"Yes, yes, thank you for taking care of me all these years. If it weren't for you, the Reck Family might really have no successors!" Reck had a scheming look on his face, eager to take Brice away immediately.
Lin Yi frowned. According to Cook's law, the Reck Family had always been powerful, with their members scattered across every corner of the world. Why would Reck personally come to claim just one Brice? Even though Brice was progressing quickly now, he was still just a talent that hadn't fully matured yet and couldn't be considered a formidable force.
"Brice can choose to go with whoever he wants; that's his freedom. I'm just curious why you chose Brice," Lin Yi said directly, knowing it wasn't the time to argue.
"Every strong individual must go through trials; he wouldn't follow me at first. The previous candidates were spread out all over the world, but unfortunately, none survived the recent Zombie Crisis!"
Reck's expression turned somewhat bleak. Although he was powerful, none of his juniors had truly grown up.
"Alright, then you talk to Brice. I respect his choice!" Lin Yi naturally wouldn't force a member of his Mercenary team to stay, but if Brice chose to go with Reck, he wouldn't stop him.
Seeing that Lin Yi didn't oppose him, Reck finally relaxed. With his status, he couldn't resort to outright coercion.

Lin Yi's expression grew darker as Reck spoke. It felt as if someone had told him that an enemy he had regarded as such for decades was actually his savior!
What Cook had told Lin Yi earlier was far less clear than what Reck explained; Cook merely informed him that Li Qiweng had fallen under Zombie control and was almost like a puppet.
Although Lin Yi wanted to rescue Li Qiweng at that time, he hadn't received any news about her. Moreover, he had become very close with Ying Sa; especially after learning about Li Qiweng's situation, Ying Sa had just told him she was pregnant. "So, Mr. Reck means I shouldn't misunderstand her?" Lin Yi took a deep breath, trying to appear indifferent. But to someone like Reck, who had lived for hundreds of years, this expression only confirmed Li Qiweng's significant place in Lin Yi's heart.

"That individual is indeed powerful but hasn't taken that final step yet. This time Brother Cook is seriously injured; he's in no condition to act because we've interrupted his evolution phase. He won't intervene because of Li Qiweng!" Reck's meaning was clear enough; however, Lin Yi wasn't easily fooled.
The current situation was such that if Lin Yi did not act now, he would have no hope with Li Qiweng for the rest of his life. On one hand, if Li Qiweng became an ultra-powerful being with First Generation Zombie strength, this planet would be completely under new ownership.
