Xue received a distress signal from Yao Guang and could only brace himself as he spoke into the void, "I don't know how you were banished to the mortal realm."
"You little brat, why aren't you calling me senior anymore?" The void responded to Xue.
"Hah, old man, do you even know who we are? You really have the audacity to call yourself our senior," Yao Guang interjected. This void being had only been a celestial for a mere thousand years; even without considering his previous celestial age, Yao Guang's current celestial age was likely greater. Moreover, Xue was an ancient deity, far more senior than this void creature. Xue had only referred to him as 'senior' out of respect. Now that they knew this void being had been banished a thousand years ago, there was no need to continue addressing him as such.
"Who are you all, anyway?" The void being squinted at Yao Guang and the others.
"Pfft, you're just a mere celestial; why should we call you senior? Those few 'senior' titles earlier should have already shortened your lifespan," Yao Guang retorted.
"Who exactly are you?!" Now the void being's curiosity was piqued; he genuinely wanted to know who these two were. Yao Guang's brazen demeanor didn't seem like mere empty talk, and Xue's imposing presence suggested he was not someone to be trifled with. The void scrutinized them closely but still couldn't discern their backgrounds.
"I am Revolving King Xue, and this is Star Lord Yao Guang," Xue introduced himself and his companion.
Yao Guang found it amusing to watch the void being. Initially distracted by Xue's words, the moment Xue revealed their identities, the void's face transformed as if struck by a blow, displaying a myriad of expressions in rapid succession.
"You... you... you..." The void stammered, his wrinkles deepening and his face contorting in a way that made it hard to recognize him.
"W-what's wrong with us? We were just speaking nicely," Yao Guang said, feeling a sense of satisfaction at the sight of the void being's reaction. It was gratifying to see someone who had been so rude suddenly humbled, especially after igniting their curiosity yet refusing to engage further.
"Star Lord Yao Guang, I did not recognize your greatness earlier and have offended you," the void being stood up and apologized to Yao Guang.
"Hey, what about Xue?" Yao Guang said unhappily. Although he had apologized to himself, not apologizing to Xue was a big deal. It was one thing for him to be ignored, but Xue could not be overlooked.
"Oh, of course, there's Revolving King Xue. I apologize to you," the Void said as he bowed to Xue. "Star Lord Yao Guang, how have you been these years?" After finishing his apology to Xue, the Void immediately turned back to Yao Guang and asked.
"Wait, I don't know you," Yao Guang said, startled by the sudden enthusiasm of the Void. He quickly retreated behind Xue.
What was going on with this Void? Why was he suddenly so concerned about him? Besides, Yao Guang believed he had never known the Void before.
"Star Lord Yao Guang, you may not remember me, but I have always remembered your kindness from long ago. I have been unable to repay that favor. Later, I heard that you were demoted to the mortal realm by the Jade Emperor, and then I too was sent down. This unfulfilled gratitude has always been a regret in my heart..." The Void looked at Yao Guang with burning eyes, continuously expressing his gratitude.
"Stop! Wait a minute! You’re just talking to yourself here; I don’t understand a word of what you’re saying. What is going on?" Yao Guang interrupted the Void's words of admiration and gratitude. "Also, speak properly! Don't look at me like that; it feels really strange. Besides, I already have a husband! If you keep looking at me like that, my husband will get angry." With that, Yao Guang deliberately shook Xue's arm and linked it with his own as a show of defiance toward the Void.
Xue could only watch Yao Guang flaunt herself and went along with her. What he wanted to know now was what exactly Yao Guang had done back then to earn such deep gratitude from this Fallen Immortal, who had once seemed so reckless.
"Oh! I’m just so excited to see my benefactor that I lost my composure for a moment," the Void said as he patted his head. He was indeed too excited; finally, he could repay Star Lord Yao Guang for his kindness. He never owed anyone anything except for this person in front of him. For him, Yao Guang had helped him immensely back in the day. Compared to the indifferent court, Star Lord Yao Guang was the most humane.
"This is a long story; I wonder if Star Lord Yao Guang has the patience to listen," the Void said. Since learning that Yao Guang was his benefactor from back then, his attitude toward them had completely turned around. Meanwhile, Xue could only silently stay beside Yao Guang as he was completely ignored by the Void. Naturally, there was no anger from the Void toward Yao Guang at this moment; after all, she was the one who had spoken up for him back then and stood against the Emperor. It was worth it for him to repay Star Lord Yao Guang whom he had longed to thank.
"Then make it short and get on with it," Yao Guang said impatiently as she waved her hand. The way the Void looked at her felt like he wanted to devour her; if it weren't for wanting to figure out what was going on, she wouldn't want to hear him speak while looking at her like that—it made her uncomfortable all over. Moreover, she needed to hurry and go out with Xue; she didn't know how Liu Qing and the others were doing. She and Xue had both fainted without saying goodbye for quite some time; Liu Qing must be worried sick about them not being around. She also didn't know how Xiao Yao Hao would bully Liu Qing in her absence. Xiao Yao Hao had never been kind-hearted; regardless of how things were before, now it truly made Yao Guang anxious. Thinking of all this made her wish she could return right away instead of wasting time listening to stories here. Furthermore, this person in front of her who was smiling so brightly had just been obstructing her and Xue from leaving; he clearly knew how to let them go but chose to play coy instead. Of course, Yao Guang couldn't give him any good looks.
"Don't worry, Star Lord Yao Guang; I will quickly clarify everything for you," the Void said eagerly upon hearing that Yao Guang wanted to know his story. He immediately smoothed out his wrinkles and smiled at her but was met with disdain from Yao Guang. The Void didn’t mind and continued trying to please her even more. He even eagerly invited Yao Guang to sit down while completely ignoring Xue again. This was the first time Xue had been so thoroughly overlooked; fortunately, Yao Guang hadn’t forgotten about him and pulled him down to sit together.
"Star Lord Yao Guang, let me tell you about what happened back then," the Void said as he sat in front of them both and began recounting the events of years past.
