Lin Yi was taken aback. He could understand human selfishness, but he found it hard to comprehend why Beatrice would help him. What was her true motive?
"The last rule of the Mercenary Alliance: turning a blind eye to someone in danger is a grave sin! Since we are both members of the alliance, how can we not face this together?" Beatrice grinned. In truth, she didn't know why she had suddenly rushed out to help Lin Yi.
In the past, she would have at least assessed the situation before making a decision; she would never have responded to his call as if she were one of his subordinates.
"Alright, let's make this quick!" As soon as Lin Yi finished speaking, he transformed into a streak of light and dashed toward the area with the highest concentration of Zombies.
Beatrice followed suit without hesitation. Li Qiweng called out, "Honey, wait for me!" which drew amused reactions from everyone; they hadn't expected the Frost Beauty to show such a cute side.
The Zombies were momentarily stunned. As dozens of high-level human fighters plunged into their ranks, it was as if doomsday had arrived for the Zombies, who offered no resistance whatsoever.
In just a few minutes, tens of thousands of Zombies lost all fighting capability. On average, each fighter had managed to slay nearly ten thousand Zombies in an instant. Such terrifying speed was overwhelming, even considering the vast numbers of Zombies.
However, it wasn't long before the High-Level Zombies noticed what was happening and sent ten Eight-Star level Zombies charging toward them!
While Lin Yi and his companions had indeed been swift in their slaughter, most of those they had killed were ordinary Zombies. There were hardly any Three-Star or higher Zombies among them.
Now that ten Eight-Star Combat Power Zombies were approaching, Lin Yi felt an ominous sense of foreboding!
But Lin Yi was not one to back down. He blurred and charged forward to meet them head-on!
An unusual scene unfolded: as Lin Yi dashed forward, the ten Zombies seemed to have coordinated their movements and all avoided him, showing no intention of engaging in battle!
Could it be that my reputation has spread throughout the Zombie realm? Lin Yi touched his nose, feeling both amused and bewildered. At that moment, he noticed that each of the ten Zombies had found their opponents but seemed oblivious to his presence.
The ordinary Zombie stood dumbfounded in the middle as it spotted Lin Yi, and without hesitation, it lunged forward, drool dripping onto the ground like a hungry ghost eyeing a feast.
With a swift motion, Lin Yi swung his blade in annoyance. The Zombie, lost in its fantasies of food, was cleaved in half from its forehead.
If the enemies wouldn't come to him, he would seek them out! Lin Yi had no intention of wasting energy on ordinary Zombies. In an instant, he blurred and appeared near the Eight-Star Zombie that Jian and Flower Cannon were entangled with.
Jian's actual combat power had already surpassed Four-Star, and with the aid of the War God Suit, he could unleash peak Six-Star strength. Flower Cannon, for reasons unknown, had hit the jackpot and reached Five-Star Combat Power. With the War God Suit, he barely achieved Seven-Star Level Combat Power and was on the verge of reaching Eight-Star Level. It was only through their combined efforts that they could fend off the attacks of the Eight-Star Zombie, though it was still fraught with danger.
Seeing Lin Yi suddenly appear, the Zombie attempted a feint and prepared to escape!
"Since you came here, don't think about leaving!" Lin Yi's Psychic Power had broken through to Nine-Star Level, making him a ruthless force against this ordinary Eight-Star Zombie!
Just as Lin Yi's words fell, he positioned himself directly in front of the fleeing Eight-Star Zombie.
With instinctive reflexes, the Eight-Star Zombie raised its metal club and thrust it toward Lin Yi's chest.
Lin Yi ducked swiftly, easily evading the attack. In an instant, a cold light erupted before him; before the Zombie could comprehend what was happening, its head was severed by Lin Yi's blade!
Jian and Flower Cannon nodded gratefully at Lin Yi. Although their combined strength had increased significantly, they still found it challenging to deal with an Eight-Star Combat Power Zombie.
Similar scenes unfolded elsewhere. Several leaders and Vice Captains from Lin Yi's Mercenary Squad, bolstered by the War God Suit, had reached at least Five-Star combat power but struggled against Eight-Star Level foes.
Lin Yi became the battlefield's firefighter; whenever he saw someone struggling to hold on, he would rush over with his blade. In less than a minute, four Eight-Star Combat Power Zombies had met their demise under Lin Yi's Silver Soul Battle Blade.
Beatrice's speed was also unsatisfactory as she swiftly eliminated two foes. One of her dark-faced subordinates unexpectedly unleashed astonishing combat power, successfully slaying an Eight-Star Zombie. The remaining three were divided among Li Qiweng, Roman, and Sean.
