Thinking of this state, Lin Yi suddenly felt an indescribable pain in his heart. No matter how much Lin Yi's status had changed, he always hoped to maintain that close relationship with those dear to him. However, when he saw Gal's unfamiliar gaze, Lin Yi knew it was no longer possible.
"Thank you for your generous support, Captain Lin. We, the Masai Tribe, are not well-off either, and this money will almost make up for our losses," Gal suddenly smiled and then signaled everyone to quiet down.
Seeing Gal smile, Lin Yi thought he had been forgiven. But when he noticed the indifference hidden deep within Gal's smile, Lin Yi ultimately gave up on trying to explain anything further.
He had thoroughly offended the Masai Tribe.
"Where are you planning to go?" Lin Yi couldn't help but ask. These people had helped him, and it would be terrible if they encountered any problems later on.
Moreover, this was foreign land; the sudden arrival of tens of thousands of people would definitely pose a problem.
"Where are we going? Naturally, we are going to turn ourselves in. If we have done wrong, we must understand how to admit our mistakes!" Gal looked at Lin Yi and spoke slowly.
Then, Gal waved to the crowd: "Everyone, if we want to survive, we must pay the price for our mistakes! Now that the High Priest is dead and Amei is dead, that is the cost.
If we continue to stay with these people, I believe the next ones to die will be you and me! I, Gal, am not afraid of death, but I do not want to die for some inexplicable reason!
So I hope everyone can join me in going to the nearest police station to turn ourselves in before we make a grave mistake. I believe this society will still give us a chance for forgiveness!"
"The captain is right; we cannot stay with these demons. They are disciples of hell and will bring us death and suffering!"
Soon, some people supported Gal's opinion. Under his influence, more and more people raised their right hands in support of him.
The Masai Tribe was a very simple society; apart from the High Priest Pearl Amigal, it was Chief of Security Gal who was responsible for protecting everyone. Now that Pearl Amigal was dead, Gal naturally became the highest leader of the tribe.
"Then, Captain Lin, could you give us a way out?" Gal turned around and coldly looked at Lin Yi.
Gal openly told Lin Yi that he was going to turn himself in, which meant revealing everything he knew about Lin Yi to others.
Lin Yi understood that this would bring him significant trouble. He had not yet recovered and could not use his Bestow Unique Ability. The others were mostly injured as well, their combat power greatly diminished. If their enemies learned of their situation, they would surely make a concerted effort to deal with him.
"Captain Lin, if you don't cut ties when necessary, you'll suffer the consequences!" Oku stepped forward to Lin Yi. The old man, who had always followed Froeman, had deep wrinkles on his forehead and streaks of white hair at his temples.
Yet, there was a tenacity in his eyes that spoke of resilience and strength. The iron will of a soldier was evident at this moment.
However, Lin Yi was not a soldier; he could not truly regard these people as enemies. In fact, all he wanted was for them to leave safely.
Gal's expression changed slightly. He only knew that Lin Yi was the Captain but did not realize that Oku did not take orders from him.
A master close to the Eight Star Level could potentially wipe out the Masai Tribe. While it wouldn’t be easy, it was merely a matter of time. Although Gal had already reached the Three Star Level, facing absolute power at the Seven Star Level would likely result in his immediate defeat.
"Oku! They have sheltered us; don’t go too far!"
Froeman frowned and quickly grabbed Oku, seemingly worried about what unexpected actions he might take.
"Everyone... it's normal for them to hate us. Pearl Amigal was their high priest; his death was unexpected. And as you all saw, Amei's death—Gal could remain in the Masai Tribe only because of Amei. Gal lost all his relatives in Mombasa and had already lost the will to live. Now that Amei is dead, I believe everyone can understand that feeling!"
Lin Yi's Psychic Power had recovered somewhat, and he immediately began to communicate telepathically with everyone to explain the situation. After days of being hunted, these people were filled with pent-up frustration. If they remained silent now, it could easily lead to a major conflict!
"Gal, I apologize for this matter. I do not seek your forgiveness; I only hope we do not meet on the battlefield!"
