Froeman's eyelids twitched; being a seasoned veteran, he naturally understood that Ying Sa's words were mostly true. However, regarding the matter of his severed arm, as a soldier, he blamed himself more for his lack of strength.
"General!"
Oku flashed to Froeman's side, still grappling with his unresolved feelings. It wasn't just about Froeman's lost arm; it was also about the death of his brother.
"Of course, I can only apologize for what happened before. I sincerely apologize for my incorrect judgment!"
With that, Ying Sa bowed deeply to everyone, holding the position for nearly ten seconds before raising her head again.
"Sister Ying, we were on opposing sides back then. You've made your stance clear now; if I continue to press the issue, it would show my lack of understanding. I won't pursue those past matters any further, but my brother's attitude is beyond my control." Froeman pointed at Oku, whose face was grim. These people had followed him this far, and now only Oku remained; Froeman felt a myriad of emotions in his heart.
For Oku, Ryan's death was a deadlock. If not for the vast difference in strength between him and Ying Sa, he would have rushed in to fight. However, he wasn't stubborn; he knew that the current situation couldn't be entirely blamed on Ying Sa.
With a "bang," Oku punched the nearby metal door and then turned to storm out.
"Don't worry; he's just struggling with his feelings. Once he comes to terms with it, he'll realize that our true enemy isn't Sister Ying," Froeman reassured everyone as he noticed their tense expressions. He understood this old comrade better than most.
"Alright then, let's welcome our new member, Ying Sa!"
Lin Yi forced a smile and spoke up to ease the awkward atmosphere. At that moment, Renesmee smiled at Ying Sa and gave her a light hug.
Tina was also thrilled to see a new female member join and bounced over to greet Ying Sa with a cheek-to-cheek gesture before grabbing her hand and chattering away excitedly.
The twin brothers squeezed in to give Ying Sa a hug, but Tina kept blocking them from getting close. The atmosphere at the scene lightened considerably due to the antics of these young people.
With this, it seemed that everyone had accepted Ying Sa. Lin Yi felt a sense of relief; after all, not long ago, it was Ying Sa who had led people chasing them around the world in a desperate escape.
After days of travel, they finally returned to their own camp. Lin Yi arranged some matters and then decided to rest. As for what would happen next, he planned to deal with it after he woke up. Just as Lin Yi was about to fall asleep, he sensed someone at his bedroom door preparing to knock. However, after waiting for a long time, that delicate hand never came down; instead, it turned and returned to its own room.
The next day, the submarine slowly ascended. According to Froeman's observations, they had surprisingly approached Australia! However, they had arrived at the West Coast this time, which was relatively more desolate compared to the Eastern Coast. With the spread of zombies in Australia, it was hard to tell which area was truly more desolate.
The submarine was equipped with a basic Intelligent System, and Froeman was experienced. After some effort, he had completely mastered the entire submarine. This time, the submarine did not surface; everyone directly emerged from it about a hundred meters below the ocean's surface and set the submarine to automatic navigation mode as they secretly headed toward their new destination.
As for Lin Yi and the others coming to Australia, it was because of Ying Sa. According to the information she had received, there was a huge secret about zombies hidden here!
As soon as they reached the Eastern African Coast, they heard several familiar roars—those were from zombies that they had previously slain in large numbers.
A cold glint flashed in Lin Yi's eyes as he leaped forward, his Blade Qi slicing through the air!
In the next moment, silver light flashed wildly as Lin Yi's figure blurred and appeared opposite the zombie. Then came a loud crash as the remaining dark blood from the zombie gushed out, and its corpse shattered into pieces that fell to the ground!
"Three-Star Zombie?" Froeman rushed over as well. Although his movements were not as quick as Lin Yi's, he sensed the strength of this zombie.
"This is indeed the key area for Zombies. The first Zombie I encountered has a Three-Star combat power!" Lin Yi radiated his Psychic Power to observe the surroundings for dozens of kilometers, only to find that there were no other Zombies nearby.
"Wait, there are still living people around!"
In the next moment, Lin Yi's eyelids twitched as he clearly sensed a gathering point of humans not far away, and among them, there were evidently no strong individuals!
"Living people?" Renesmee glanced around at the scene. The area was in ruins, with many places charred and blackened. Unknown skeletons lay scattered about, and occasionally, a sea breeze would carry a strong smell of blood.
