Lin Yi had a natural instinct to kill any traitor he encountered, showing no mercy whatsoever. However, he couldn't understand why these traitors chose to betray him—was it merely for the elusive promise of immortality, or for the destructive power that came with it? 0

"I wonder what the Commander thinks about these traitors?" Lin Yi asked a seemingly ordinary question, yet one that could not truly be answered. The human heart was inscrutable; who could know what anyone was really thinking? 0

In truth, Lin Yi sought more information. He knew that while the world regarded him as a hero, to those so-called upper echelons, he was merely a lackey. The real secrets, or the true darkness, were things Lin Yi would find difficult to uncover. 0

The Commander looked at Lin Yi, remaining silent as if trying to see through his very soul. Yet Lin Yi was no stranger to such situations; he maintained a calm smile as he faced the Commander. 0

"Captain Lin, your question is quite strange. Do we have any other choice regarding traitors? Naturally, we must execute them!" The Commander's aura surged, exuding the presence of someone in power. 0

Lin Yi smiled lightly. He had long since shed the feelings of an ordinary person when faced with such pressure and did not let it affect him. 0

"I meant to ask why they choose to betray us. What benefits has Zombie offered them?" Lin Yi released his Consciousness to project his Psychic Power, not to kill but to influence the Commander's thoughts. This was something he had learned from Kofi about how Psychic Power could affect people's minds. 0

At that moment, a booming laugh echoed like thunder as a burly Bald Man approached, accompanied by several elderly men with gray hair. They were all dressed in suits, making Lin Yi appear somewhat out of place among them. 0

Upon seeing the newcomers, the Commander walked straight over and shook hands with the leading Bald Man. "Welcome, Alliance Chairman, to our first round of the Alliance Special Conference." 0

Alliance Chairman? Special Conference? A flurry of questions raced through Lin Yi's mind. He had been so focused on issues concerning Zombie that he hadn't paid much attention to these alliances. 0

"I presume this is Captain Lin? I've heard quite a bit about you!" The burly Bald Man stepped forward with a broad smile. 0

Lin Yi felt an underlying danger in his words; who would casually try to get close to him without reason? 0

Noticing the confusion on Lin Yi's face, the Bald Man continued, "I am Commander of the Central African Defense Zone and also the new Alliance Chairman for Africa, Deman!" 0

Deman? Lin Yi's mind raced as he recalled this name; it was someone Witerson II had mentioned several times—he was the president before Kenya fell! 0

"President Deman?" Lin Yi asked tentatively, genuinely surprised to meet President Deman. However, he quickly felt a sense of foreboding; he remembered that Froeman, who had previously helped him, had been declared a traitor by this very president! 0

"Captain Lin has a good memory; I assume Witerson II told you all about it!" Deman chuckled and gently patted Lin Yi on the shoulder. 0

At that moment, Lin Yi realized that this Mr. President possessed considerable combat strength—at least on par with Five-Star level. 0

"No, it's General Froeman!" Lin Yi refrained from directly asking but instead mentioned Froeman's name casually. At this point, there was no way for Deman not to inquire about Froeman's situation. 0

"Captain Lin, let's not refer to that traitor as a general; he is a disgrace to humanity!" Deman's emotions flared up suddenly. It was clear that he harbored a deep disdain for Froeman. 0

At that moment, the Commander from Cairo stepped forward and said, "I suppose Captain Lin is not aware that the General Froeman you mentioned has long allied himself with the Zombies. For this reason, Chairman Deman has sent people multiple times to eliminate him!" 0

"And what was the result?" Lin Yi felt something was off but couldn't quite put his finger on it. He wished Wu Hao were present; at least he could discern which statements were true and which were false. 0

"Froeman has been entrenched in the military for a long time, with many followers. He understands the operational habits of the troops and has escaped capture multiple times!" Deman's gaze dimmed slightly, seemingly ashamed of the inability to bring Froeman to justice. 0

"Alright, alright, we are here to discuss significant matters concerning our African Union; let’s not dwell on such disheartening topics." The Commander waved his hand, signaling everyone to take their seats. 0

"Nefel, this is your territory; please take the floor," Deman addressed the Commander. Although he was the Chairman of the African Union, he still wanted to give Nefel some respect. 0

"Very well, Chairman. I will comply," Nefel replied and immediately activated a player that displayed a three-dimensional map projection of the African continent's terrain. 0

