"Hello, I am Lin Yi!" Lin Yi knew that this was merely a high-level networking event. Although he despised such superficial gatherings, he had no choice but to attend them time and again.
Thinking carefully, was it really appropriate to discuss exterminating Zombies over coffee on a summer afternoon at some café? That scenario seemed even more unsuitable.
"This time, we welcome Chairman Lin to help us out. Let me introduce the other alliance warriors present!" Albert pointed to a woman in her thirties with a proud figure standing across from him. "This is Sister Elisa, Commander of the Australia First Mercenary Corps and the Golden Mercenary Corps Australia branch. She is also a top-tier expert with Eight-Star Combat Power!"
Lin Yi nodded with a smile. He had actually noticed the female Mercenary Captain at first glance. He was well aware of the Golden Mercenary Corps, and this seemingly cold woman was not known for her combat prowess alone; rather, it was her reckless behavior that garnered attention. In her words, any man she desired would obediently submit under her whip.
The encounters between men and women always marked the most exciting beginnings of stories.
Just as Lin Yi nodded, Captain Elisa unexpectedly moved closer to him. A wave of intoxicating Fragrant Breeze washed over him, and Lin Yi felt an overwhelming sensation that made it hard for him to maintain his composure.
"Chairman Lin has kept me waiting for so long," a soft whisper floated into Lin Yi's ear, sending shivers down his spine.
At that moment, Lin Yi suddenly felt a sharp pain in his palm. Coming back to his senses, he turned around to find Li Qiweng glaring at him, already on the verge of exploding with anger.
"I don't know Sister Elisa at all; how could I have made her wait?" Lin Yi thought to himself. This woman was definitely not simple; he had just fallen into some kind of illusion.
"Chairman Lin's name has spread to every corner of the world. I have admired you for quite some time. Hearing that Chairman Lin is coming to Australia to help us exterminate Zombies, I have been eagerly waiting," Elisa said, seemingly startled as she touched her proud chest, which trembled slightly.
"Chairman Lin is the king in Sister Elisa's heart!" someone shouted from the crowd. However, this was quickly drowned out by other voices.
"Chairman Lin is truly fortunate! We would love to have Sister Elisa's favor but never get the chance!" A rotund man in the crowd leered at Elisa's long, exposed white thighs with his bulging green eyes.
Lin Yi shook his head inwardly and chose not to respond further; he simply gestured for Albert to continue introducing the others. However, Lin Yi couldn't help but feel disappointed afterward. Most of these people seemed to be forming teams solely for their own interests, merely hoping to grab a share of the spoils.
The banquet was originally a place for socializing, but Lin Yi found it dull. After casually drinking a few glasses with the crowd, Albert began to announce the upcoming mission.
The mission was similar to what Wang Zijun had described. It involved advancing forward and luring the Zombies together, ultimately covering them with firepower. However, to prevent any unforeseen circumstances, they were divided into four separate forces.
Sister Elisa eagerly wanted to team up with Lin Yi, but in the end, she was rejected by Li Qiweng, who represented Lin Yi. Instead, she chose to join Wang Zijun's Pacific Mercenary Corps.
Next came the preparations. Lin Yi was fully equipped; aside from replenishing his energy supplies, all members of the War God Squad took a collective rest.
The next day, Lin Yi's team was ready at the City Gate early on, but Wang Zijun's unit had not yet arrived. Eventually, a Mercenary came to inform Lin Yi's group that they would set off ahead of schedule, and that the Pacific Mercenary Corps would catch up with them in San Nei.
To avoid missing their opportunity for battle, Lin Yi did not dwell on it too much; he was confident that his War God Squad could handle any Zombie disturbances along the way.
The journey unfolded as Lin Yi had anticipated. Ordinary Zombies posed no threat to his armored group. When encountering slightly higher-level Zombies, he didn't even need to intervene; they could be eliminated in a short time.
Lin Yi also brought along an important tool: a substance similar to Blood Plasma that could attract Zombies' attention for a brief period. However, this Blood Plasma only drew the Zombies' notice from very close distances, so Lin Yi and his team had to continuously approach the Zombies to lure them in. The higher the level of the Zombie, the more sensitive it was to this Blood Plasma.
For ordinary people, this Blood Plasma would be a terrifying source of trouble that provoked demons. But for Lin Yi and his team, its advantage lay in attracting large numbers of Zombies without expending too much effort.
This Blood Plasma was a derivative product of Nock and Marin's research on the Zombie Virus and was fundamental to Nock and Marin's operations in Australia.
