With a sharp sound reminiscent of a Dragon's Roar echoing in the air, Silver Soul surged forth from Lin Yi's back like a child encountering their favorite toy after a long absence.
The Silver Soul glinted ominously with murderous intent as it unsheathed; at that moment, the invisible pressure seemed to lighten slightly.
Lin Yi reached out and grasped the hilt of Silver Soul firmly. In an instant, he positioned the blade horizontally before him.
Clang! The sound of metal clashing rang loudly in Lin Yi's ears. He first felt a buzzing in his ears before realizing that an immense force vibrated through the blade into his arm and then surged throughout his body.
The intensity of this tremor made Lin Yi feel as if a powerful current coursed through him; he even sensed an alarming loss of control over his own body.
At that moment, Lin Yi finally caught sight of what had attacked him—a silver steel rod as thick as an infant's arm—gripped by a hand covered in wrinkles and protruding bones. The hand seemed devoid of flesh except for thin skin stretched tightly over it.
"Zhao Pei?" Lin Yi instinctively called out but received no response. Yet at that moment, he was struggling; one hand could no longer withstand the immense power transmitted from Silver Soul.
"Drink!" Lin Yi frowned, stamping his left foot hard against the ground, and immediately raised his left hand to block the blade. Under the immense impact, the blade of Silver Soul bent at a one hundred twenty-degree angle.
Worried that Silver Soul might break from the force of the blow, Lin Yi exerted all his strength to push the steel rod striking the blade away.
The reaction force from this push caused Lin Yi to stagger back several steps. If it weren't for an armored vehicle blocking his retreat, he didn't know how far he would have been pushed back.
"Fall back quickly!" In just a moment of confrontation, Lin Yi assessed that this "person" was likely stronger than Seven-Star Level. Although Lin Yi was confident in his own abilities, he had no assurance against someone or something with combat power exceeding his Star Level. Lin Yi's muscles tensed instantly as he realized that at some point, the Zombie had vanished from sight. But now, feeling the wind at his back, he understood that an ambush was imminent!
"Despicable!" Lin Yi couldn't help but curse under his breath. However, he did not pause for even a moment; instead, he pushed off the ground with both feet and slid to the right. Just as Lin Yi moved less than a meter to the side, a silver rod whistled through the air with a piercing sonic boom aimed directly at him.
Lin Yi's eyelids twitched as he inhaled sharply and instinctively contracted his abdomen. The silver rod barely grazed his skin. Yet this seemingly casual strike managed to tear through Lin Yi's specialized Combat Suit. Had it struck his body directly, even Lin Yi would have been pierced through by its force!
"When it comes to being despicable, what creature can compare to humanity?" Just as Lin Yi narrowly avoided this lethal blow, the Zombie suddenly spoke. Its voice did not match its aged appearance; instead, it sounded like that of a middle-aged man—steady and capable.
"Hmph! Don't forget you were once human too!" Lin Yi believed he could not lose momentum in this exchange and raised his right hand to slash at the Zombie's arm!
The Super Zombie was no ordinary foe; just as Lin Yi lifted his blade, it bent its elbow and swiftly rotated its wrist to meet Lin Yi's descending strike with its steel rod.
"Clang clang—" The sound of metal scraping echoed as the Super Zombie ducked low and maneuvered its body beneath Lin Yi's blade.
In an instant, without hesitation, the Zombie twisted its waist awkwardly and swung its left hand toward Lin Yi's abdomen.
Everything happened too quickly; at that moment, Lin Yi's weapon had already been deflected by the Super Zombie. The Zombie stood upright while its upper body lay back in an unusual position. Lin Yi never expected that it would use this momentum to throw a punch at him just as his blade was knocked aside—he couldn't even threaten it in return.
In a flash of lightning and thunder, there was no time for Lin Yi to retreat. In desperation, his abdominal muscles shifted wildly before finally gathering at their center.
With a sharp "bang," just as Lin Yi concentrated power in his abdomen, the Super Zombie's fist came crashing down.
Under the immense force, Lin Yi's body felt like a fighter jet running out of fuel, sent flying by a single punch. Several soldiers standing behind Lin Yi were knocked aside, gasping for breath as their situation grew dire.
"Swish!" Seizing the opportunity, Lin Yi flipped his "Silver Soul" and plunged it into the ground!
"Screech!" The "Silver Soul" slid several meters across the ground before Lin Yi managed to stabilize himself.
"How strong..." Before Lin Yi could finish his thought, a metallic taste filled his throat. In the next moment, he couldn't hold back any longer and spat out a mouthful of blood! His entire demeanor shifted to one of weakness; the might of the Super Zombie had severely injured him!
The Super Zombie clearly paid no heed to Lin Yi's plight. Just as Lin Yi regained his footing, the Super Zombie transformed into a blur and closed in on him.
This time, the Super Zombie made no attempt at stealth; it swung its club directly at Lin Yi. If that strike landed, even a head forged of steel would be turned into a pancake!
In this life-and-death moment, Lin Yi's potential surged forth. Just as the deadly silver club was about to descend, he skillfully wielded another "Silver Soul," drawing it from its sheath to collide with the incoming weapon!
With a resounding clang, the Super Zombie's club halted momentarily, allowing Lin Yi to retreat several steps and narrowly avoid that fatal blow.
However, at that moment, Lin Yi suddenly noticed a smile on his opponent's face, sending chills down his spine. The next instant, he felt as if a mountain had crashed into him; he could only guess how many bones had broken in his body.
"Lin Yi—" Just as he teetered between consciousness and oblivion, a familiar voice reached his ears.
