The battlefield was originally in a delicate stalemate, but when Lin Yi and his companions arrived, that state was quickly shattered.
As the power at the High-Level Combat Power tier began to tilt, the disadvantaged side only found themselves in an increasingly worse position. With Lin Yi working in tandem with a young member of the City Defense Force, they swiftly took down a Zombie after just a few exchanges, breaking the balance on the battlefield.
Wang Zijun's two Vice Captains, equipped with War God Suits, were at the peak of Eight-Star Level. After Lin Yi eliminated an Eight-Star Level Zombie, they each dispatched one as well. In an instant, only two Eight-Star Combat Power Zombies remained on the field, facing four times their combat strength in human experts!
In a shorter time frame, these last two Zombies were unwillingly reduced to mere chunks of flesh under the relentless assault of absolute power.
Now, the highest combat power among the Zombies consisted of only two Nine-Star Level experts, who were entangled by the humans' High-Level Combat Power. The Zombies' plan had initially been flawless; with the cooperation of a petrified human traitor, they aimed to breach the entire Addis Ababa Defense Zone through a coordinated internal and external attack! However, they never anticipated that their operation would be uncovered and that they would suffer the loss of a hard-won human High-Level Combat Power.
Suddenly, Lin Yi felt a chilling aura rise from atop the city wall. He squinted his eyes and looked toward the glaring figure.
It was him—the only Lieutenant General in all of Addis Ababa! He was actually at Nine-Star Level! Lin Yi was taken aback; he didn't know if this counted as Kofi's backup plan, but he realized that this time the Zombies had failed—and failed miserably.
Sure enough, when those two Zombies noticed that there was an additional Nine-Star Level expert among the Human Camp, they immediately split into two directions to prepare for escape.
"Please take care of them!" The Lieutenant General shouted to the two Nine-Star Masters in mid-air before vanishing from sight. Lin Yi focused his Psychic Power to track him down and realized he could only catch a glimpse of his figure because the Lieutenant General had not concealed his presence.
In an instant, he reached an altitude two kilometers away, where an astonishing surge of energy erupted. The Lieutenant General collided fiercely with a Zombie mid-air, creating massive energy waves that even affected Lin Yi's Psychic Power detection!
The sheer force of this energy wave was immense!
Soon after, two figures hovered in mid-air, staring at each other as if engaged in some silent communication. However, on the other side of the battlefield, it was far less cordial; two High-Level Combatants from the Human Camp began to mercilessly slaughter the isolated Nine-Star Level Zombie.
The booming sounds echoed across the area as humanity's peak combat power was displayed without reservation before everyone—a form of psychological comfort for all present.
Although the lone Zombie possessed incredible strength, it quickly found itself overwhelmed against two opponents of equal caliber. While evolving to Nine-Star Combat Power granted Zombies extraordinary abilities, these two human Nine-Star Combat Power fighters were no ordinary foes.
Unfortunately for Lin Yi, his reaction speed couldn't keep up with the combat pace at Nine-Star Level; he could only sense waves of energy surging wildly in mid-air without being able to discern specific movements.
Each time a Zombie was struck down without any chance to retaliate, Lin Yi gleaned insights into their struggle through its pitiful state. Although he couldn't see clearly what was happening with the Zombie, he could feel its aura rapidly weakening.
One advantage Zombies had over humans was their ability to instantly replenish lost energy on the battlefield. However, now that two Nine-Star Combat Power human experts were relentlessly attacking it, this particular Zombie had no time to recover!
With a resounding crash—after being struck by both experts for the third time—the Zombie's leg was torn apart. While such an injury posed no threat to its life, it meant losing one of its weapons for attack. After all, every part of a Zombie could be transformed into a weapon for offense. Now it had been left with one leg brutally ripped away!
The two humans with Nine-Star Combat Power naturally would not give the Zombie any chance to react. They transformed their palms into blades and charged towards the Zombie.
Although the experts with Nine-Star Combat Power were incredibly fast, Lin Yi clearly saw one of them instantly turn his palm into a metallic color, glinting with a cold light.
Could this be the ability that humans possess after reaching the Nine Star Level? This was the first time Lin Yi had witnessed a human with Nine-Star Combat Power using such an ability.
With his keen eyesight, Lin Yi noticed the terror on the face of the injured Nine-Star Zombie and prepared to turn and flee. However, he was too late; the hand blade seemed to break through the limits of space and struck directly at the back of the fleeing Zombie!
