The Man-Eating Tree seemed to sense the impending danger, its branches twitching rapidly as it moved its massive form. The ground trembled slightly beneath the tree's movements. Lin Yi noticed that the people around him had mostly retreated, and he gathered all his strength to unleash a solid Blade Qi once more.
In the darkness, a pale white blade of light swiftly struck the trunk of the Man-Eating Tree. With a muffled thud, the towering tree swayed several times, nearly toppling over.
However, before Lin Yi could fully express his surprise, it froze on his face. The Man-Eating Tree quickly regained its balance and continued charging toward the main group, though a deep gash marred its trunk, oozing blood profusely.
Despite appearing to surpass the Nine Star Level in strength, the Man-Eating Tree's running speed was no different from that of an ordinary person, making it an easy target for artillery strikes!
At that moment, a piercing shriek echoed through the air as a missile with a long, fiery tail streaked in from several kilometers away.
It was the Spear of God missile, known for its immense power—something Lin Yi had witnessed before!
In the next instant, Lin Yi pulled Li Qiweng and retreated several steps in quick succession.
"Boom!" A deafening explosion erupted, sending shockwaves that overturned the surrounding soil and grass.
Under the violent energy, nearby makeshift houses collapsed in an instant, and a mushroom cloud rose high into the sky, engulfing the treetops of the Man-Eating Tree!
Lin Yi squinted his eyes and waited for the chaotic energy to stabilize slightly before extending his Psychic Power outward.
Suddenly, a long wail pierced through the mushroom cloud left by the explosion. Lin Yi felt an agonizing tearing force that seemed to reach into his very soul.
The Man-Eating Tree was still alive! Lin Yi's mind was thrown into chaos; his Psychic Power was obstructed, and it felt as if his entire soul was about to break free from its shell—an unbearable sensation! At that moment, Lin Yi found himself too exhausted to fight back and could only let Black pull him backward.
As the mushroom cloud dissipated, the form of the Man-Eating Tree became visible again. Its roots were significantly diminished, and its trunk was charred black. Clearly, the Spear of God had inflicted considerable damage on it; however, it had not been enough to destroy it outright!
Li Qiweng continued to pull Lin Yi back for several hundred meters. Not far away, the Man-Eating Tree still loomed like an ancient giant, terrifying in its presence.
"Yi. Use the Laser Cannon to take it down!" Li Qiweng said with a frown; this Man-Eating Tree felt far too dangerous to her.
"Yes, I think so too, but the Laser Cannon consumes too much energy. I thought the Spear of God was powerful enough," Lin Yi said, his face pale. The drain on his strength only affected his stamina. However, this time, the howling sound of the Man-Eating Tree clashed directly with his Psychic Power, causing Lin Yi to suffer a backlash from this invisible force.
"If we don't take immediate action to eliminate the threat of this tree, we might suffer significant losses!" Li Qiweng exclaimed as he watched the Man-Eating Tree thrashing its roots wildly. The wooden debris and stones on the ground were sent flying in all directions by its strikes.
If it weren't for the agility of these Mercenaries and soldiers, they would have already suffered heavy casualties. Yet, they could only evade and had no means to deal with the Man-Eating Tree. While the power of the Laser Beam was formidable, the Man-Eating Tree managed to dodge most of the lasers.
Ordinary explosions from guns and cannons posed no threat to it, and even during Lin Yi's peak, he would have found it difficult to approach such a colossal creature.
"Ibn, you command the Laser Cannon to lock onto this Man-Eating Tree and attack with full force!" Although the Laser Cannon had already expended considerable energy during the last Oasis War, Lin Yi had no other options now but to waste some more.
"Five seconds countdown!" Ibn responded promptly, immediately starting the countdown.
"Continue to retreat!" Seeing that they had reached the edge of town, Lin Yi still felt uneasy and continued to back away.