However, only Australia dared to utilize this Blood Plasma since there were no high-level Zombies present here. In other places, using it might immediately attract a horde of high-level Zombies! Thus, even though Lin Yi's team used it, they were taking considerable risks.
This time, Lin Yi's mission destination was deep within the Victoria Desert. Even though the straight-line distance exceeded a thousand kilometers, to attract the Zombies, Lin Yi's group would have to take many detours. Regardless of the challenges ahead, Lin Yi's goal was to complete the mission within three months.
On the first day, after Lin Yi's unit had slain fifty thousand ordinary Zombies, another five thousand Zombies were already closing in from a distance. However, Lin Yi's forces had suffered considerable losses and needed to resupply their ammunition. They had only managed to advance about twenty kilometers that day, with no idea how far they still had to go to reach their destination.
That night, Lin Yi and his team restructured their plan, focusing on breaking through the Zombie encirclement while minimizing engagements with them. Prolonged delays would only attract more Zombies, making it nearly impossible for them to move forward.
The next day, the War God Squad charged ahead. When they encountered Zombies blocking their path, several High-Level Combat Power Mercenaries cleared a route for them. They pressed on with great momentum, managing to shake off the Zombies by over a hundred kilometers, ultimately leaving the Zombies behind.
By the third day, Lin Yi paused briefly for the Zombies, but surprisingly, it was not the Zombies that arrived first; instead, it was a Mercenary group.
Initially thinking it was Wang Zijun from the Pacific Mercenary Corps, he was taken aback when it turned out to be Elisa's Golden Mercenary Corps. This infuriated Li Qiweng, who immediately confronted Elisa about her reasons for following them.
Lin Yi had assumed Elisa was merely passing through by chance, but when Elisa presented an official appointment letter from the Australian President, he realized she was there for serious business. After all, they were on someone else's territory, and Lin Yi's unit was nominally under the command of the local highest authority.
Although Li Qiweng was displeased, she swallowed her frustration for the greater good. However, she insisted that any discussions regarding future matters would be conducted by her as the representative of the entire War God Squad. The two Mercenary groups would not merge but would instead assist each other in diverting Zombies.
The following days were monotonous and tedious, filled with endless battles against the increasingly numerous Zombies gathering nearby. To avoid being completely surrounded by them, Lin Yi's team could only advance while taking breaks.
A month later, even though the War God Squad members displayed remarkable perseverance, they found it increasingly difficult to continue. Ultimately, they had no choice but to implement a two-shift system: half of the Mercenaries would protect the other half while they advanced at full speed.
At this point, they had only progressed five hundred kilometers, and the distance to Victoria Desert seemed even greater.
That morning, Lin Yi approached Li Qiweng with his weary body and said, "Our team is exhausted; we should consider collaborating with Elisa! Not only would it speed things up, but at least it would ensure we have some rest time."
Li Qiweng bit her lip; however, when she thought of that enchanting woman with captivating eyes, she felt a rare loss of confidence in her own appearance.
"I promise you, but if you do anything out of line, we will go our separate ways from now on!" Li Qiweng said, her beautiful eyes flickering as she shook her fist and gritted her teeth.
The mere presence of Ying Sa had already planted a seed of resentment in Li Qiweng's heart; how could she possibly accept another woman, especially one as reckless as her?
"What are you thinking? You know what kind of person I am, right?" Lin Yi gently caressed Li Qiweng's face, feeling a pang of heartache.
Li Qiweng inherently disliked betrayal, and in reality, Lin Yi had already emotionally betrayed her. However, she chose to silently resolve this betrayal, which was the greatest concession she could make.
"I may not be well-read, so don't try to fool me!" Every time Li Qiweng thought of Elisa, she felt that something was bound to go wrong.
"My card is in your hands. If I deceive you, I'll have to scavenge for food. I'm a hero in the hearts of many; I wouldn't do something like that," Lin Yi comforted her by patting her delicate shoulder. After continuous battles, Li Qiweng could no longer suppress the negative emotions within her; this time, they were about to erupt.
Li Qiweng let out a few soft sobs, and Lin Yi understood that she had tacitly accepted his alliance with Elisa.
When Lin Yi saw Elisa again, he felt that her charm had surpassed even before. However, Elisa was also aware of the tricky situation ahead. Although she led a mercenary group of five thousand people, their combat effectiveness left much to be desired.

Ultimately, finding a balance between attracting zombies to their planned area while avoiding encirclement was a difficult task to manage.