The other four elders sat silently at Deman's side, their eyes fixed on the three-dimensional map. They did not know Lin Yi and seemed uninterested in getting acquainted. Lin Yi had no desire to provoke them; after all, it was better to avoid unnecessary trouble. 0

Nefel moved his hand over the three-dimensional projection and outlined five large areas, one of which included his Nile Defense Zone. 0

"Currently, there are four major Defense Zones across the African continent: the Cape of Good Hope Defense Zone in the south, the Central Africa Defense Zone in the center, the Gulf of Guinea Defense Zone in the west, and the Addis Ababa Defense Zone in the east, along with the Nile Defense Zone! Of course, resistance zones are distributed throughout every corner of the African continent; no one is willing to submit to the threat of Zombies!" 0

As Lin Yi observed, Nefel's finger traced over the map, revealing numerous smaller red-marked areas beyond those five major zones—likely representing various unorganized resistance groups. Among these five major zones, the Central Africa Defense Zone was the largest, centered around Lake Victoria and radiating out to six surrounding countries. However, aside from Uganda, most of these countries were only partially under human control; much of their territory had already been occupied by Zombies. 0

"The purpose of our meeting today is to decide how to launch a united operation to expand the territories of several Defense Zones and ultimately eliminate all Zombies in Africa!" 0

Nefel waved his hand again, enlarging the three-dimensional map further and marking several attack routes with arrows. 0

"But do we have the strength to accomplish this?" Lin Yi thought about the terrifying nature of Zombies and felt a chill run down his spine. Moreover, there were traitors among humans; resolving this issue would not be easy. 0

"If Captain Lin Yi's words were reported by the media, I can't imagine how many hearts would be broken," Deman tapped rhythmically on the table. Although he was speaking to Lin Yi, he hardly looked at him. 0

"I don't consider myself a hero; victory and defeat are common occurrences!" Lin Yi knew that attending this meeting would not yield anything good and thus disregarded any notions of etiquette or reputation. 0

"No, you are a hero; everyone needs heroes!" This time Deman finally looked at Lin Yi, an aura emanating from him subtly. 0

This aura was still quite hidden; Lin Yi could not accurately gauge Deman's strength. However, that did not mean Deman was stronger than Lin Yi. After all, once one's power reached Star Level, it could be concealed effectively enough that most people would struggle to estimate it accurately. 0

“Mr. Chairman, do you think we need to discuss the areas each of us is responsible for regarding the Attack? The other representatives can also share the status of their Defense Zones, so we can make a comprehensive assessment,” Nefel said, looking at the other elders. Suddenly, a screen flashed before them, displaying a map of Africa. 0

The conference room fell into silence as everyone focused intently on the map, continuously gathering data. Lin Yi felt like an outsider, as if he had nothing to do with the proceedings. 0

After about five minutes, it seemed that everyone had finished reviewing the map and turned their attention to the meeting host, Nefel. 0

“Well, Mr. Lin Yi, I invited you here for two reasons. First, to thank you for helping resolve the Nile crisis. Second, I would like to invite you to participate in our African Union's upcoming operation,” Nefel said, his expression somewhat awkward but quickly masked. 0

“And what else?” Lin Yi felt a surge of annoyance; did they really assume he would help without question? 0

“This meeting was originally meant for Zidli to attend. For this coalition operation, we could only allocate him as our Nine-Star Combat Power participant from the Nile Defense Zone. The other Nine-Star Combat Power members will remain at Base Camp since dealing with Nine-Star Zombies is not something ordinary forces can handle! However, he unexpectedly lost his life. After urgent discussions among us, we decided to select you to lead this Nile Coalition,” Nefel explained with some reluctance. This suggestion hadn’t originated from him, yet he found himself explaining it to Lin Yi. 0

Lin Yi shifted slightly in his seat and replied, “But I’m not a Nine-Star Level!” 0

“Mr. Lin Yi, as the leader of a top Mercenary group, we may know more about your capabilities than your teammates do. Captain Lin may not be Nine-Star Combat Power, but he has proven capable of slaying typical Nine-Star Zombies! Zidli was indeed a master of Nine-Star Combat Power but still fell victim to a Nine-Star Zombie.” 0

The alliance is determined to conduct a joint operation in the Defense Zone this time; naturally, we will not shortchange you in terms of rewards. We will provide you with the best weapons and equipment!” 0

Deman stood up, leaning on the table as he spoke deliberately, “We can even provide you with our latest Mechanical Armor, equipping you with gear that no Mercenary without a War God Suit has ever had!” 0