"Boom—" Two rapidly traveling Laser Beams crossed paths and rushed toward the Man-Eating Tree. It seemed that the tree had sensed danger and began to move its massive body with incredible speed.
However, Lin Yi clearly saw the panic displayed by the Man-Eating Tree; after all, the two beams were approaching from either side. Regardless of whether it moved left or right, it could not escape being struck by one of the Laser Beams! Even in retreat, the beams followed closely behind, making escape nearly impossible!
At that moment, the Man-Eating Tree suddenly halted its frantic movements and concentrated all its roots and remaining vines in front of its body, bracing itself against a beam from the Laser Cannon!
There was a violent surge of energy as one Laser Beam shot past while another collided squarely with the Man-Eating Tree.
The tree could not withstand this force and staggered back several steps. The roots and vines that had gathered around its body turned into charred remnants; as a gentle breeze blew through, those remnants disintegrated into dust scattered across the vast desert.
"Such quick reflexes!" Lin Yi marveled inwardly. Unless he had prior knowledge, there was no way he could have dodged the laser attack.
The Man-Eating Tree, however, reacted only after the Laser Cannon fired, managing to block the Laser Beam with sheer force! Such power was something even a Nine-Star Master like Lin Yi could not achieve. Could this Man-Eating Tree truly be a supreme existence at the Ten-Star Level?
Lin Yi couldn't imagine that the Ten-Star Level might indeed be a god-like existence.
"Whoosh—" Just as Lin Yi hesitated, two massive Laser Beams shot forth. This time, Lin Yi didn't see clearly, but he knew that the Man-Eating Tree had not evaded them, or perhaps it no longer had enough roots and vines to block the oncoming Laser Cannon.
"Boom! Boom!" Lin Yi clearly saw a Laser Beam pierce through the trunk of the Man-Eating Tree, leaving a gaping hole the size of a bowl.
The Man-Eating Tree was as thick as an adult's embrace; while this hole was large, it still did not claim the tree's life. The area around the hole was charred, but soon blood-red sap began to ooze out continuously.
The anthropomorphized Man-Eating Tree used its remaining roots to cover the wound, letting out a more mournful cry. With trembling steps, it continued forward, determined to eliminate the threats before it! Moreover, these people could provide it with enough energy; by devouring them, it could become even stronger!
However, no one would give it that chance. This was war; it was either you die or I live!
Ibn was resolute. After two bursts from the Laser Cannons, new Laser Beams arrived in an instant, completely disregarding the fact that the cannon barrels were beginning to strain under continuous fire.
The tragic Man-Eating Tree possessed vitality surpassing the Nine-Star Level but lacked speed at that level. Watching the rapidly enlarging Laser Beams, it could only let out a long howl in an attempt to bolster its strength.
"Sizzle!"
As expected, those two Laser Beams pierced through the trunk of the Man-Eating Tree. After this penetration, nearly two-thirds of its trunk had turned hollow; its entire body was on the verge of collapse.
"Artillery coverage!" Lin Yi knew that such rapid firing would severely harm the Laser Cannons and immediately ordered an artillery bombardment!
The prepared Witerson II stood at the artillery position and commanded the artillery to fire. The booming sounds echoed like continuous thunder in everyone's ears.
The Man-Eating Tree sensed the trajectory of the shells, but it had no way to increase its speed and escape the barrage.

Everyone could see that slender figure trembling amidst the flames, seemingly trying to break free from the violent blasts. However, the continuous shockwaves acted like an unyielding cage, trapping this incredible giant tree until its body gradually stopped shaking, and its roars slowly faded away.

"Is it dead?" A ethereal voice rang out from a distance far away from Lin Yi's army, though no one could see where the voice's owner was.
"It’s dead. If it’s not dead, then we might be!" Another voice followed, equally elusive and hard to trace.
"It must be an existence beyond Nine Star Level. Even if the three of us combined our strength, we would likely struggle to deal with it." A soft female voice chimed in, carrying a hint of allure.
"I didn't expect their evolution to be so rapid. Even with all our means, we can't cultivate an absolute power strong enough to overpower them!" The previous voice spoke with a sense of lament.
After that, no one continued speaking, as if that place had never known the presence of anyone at all.
