Yao Guang looked at Xue walking ahead, feeling a bit anxious. This was the person she liked. He was just as he had always been—tall and slender, with long hair like ink, casually tied back with a simple band. His straight posture and broad shoulders made her heart race. As Yao Guang walked behind him, it felt as if she were flying, each step as soft as walking on cotton. In her mind and eyes, there was only this person in front of her. 0

“Yao Guang, why?” Xue asked, sensing the intense gaze behind him. As a celestial being, his senses were sharper than those of ordinary people, and Yao Guang's gaze was impossible to ignore. However, as soon as he spoke, he inwardly cursed himself for such an impulsive question. 0

The unexpected question snapped Yao Guang back to reality. Although it seemed random, she suddenly understood. “Because I like you,” she confessed shyly, lowering her head. Such bold words were not typical of her character, but this was the person she had long pursued. What else could she do? Too much time had passed since their first meeting until he was banished to the Underworld and everything that followed. Her feelings had only deepened over time; she could not forget him. 0

After a while without a response from Xue, Yao Guang felt a surge of frustration. Was he angry? It was understandable; anyone would be startled by such an abrupt confession. Besides, to Xue, she must still be a stranger. 0

In truth, Xue was taken aback. He had asked that question thinking Yao Guang wouldn’t understand; he never expected her to not only comprehend but also confess her feelings so suddenly. The problem was that his impression of Yao Guang still lingered on that chubby child from years ago. Anyone would struggle to respond in such a situation. Thus, our great Wheel King found himself utterly blank-minded at that moment, unable to think of any reaction to give Yao Guang. 0

After what felt like an eternity, Xue finally gathered his scattered thoughts. Facing Yao Guang, he hesitated over what to say next. “Yao Guang, you still don’t understand love.” He thought it best to dispel any notions she had about him. 0

“I do understand! I’m already thousands of years old! People can marry in their teens!” Yao Guang retorted defiantly. 0

“Cough! That’s in the mortal realm. For celestial beings like us... you’re still young! Look at me; I’m over a hundred thousand years old.” 0

“Wait! You’re over a hundred thousand years old?” Yao Guang exclaimed in surprise upon hearing this for the first time. While she knew Xue was older than her, she hadn’t realized he was that old—an age that could rival even the Jade Emperor. 0

“I don’t care! I just like you!” Despite feeling shy, Yao Guang shouted out passionately. 0

Xue looked helplessly at the girl before him whose face had turned crimson. She seemed so fragile that a gust of wind could knock her over, yet here she was being so stubborn. 0

"Yao Guang, you know I have to send you back to the Underworld." Xue lowered his gaze, his eyes revealing a sense of detachment. 0

The atmosphere around them suddenly grew colder. Yao Guang realized she must have upset Xue, but she truly liked the person before her. "Can you... can you not send me back to the Underworld so quickly?" Yao Guang fought back her tears, not wanting Xue to see her in such a pitiful state. It was clear he didn't like her; she had known that for a long time. Therefore, she couldn't cry in front of him; it would only make him dislike her more. Yao Guang lowered her head and bit her lip hard, suppressing any sound. 0

It seemed that her words had made Yao Guang pause, but seeing the obvious tremor in her voice, Xue felt a twinge of reluctance. For the first time, he regretted having said those words so suddenly. However, given the current situation, there was no way he could take them back. He noticed her shoulders trembling slightly; this child was truly afraid of being sent back to the Underworld. It seemed this matter needed to be reported to Yama King. He hoped that Yama King would show some leniency and allow him to restore Yao Guang's soul before sending her into reincarnation. At this thought, a surge of anger rose within him. How could the Jade Emperor be so heartless as to assign such a fate of ten lifetimes to Yao Guang? Although deities return to the court to wash away the impurities of the mortal world and reshape their golden bodies, this punishment seemed excessively harsh. Nevertheless, in the next life, he would do his utmost to protect her, as a way to repay this deep affection. 0

Not receiving a response from Xue made Yao Guang's heart race with anxiety. Did he really dislike her that much? After a thousand years, they had just met; they hadn't even had the chance to truly look at each other before he wanted to send her away. She wasn't afraid of reincarnation, but she had hoped for just a little more time with him. It turned out that she was just being foolishly optimistic. 0

"Let's go." With those words, Xue strode forward. 0

"Uh, wait for me." Upon hearing Xue's response—though it was just two short words—Yao Guang's heart soared with happiness. Was he allowing her to follow him? Did that mean he wouldn't send her away just yet? How wonderful it was to walk alongside Xue on this path. Yao Guang quietly glanced at him and slowly moved closer. 0

Xue ard Yao Guang's footsteps catching up behind him and perhaps without realizing it himself, he had subtly slowed his pace. 0

In the glow of the setting sun, one figure leaned closely against another, a face full of smiles that even the surrounding clouds blushed crimson. 0