It appeared that this metallic-glimmering hand blade was more than it seemed, as it seemed to have detached from its wielder to strike at the Zombie!
Seeing that escape was impossible, the Zombie suddenly emanated waves of black mist that engulfed the hand blade completely!
"Be careful! That black mist has strong corrosive properties!" shouted another human Nine-Star Master from above, clearly aware of the effects of the black mist.
However, the appearance of this black mist was too sudden. The Nine-Star Master wielding the hand blade could not retract it in time.
Suddenly, the Zombie wrapped in black mist let out a piercing scream, and then the black mist shot downward like a meteor! The metallic hand blade, now exposed, appeared before everyone, still entwined with strands of black mist. However, there was a noticeable dark liquid on the blade; it had still managed to inflict damage on the Zombie!
As it fell, the Zombie split in two mid-air. The black mist vanished along with it. At that moment, Lin Yi understood that even in its dying moments, the Zombie's last-ditch effort had failed to stop the hand blade's strike, resulting in its body being cleaved in half.
The two experts with Nine-Star Combat Power swiftly moved to collect the fallen Zombie's corpse. For ordinary people, such a High-Level Combat Power Zombie still posed a certain threat due to its lingering Zombie Virus.
In an instant, their direction changed as they shot towards where the Lieutenant General had been spotted. With three powerful human experts dealing with a Nine-Star Level foe, victory was already assured!
The morale among everyone surged higher as they threw themselves into battle. Without High-Level Combat Power support, the Zombie was directly overwhelmed by Mercenaries and the City Defense Force. Although it fought fiercely, total annihilation was merely a matter of time.
After Lin Yi swiftly eliminated Zombies above Five-Star level, he refrained from further action. The remaining ordinary Zombies were left for the less powerful Mercenaries to deal with. Meanwhile, the City Defense Force no longer just defended at the Quarantine Wall; they drove hundreds of armored vehicles straight into ordinary Zombies.
In an instant, Zombies became helpless lambs awaiting slaughter.
"Roar! Roar! Roar!" Knowing their doom was imminent, these low-level Zombies howled in despair.
Then these Zombies acted like a suicide squad; hundreds surrounded an armored vehicle, desperately trying to sever its tracks and began attacking frantically. Remarkably, they managed to overturn several armored vehicles!
Armored vehicles were crucial strategic resources and could not be easily destroyed by Zombies. Immediately, several High-Level Combat Power humans from either Mercenaries or City Defense Force began slaying those ordinary Zombies attacking together around the armored vehicles. In no time, what little success the Zombies had achieved was met with overwhelming slaughter in front of absolute power.
At that moment, the three highest-ranking Nine-Star Masters returned. The results of the battle were evident on their faces; they had undoubtedly emerged victorious!
Experts of Nine-Star Combat Power typically do not engage in the slaughter of low-level Zombies. Upon their return, they merely exchanged greetings with a few officers and Lin Yi before departing.
Although the reason for their departure was unclear, Lin Yi suspected it was related to Kofi's death. As a person of significant influence worldwide, Kofi's demise was no longer just a personal matter. Lin Yi was also curious about who would take command of the entire Defense Zone following Kofi's passing.
The tide of battle had completely turned in favor of humanity. After giving a few instructions, Lin Yi left with Li Qiweng, while Wang Zijun and others also issued a few commands before exiting the Southern Defense Zone.

The news of Kofi's death was tightly controlled, as the Zombies in the Southern Defense Zone had not yet been eradicated. However, they fought fiercely and engaged in a brutal battle against the City Defense Force and supporting Mercenaries throughout the night, inflicting considerable losses on humanity and severely depleting weaponry and equipment. Nevertheless, the outcome was encouraging; all three hundred thousand attacking Zombies were eliminated! For a moment, the populace seemed to see hope, and their confidence surged.
Subsequently, Lin Yi was invited by Jimmy to join discussions at the command center regarding matters following Kofi's death. In addition to helping stabilize public sentiment, he would also participate in formulating new offensive strategies.
On the third day after Kofi's death, a man named Darth, a Lieutenant General, was officially appointed as the new Commander by the command center committee. Shortly thereafter, Darth announced the news of Kofi's passing. Upon hearing this news, the nation was shaken; cries echoed throughout the entire Addis Ababa Defense Zone, turning it into a city of mourning.
Leaders from various countries sent their condolences, and flags were lowered at half-mast at the Global Security Conference. Mainstream media outlets published articles celebrating Kofi's life and praised him highly, referring to him as humanity's last spiritual leader.
