In the battle of the Northern Four Islands, both humanity and the Zombies suffered heavy losses. For nearly half a month, everyone maintained a calm demeanor, refraining from large-scale combat.
Through their efforts over the past half month, Lin Yi and Reck finally returned to their peak condition. The Armed Forces stationed in Paris were also fully prepared, and the Resistance decided to further expand their victories.
On the European continent, Lin Yi's Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps led a carpet-style offensive, while in North Africa, the Resistance took charge, with the ultimate goal of covering the entire continent of Africa.
During these days, others were not idle either; they engaged in extensive propaganda efforts. Jiao Jiao, responsible for intelligence, had become the leading figure in promoting the Human Camp's message, infiltrating the Zombies' ranks to spread resistance against them. Within the entire Zombie kingdom, there were still many who believed in the existence of an eternal realm. Most of these individuals came from the lower strata of society or were critically ill and nearing death. However, most of them had already undergone Corpseification, rendering typical propaganda ineffective.
Jiao Jiao's ability to penetrate Zombie territory was largely thanks to Charlie's assistance. Charlie had become a secret liaison for humanity within the Zombie ranks, regularly exchanging intelligence and handling propaganda work with Jiao Jiao.
Originally, Lin Yi had the strength to rescue Charlie, but he understood that Charlie's current situation allowed him to realize his life’s value better among the Zombies. Moreover, with his Bestow Unique Ability to remain invisible, he could evade Zombie attention in most situations.
Lin Yi ultimately chose not to interfere with Charlie's decision. It was clear that resisting the Zombies could not rely solely on him; it required a collective effort from everyone. Charlie played a significant role in this endeavor and was able to relay useful information back to the Human Camp. Lin Yi knew he couldn't protect everyone; even Black and Red wished for Charlie's return, but ultimately everyone accepted Charlie's actions.
When spring arrived, the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps launched its first large-scale attack, decisively eliminating all Zombies in France! This time they proceeded cautiously, executing all traitors who surrendered to the Zombies. No Zombie could be spared now; those still dreaming of an "eternal realm" were isolated for re-education.
Much of the intelligence regarding France came from underground resistance organizations led by Charlie, particularly concerning traitors hidden within human society. These operations were conducted discreetly to prevent any awareness from the Zombies, which was a terrifying prospect for the underground resistance.
During the re-education process for those clinging to dreams of an "eternal realm," Lin Yi experienced firsthand what it meant to be stubbornly resistant to change; no matter what was said, they remained convinced by Zombie propaganda. Ultimately, it was Wu Hao who intervened directly using mind-reading techniques to breach their mental defenses. In the end, these individuals cried out in regret for having believed in Zombie nonsense.
Using their own experiences as cautionary tales served unexpectedly well in warning others still lost in their dreams. This revelation greatly inspired Lin Yi; he finally understood the importance of propaganda. Initially resistant to promoting his heroic deeds, he eventually accepted it.
Of course, regarding the Zombies' schemes, Lin Yi spared no effort in spreading counter-propaganda. Through Charlie's connections, promotional materials infiltrated deep into Zombie strongholds. In no time at all, unrest began brewing within Zombie-occupied territories as they became aware something was amiss and initiated a search operation.
To alleviate pressure on Charlie, both the Mercenary Alliance and Resistance operated on two fronts, pushing almost non-stop into Zombie territory.
On May 15th of Year 045, Blood Envoy reached beneath Berlin Fortress—a major stronghold for the Zombies. However, under Lin Yi's near-full assault, seven Super Tier Zombies perished that day. The Zombies found themselves utterly defenseless and could only watch helplessly as they were slaughtered.
The soaring momentum of the Human Camp continuously inspired those trapped in despair, and their resistance grew stronger with each passing moment. Waves of rebellion erupted across the globe. The Zombie forces found themselves in chaos; these humans were considered "food" for the Zombies, and it was impossible for them to kill them all. They could only suppress a portion to intimidate the rest.
After a week of this, aside from leaving behind necessary guards, the rest followed Lin Yi directly to the outskirts of Moscow City. In March, Moscow was still covered in ice and snow, with the entire land draped in a silver blanket. However, there was no time to admire the scenery as they immediately plunged into battle.