With that, Lin Yi turned away from the people of the Masai Tribe and waved his hand, signaling them to leave. However, no one noticed the movement of one of Lin Yi's hands as a dark spot vanished from it.
About a quarter of an hour later, the members of the Masai Tribe finally disappeared from everyone's sight. At that moment, Lin Yi activated a wristwatch he carried with him and opened the map feature.
With a soft hum, a three-dimensional map appeared before everyone.
"We're still about thirty kilometers away from Addis Ababa. There's an old brother of mine over there. I just don't know if he still recognizes me as his brother, so I'd like to hear your opinions," Lin Yi thought of a robust figure, someone he hadn't seen since they parted ways three years ago.
Time could dull many things, even the bonds forged in battle.
"Isn't your brother Jimmy? I saw him last time; I think Jimmy wouldn't forget old times!" Nicolas's face was somewhat pale, but he seemed to recall something joyful, his eyes reflecting a hint of delight.
"How about this: when it comes to hiding, you guys can't compare to me. Let's disguise ourselves first and then go find Jimmy. If he doesn't recognize Captain Lin when we get there, we'll figure out another way to leave!"
Lin Yi and his group had been fighting continuously, and everyone was injured to some extent. What they needed most now was proper rest! Especially Renesmee, who had pushed herself to her limits several times using Frozen Domain; she needed time to recover her energy.
"Good idea! I should quickly regain my strength too; at least I want to be able to use Space Tear!" Lin Yi nodded. He wasn't sure what attitude Jimmy would have. Even if Jimmy were willing to help them, it might bring him trouble.
Oku sighed and then vanished without a trace. Caesar and Lori were on guard and couldn't leave casually. So now, the only one who could move around was Oku.
The group didn't wait long; about ten minutes later, Oku returned with a large bag slung over his back, clearly filled with clothes and other items.
Lin Yi and his companions quickly disguised themselves, with Oku taking the lead due to his age, fitting the image of an elder. As for Froeman, since he had lost an arm, he could only do his best to conceal his identity. The younger members of Lin Yi's group posed as Oku's employees who had come to Addis Ababa for some research. To cover Renesmee's stunning beauty, they designed an Islamic identity for her, using a black veil to hide her face while loose robes concealed her graceful figure.
Once everything was ready, they headed toward the City Gate. The thirty-kilometer journey would typically take ordinary people at least four hours, but they completed it in just half an hour. Even so, they felt it was too slow.
The City Gate was still guarded by fully armed sentinels; all passersby needed to go through scanning before entering.
"Lashar, Roots, we'll be relying on you two!" Lin Yi said, though he didn't understand why there were still checkpoints set up here. However, he had already devised a plan.
The twin brothers had regained their energy from the last encounter, and they were confident in dealing with these ordinary guards.
As soon as Lin Yi finished speaking, he felt that familiar surge of unusual energy. Soon, the previously imposing guards looked utterly bewildered.
The group exchanged nods and casually walked through the scanner at a normal pace. They carried no weapons, so the scanner naturally detected nothing unusual.
There weren't many pedestrians on the street, and the shops along the way appeared somewhat desolate. The clerks leaned against door frames, bored as they watched passersby. Lin Yi's group of nine stood out at that moment.
"We should find a place to stay and come out later tonight," Lin Yi suggested, glancing around as if sensing many eyes were watching them.
"Boss, look! Our wanted poster is rolling over there!" Nicolas exclaimed suddenly, pointing at a large LED screen not far away.
Following Nicolas's finger, everyone turned to see Lin Yi's image displayed prominently on a tall building about a kilometer away. However, the image was strange; one half depicted him as a human and the other half as a Zombie!
"A bounty of one billion? Captain Lin's price is truly the highest ever!" Froeman remarked thoughtfully as he stared at the bounty amount on the screen.
Moments later, the screen flashed with wanted posters for Nicolas, Renesmee, the twin brothers, and Tina. However, their bounties were not as exaggerated as Lin Yi's. Renesmee's value was surprisingly set at one million Contribution Points, while Nicolas was only worth one hundred thousand. The other three were valued at just fifty thousand Contribution Points each, which was almost negligible in comparison.
Before long, they realized that such wanted posters were everywhere; even every shop wall displayed their photos!
