an idea. "Fine, I'll drink it if you feed me."
As long as Xue could get it down, feeding him was no problem; after all, hadn't he been the one feeding her all this time?
Yao Guang didn't realize that Xue's "feeding" was quite different from what she had in mind.
Sitting by the bed, Yao Guang picked up a spoon, blew on it gently, and brought it to Xue's lips. With his eyes closed and heart steeled, Xue swallowed the contents of the spoon. The bitter taste hit him immediately, making him feel as if his insides were about to turn inside out.
"Medicine, heart medicine," Xue said as he pulled Yao Guang into his embrace. In the next moment, Yao Guang felt her lips enveloped by something soft.
Xue pressed his lips closely against Yao Guang, who worried that the medicine in her hands might spill and could only let him do as he pleased.
Xue patiently guided Yao Guang, prying open her mouth with his tongue.
Yao Guang felt the bitterness of the herbal medicine coming from Xue's mouth. Just as she was about to pull away, Xue chased after her, refusing to let go. Their movements were clumsy yet incredibly gentle. Xue ld onto Yao Guang's tongue and slowly guided her to follow his lead. The bitter medicine swirled back and forth between their mouths until both were filled with its taste before Xue finally ended the kiss and swallowed the bitter concoction.
Yao Guang was dizzy from the kiss, unsure of how to breathe.
"This is the correct way to feed me," Xue said, looking at Yao Guang and emphasizing the word "feed."
Upon hearing this, Yao Guang's face flushed instantly, still carrying a faint herbal scent on her lips.
Shyly, Yao Guang set down the bowl in her hands and said, "You... you drink it yourself." After saying this, she covered her face and ran out. No matter how many times she had kissed Xue, she remained as bashful as ever.
Xue watched Yao Guang rush out and picked up the bowl that had been left on the edge of the bed. Yao Guang truly was amusing. After drinking the medicine in the bowl, a smile appeared at the corners of Xue's mouth. Indeed, this way of "feeding" was quite pleasant; even the bitter medicine tasted sweet. It seemed he would like to experience this again when Yao Guang came to deliver medicine. He regretted not thinking of such a good method earlier, enduring unnecessary suffering.
However, Xue did not anticipate that after this incident, Yao Guang would stop administering the medicine altogether. She believed her illness should be cured. No matter how Xue pretended to be weak, Yao Guang refused to brew any more medicine for him. Xue could only lament silently for missing such a wonderful opportunity.
Of course, that was a matter for another time.