Such a place was not hell, but it was terrifying for ordinary people.
"Follow me!"
Lin Yi called out to the others. In the direction he had observed, hundreds of people were gathered together, but their aura felt very strange to Lin Yi, leaving him uncertain.
A few quick-witted individuals immediately followed Lin Yi's lead. Along the desolate Eastern African Coastline, several shadows darted toward a specific direction at an almost imperceptible speed, disappearing in no time.
Moments later, Lin Yi and the others stopped outside a wall. The wall was no more than three meters high and roughly circular, with a diameter not exceeding one hundred meters. The entire structure was extremely crude, built simply from stones and bonded with some adhesive.
This was precisely where Lin Yi sensed the presence of living beings; however, standing there now made him doubt his own perception as he couldn't hear a single voice.
Moreover, this large wall felt less like a settlement and more like a Cage for keeping animals. Lin Yi halted his steps and released his Psychic Power once again. Unlike before, he didn't even have an extra monitoring device with him now.
In the next moment, a powerful surge of Psychic Power erupted forth, causing the surrounding dry grass to nearly be uprooted by the waves of energy.
In just a few breaths, a scene appeared in Lin Yi's mind. Hundreds of men and women dressed in simple robes sat together within the walls, occasionally moving in a rhythmic manner, but more often than not, they were lost in thought. Strangely, several infants among them seemed no different from ordinary babies; some were sleeping in cradles while others were lying in front of women, nursing.
Lin Yi's brow twitched. At first glance, these people appeared to be like anyone else, yet they lacked the spirit that one would expect from humans.
"We should go in and take a look; there are no experts here!"
Lin Yi had sensed it too—within the walls, there wasn't even a single elite Special Forces soldier present; only ordinary people filled the space. Even if there was some trickery at play, Lin Yi believed that he and his companions could handle it with ease.
The exit from the wall was merely a two-meter-wide opening, blocked by a wooden door made from a single piece of timber.
"Creak."
Lin Yi raised his hand to push open the door and stepped inside, only to find the people still sitting in the center of the circle, completely unresponsive.
"Who is in charge here?"
Froeman glanced around at the scene. The area with hundreds of people was eerily quiet, as if no one were present at all. He couldn't help but feel that something was off and decided to inquire.
The silence remained unchanged; even the sound of the sea breeze from dozens of kilometers away seemed unusually clear due to the stillness surrounding them.
"Whoosh—"
Lin Yi moved swiftly to stand before the nearest man. It was at this moment that he realized the peculiarity of this place. The man appeared to have a healthy complexion, yet his eyes were an eerie gray, completely unlike those of a human.
"Hey, buddy..."
Lin Yi reached out and waved his hand in front of the man's eyes, but he noticed that the man showed no reaction at all. Upon closer inspection, Lin Yi realized that there was not a single reflection of the outside world in the man's eyes.
"What’s going on?" Lin Yi looked around and found that most people were in a similar state. However, he soon noticed a few women nursing their babies who seemed to be watching him and his companions, albeit with a dazed expression.
Lin Yi waved his hand, signaling for a few people to come over. He felt that something was off about this place. The others quickly approached, while the women continued nursing without changing their expressions, occasionally glancing up with indifferent looks.
As for the children in the women’s arms, they were even stranger; their nursing behavior was extremely aggressive, making Lin Yi feel as if they were trying to drain the very lifeblood from the nursing mothers.
"Something's not right; their energy feels off!" The cautious Froeman reached out to check the pulse of a few women, only to find their pulses extremely weak. Yet, there was an energy coursing through them that seemed to sustain their lives.
Ying Sa also sensed something was wrong and quickly pulled out a specialized detector designed to test for the Zombie Virus. Her movements were swift; before anyone could react, she had already drawn a drop of blood from one of the women.
Everyone immediately noticed that the blood was extremely pale and mixed with an unknown black liquid. As soon as the blood entered the detector, it began analyzing it right away!
"What’s happening?" Lin Yi caught a faint whiff of an unclear, putrid smell.
"This is strange; how can human blood and the Zombie Virus coexist?" Ying Sa looked at the data with confusion. Once humans are infected with the Zombie Virus, their bodies become hosts for the virus, but this blood sample clearly did not fit that description.