The commander of the Zombies did not anticipate that within just a few minutes, all ten Eight-Star Combat Power Zombies would be wiped out. In an instant, there were not enough personnel to send out reinforcements!
The few minutes that Lin Yi and his team fought bought enough time for the others entering the city. At this moment, even the weakest fighters had retreated inside the walls, leaving only Lin Yi's War God Squad, the Mechanical Armor Squad, and Beatrice's elite Mercenary group of a hundred outside.
"Alright, the Mechanical Armor Squad begins to retreat. War God Squad, hold the line!" Lin Yi knew that prolonging the fight would lead to significant losses for the entire team.
Everyone pushed forward with all their might, relying solely on sheer willpower; in reality, most were already at their limits.
The thunderous momentum of Lin Yi and his team temporarily subdued the restless Zombie Army. For a moment, Lin Yi's side became a vacuum zone devoid of Zombies, with none daring to approach.
With the Zombies no longer interfering, the Mechanical Armor Squad successfully retreated.

"Members below Seven-Star Combat Power begin to retreat!"
Lin Yi's commands were issued in an orderly manner. By the time he delivered the last order, only he, Li Qiweng, Sean, Roman, Beatrice, and his Black-Faced Subordinate remained on the battlefield.
"Alright, it's our turn!" Lin Yi glanced around. The Zombies that had just been intimidated by him were now stirring restlessly, ready to charge at any moment.
The crowd nodded to each other and began to move toward the City Gate.
Suddenly, Lin Yi felt a chilling sensation wash over his back. He instinctively shouted, "Hong, take Wen inside!"
As soon as he spoke, a wave of coldness surged from his soul.
"Slash—" Without hesitation, Lin Yi poured all his strength into the Single Crystal Combat Blade. The effort contorted his once handsome features into a grimace, and his hair stood on end as if caught in an unseen wind.
The blood-red Blade Qi appeared once more, almost simultaneously with Lin Yi's shout. It erupted from Lin Yi's Silver Soul Battle Blade, directly confronting the destructive force approaching from behind him.
Instead of the expected explosive sound, there was a hissing noise, like water splashing onto hot coals.
In mid-air, a Blade Qi nearly half a meter long and ten centimeters wide froze in place. The only thing blocking it was an arm shrouded in dark energy, belonging to a remarkably young-looking Zombie.
"Nine-Star Zombie!" At that moment, Lin Yi understood; the Nine-Star Combat Power Zombie had finally made its move against him, just when he thought he saw a glimmer of hope.
The power of the Blade Qi was formidable enough to reach the Nine-Star Combat Power level, yet it was once again halted. And it was merely a Zombie that blocked it with just one hand.
This was no ordinary Nine-Star Zombie; it had undoubtedly reached the pinnacle of Nine-Star Level combat power! Lin Yi gritted his teeth. That last strike had consumed nearly half of his strength, yet this Zombie effortlessly countered it, leaving Lin Yi struggling to accept the reality.
"Break!" The Nine-Star Level Zombie suddenly shouted. In the next moment, an eerie scene unfolded. Thick black mist erupted from the Zombie's body and wrapped around Lin Yi's Blade Qi.
Under the corrosive influence of the black mist, the Blade Qi rapidly dissolved as if it were ice thrown into a furnace. In the blink of an eye, Lin Yi's hard-earned Blade Qi was completely consumed.
Before Lin Yi could make a move, the Nine-Star Zombie's form blurred, and in the next moment, it appeared right in front of Lin Yi!
Without hesitation, the Nine-Star Zombie extended its emaciated claws, seemingly moving slowly but actually striking with incredible speed as it pierced toward Lin Yi's forehead.
"Shh—" At the moment the Zombie's claw broke through Lin Yi's brow, the Nine-Star Zombie raised an eyebrow and swiftly turned to stab again at its back.
"Clang—" A distant sound of metal clashing echoed, resonating like an endless metallic friction that pierced into everyone's ears.
"I didn't expect your speed to reach such a level, but the gap in strength is a problem you can never avoid!"
The Nine-Star Zombie coldly remarked as it looked at the real Lin Yi before it. It had just made a careless mistake by not seeing through Lin Yi's illusion, nearly allowing him to succeed in a sneak attack from behind!
The dignity of a strong warrior cannot be provoked, and it was clear that the Nine-Star Zombie felt Lin Yi was challenging its pride.
"Die—" The seemingly casual voice from the Nine-Star Zombie sent chills down spines.
Lin Yi thought to himself that this was bad; confronting the Nine-Star Zombie head-on was truly courting death. In that instant, he gripped the hilt of his sword tightly and transformed into a spinning top, charging toward the Nine-Star Zombie!
Striking first would allow him to seize the initiative!
