Like a sudden thunderclap in the void, Lin Yi's face was filled with shock as Australia reemerged with large-scale Zombies. This was simply too hard to believe.
"This is impossible! Could there be human traitors in Australia?" Lin Yi vividly recalled the three months he spent in Australia a year ago; he couldn't fathom such a thing happening there.
"Rising up doesn't necessarily mean betrayal; they just believe the path they chose is the right one," Li Xianzong's voice came softly, mingling with the rustling leaves of the dense forest, making it seem almost unreal.
"But what does that have to do with my position as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces?" Lin Yi thought for a moment and felt that Li Xianzong's words were not trustworthy.
"Although those generals are indeed exceptional talents, who can guarantee that none among them are traitors? That's why I prefer to have those I trust most in such important positions; only then can I feel at ease! Australia is the best proof; I don't want Lion City under my governance to repeat the same mistakes!"

"Yes, you only live once. No one is willing to die easily, even if it means becoming a Zombie, even if it requires consuming vast amounts of flesh and blood, there will always be someone willing to give it a shot!"

Li Xianzong waved his hand, signaling Lin Yi that he could leave. He then seemed to be giving himself some instructions, mumbling to himself.
Lin Yi didn't particularly enjoy spending too much time with his future father-in-law, so he went downstairs and left directly. Later that evening, an officer came to convey the message about attending the appointment ceremony.

Although the ceremony wasn't as grand as he had imagined, Lin Yi still felt quite satisfied. During this time, he had been recovering from various hidden injuries and had hardly worked—he was truly bored to death!
Meanwhile, Li Qiweng continued working in the Special Operations Department. She had taken over Captain Patch's position, but there were now very few places where she needed to take action herself. The headquarters of Lin Yi's future Armed Division was not far from Li Qiweng's office, which made it convenient for them to develop their relationship.
When Lin Yi told Li Qiweng about his new role as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, she didn't react as he had expected; she simply responded with a faint "mm" and fell silent, even skipping extra food at dinner!

"This is impossible! He... he already married you off to me!" Lin Yi quickly pulled on a pair of shorts, oblivious to the fact that they were still tenting out.
"That's true, but his impression of you only changed recently. I remember him telling me that you wouldn't amount to much. The only reason he agreed to let me marry you was because I fought for it; he didn't want to interfere!
Now he suddenly gives you such an important position; it feels strange. My father is a stubborn man; once he decides something, he won't easily change his mind. Don't forget that during the time I was seriously injured, he could have allowed you to see me, but he never did."
"Then my future father-in-law must have some deep intentions. Does he have some ulterior motive for giving me this position now?" Lin Yi rubbed his head in frustration. Even though he was looked down upon by his future father-in-law, it didn't bother him too much. What mattered was that he loved Li Qiweng; as long as she was by his side, everything felt wonderful.
