The thick Blade Qi appeared before Lin Yi at a speed faster than ever before. Before anyone could blink, the milky white Blade Qi spun and, with a silent yet thunderous momentum, struck the trunk of the Man-Eating Tree, which was thick enough to be embraced by a person.
"Roar—" A deep, muffled cry broke through the air, and the vines that had been coiling around the Man-Eating Tree suddenly seemed to be invigorated, waving wildly as if they had been given a shot of adrenaline.
"Bang! Bang!"
The sound of crashing echoed as the Blade Qi swept toward the flailing vines with an unstoppable force. One after another, the vines burst apart without any means of defense!
The once formidable green vines were instantly reduced to scattered green fragments, though among these remnants lingered a foul, nauseating odor.
All of this transpired in the blink of an eye. As Lin Yi's Blade Qi obliterated the vines blocking the Man-Eating Tree, it surged forward with invincible strength and struck the trunk.
A buzzing sound spread across several kilometers, resembling a swarm of bees collectively flapping their wings.
At that moment, the Man-Eating Tree trembled violently. Leaves began to fall from its once lush branches, and even the surrounding vines exploded in an instant!
Lin Yi squinted; he saw his Blade Qi rapidly dissipating, yet the scene he had imagined of the Man-Eating Tree being cleaved in two did not occur!
A few seconds later, only sparse branches and leaves remained on the Man-Eating Tree. Most of the vines had been shaken off. However, what astonished Lin Yi was that there were only faint white marks on the trunk; one could barely discern where his blade had struck unless looked at closely!
"This is impossible!" Lin Yi exclaimed in disbelief. He knew that his previous strike had concentrated all his power; even a heavy armored vehicle would have been split in half by it. Yet this tree had merely lost some leaves and vines!
"Look! It's bleeding!" Li Qiweng shouted, pointing at the trunk of the Man-Eating Tree not far away. This drew everyone's attention.
Lin Yi focused on the trunk of the Man-Eating Tree and indeed saw red sap oozing from the gash he had just made, resembling blood seeping out.
"Woo woo woo—" At that moment, a mournful sound suddenly emanated from the Man-Eating Tree. It sounded like an elderly man crying in a corner, sending chills down their spines!
"Sir, this Man-Eating Tree is no ordinary tree!" The voice of Black conveyed a sense of anthropomorphized seriousness. It possessed scanning capabilities and could discern details about the internal condition of the Man-Eating Tree more clearly than Lin Yi.
"What did you find?" Lin Yi gestured for everyone to step back a few paces. Black would not speak without reason; this Man-Eating Tree must have something unusual about it.
"I just scanned it and found that its trunk may contain the Zombie Virus! Moreover, there are stark white bones among its roots, most of which are human skeletons!"
As soon as Black's words fell, Lin Yi felt a chill rush from behind straight to his brain! Could it be that the Zombie Virus caused this tree to mutate?
" Witerson II, prepare the Laser Cannon!" Lin Yi couldn't help but take a few steps back; he felt as if he might be stepping on the bones of the dead!
"What’s wrong?" Li Qiweng and the others asked in unison. They hadn’t heard Black’s analysis yet; after all, their War God Suits hadn’t undergone the same hardware and software modifications as Lin Yi's.
As he continued to retreat, Lin Yi said, "This tree can withstand my full-strength attack. It might have something to do with the Zombie Virus inside it!"
Hearing Lin Yi's explanation, everyone felt incredulous. They could understand if animals were infected with the Zombie Virus, but a tree being infected was simply unfathomable!
Suddenly, the ground began to tremble violently, as if some enormous creature was about to break through the earth!
"Whoa—" Lin Yi instantly unleashed his Psychic Power. In just a moment, he suddenly felt a tremor in his mind!
Beneath the ground, hundreds of long, strip-like entities were exerting force, seemingly about to break free from the earth's constraints and unleash their destructive power.
"This is bad; the Man-Eating Tree is moving!" Lin Yi quickly realized that this phenomenon was caused by the very tree before him.
At this moment, more than half of its roots had been pulled out from underground. The entire trunk began to move as well!
"What, what, what is this guy doing?!" Lin Yi was dumbfounded; even he, who was used to various bizarre situations, was astonished by what he saw.
The Man-Eating Tree, now mostly just a trunk, was wildly thrashing about, and roots that had been buried deep underground began to emerge from the surface!

Suddenly, a flash of insight struck Lin Yi, and he shouted, "I understand now why this Man-Eating Tree has grown so large!
It is the target of the Oasis Tribe's Ritual, and they have been using living people as sacrifices to feed this Man-Eating Tree! In the end, those infected with the virus were also offered as sacrifices, leading to the tree's Corpseification, while others unknowingly underwent Corpseification as well!"

Yet this seemingly simple Ritual was ultimately dooming their own kin. With the outbreak of the Zombie Virus, all members of the tribe underwent Corpseification, and the Man-Eating Tree that "consumed" those infected with the Zombie Virus also became Corpseified, growing exceptionally powerful.
"Sir, we need to retreat quickly; this Man-Eating Tree may not be easily subdued!" Black could only make a rough judgment about its Nine-Star Combat Power, and it was clear that this Man-Eating Tree was beyond its calculated range!

"Damn it! It's really becoming sentient!" Lin Yi shouted instinctively. However, his hands were not idle; he raised his Silver Soul Battle Blade once more and swung it toward the Man-Eating Tree, which was nearly uprooting itself from the ground!
"Swish—" Without the obstruction of vines, Lin Yi's Blade Qi struck directly at the roots of the Man-Eating Tree, severing dozens of thinner roots in one blow.
The wailing from the Man-Eating Tree grew even more sorrowful, but it clearly accelerated its efforts to pull out its roots, its body twitching rhythmically with increased intensity.
" Witerson II, how much longer until we can prepare our firepower?" Lin Yi urged anxiously. If this Man-Eating Tree truly surpassed Nine Star Level, it would pose an immense danger.

“Shoot its roots; those are its legs!” Lin Yi also drew his laser pistol and aimed at the Man-Eating Tree. He had already unleashed dozens of Blade Qi strikes and was starting to feel overwhelmed.
The power of the Laser Gun was impressive, but the responding Man-Eating Tree managed to evade most of the Laser Beam shots even in extreme danger!
“Roar—” The Man-Eating Tree finally uprooted itself completely, now supported by three roots as thick as adult arms, while the other roots transformed into weapons, swinging wildly like a tree-shaped Giant Squid!
“Commander Lin, the artillery is ready and can fire at any moment!” At that moment, Lin Yi heard Ibn’s voice in his ear.
Lin Yi was somewhat surprised but still gave the order: “Cover fire in ten seconds!”