Moscow was the last major fortress of the Zombies in Europe. Although Lin Yi swiftly dispatched High-Level Zombies, his side also suffered significant losses. Danny, a Nine-Star expert under Witerson II, unfortunately fell victim to the Zombies. Now, only Medic Ike and Akin remained, primarily focused on logistical support.
Danny had struggled to break through his own limitations until Lin Yi helped him achieve Nine-Star Combat Power. However, Lin Yi never expected that his well-intentioned assistance would ultimately lead to Danny's demise.
Once the Moscow fortress was breached, Lin Yi quickly covered all Zombies to prevent their final frenzy of slaughtering human "food." As he opened a cell door, he saw a burly man whose mouth was completely sealed by a metal mask and whose body was locked up, making it nearly impossible for him to move.
Lin Yi recognized him and waved his hand to remove the metal mask and chains from his face! As soon as he did, a familiar face appeared before him.
"You are... you are Raymond Commander!" Lin Yi was surprised to encounter an acquaintance in such a place; this man with extraordinary Sonic Ability was someone he would meet again.
"Captain Lin, thank you for saving my life!" Raymond had initially intended to vent his anger but stopped in his tracks upon seeing Lin Yi.
Looking at Raymond's scarred face made Lin Yi feel a pang of discomfort. How much suffering had these people endured under the control of the Zombies? Perhaps even they themselves could hardly comprehend it.
"You've worked hard, Raymond Commander!" Lin Yi knew that any comfort he offered now would be too little too late; they were the true warriors who had persevered until the end!
At that moment, Raymond's expression changed as if he recalled something troubling. He sighed softly and said, "Compared to your colleague, I think my suffering is nothing!"
Lin Yi paused; he had many colleagues and immediately asked with confusion, "Which colleague?"
"Which one? That SIS Director! Your contact stationed in Moscow!" Raymond looked at Lin Yi incredulously. This matter had been circulating for quite some time; how could the renowned Captain Lin not know about it?
"Sith? What happened to him?" Although Lin Yi had a good memory, it took him a second to finally recall the short-statured SIS Director. At that time, he felt that Sith had not treated him well and thus did not pay much attention to him.
"Alas, he was unfortunate; the Zombie devoured him alive!" Even a tough man like Raymond turned pale at the thought of that scene. For anyone with a conscience, it was an unforgettable nightmare!
"Devoured?" Lin Yi's eyes widened in anger. How could they eat a person alive?
"These beasts—no, they are worse than beasts! The SIS Director knew a lot about the Mercenaries but refused to come out. Those Zombies chopped off all of the SIS Director's limbs and ate them right in front of him! Then a High-Level Zombie started slicing the flesh off the SIS Director's body, avoiding only the vital parts!
It went on for so long, and we were forced to watch! By the time the SIS Director died, there wasn't a single piece of intact flesh left on him! He was tortured to death by that Zombie!
In the end, we all went into a frenzy, but we were no match for the Zombies; nearly half of us were slaughtered. The rest of us, like me, exhausted our energy and were completely immobilized!"
Listening to Raymond's account, Lin Yi realized just how cruel these Zombies were. To them, human lives were nothing more than a joke.
"I will build a statue for Sith to warn future generations about how this warrior upheld his principles. It will also serve as a reminder to those shameful traitors who sell out humanity for profit—they do not deserve to be called human!" Lin Yi clenched his fists, his face twisted with rage. Although Sith was dead, his death was noble!
"Alright! I'm going out now to teach these monsters a lesson and let them know we are not to be trifled with!" Raymond waved his thin arm and charged out first. At that moment, Lin Yi did not stop the furious Captain; he understood that Raymond needed to vent his pent-up frustration!
"Roar——" A powerful sonic wave erupted from Raymond's mouth, sending those Zombies attempting to approach flying backward! At that moment, more and more people emerged.
These individuals from the Fighting Nation, though battered and bruised, even struggling to walk steadily, resembled fierce Bulls ready for battle. Upon seeing the Zombies, they charged forward without hesitation, regardless of whether they could win or not, and began furiously attacking those Zombies!
