"Boss, the Undead Bird has flown in! Many brothers have been infected!" The terrified voice of Witerson II suddenly came through Lin Yi's earpiece, accompanied by the sounds of gunfire and panicked shouts.
It had only been three minutes since the Undead Bird's attack began, and just as it realized that the electric nets were difficult to breach, it dove down decisively.
"Find Hai! You must hold your ground!" Lin Yi prepared to rush over for a rescue, but thinking about Witerson II and the others being on the lowest level, he feared that by the time he got there, everyone would have already perished in the bird's belly. Lin Yi had always tried to protect everyone around him, but he knew he couldn't always be there. This large-scale zombie siege left him feeling overwhelmed.
There was a moment of silence in the earpiece before Witerson II replied firmly, "Yes, Captain!" Perhaps at that moment, Witerson II understood that taking fate into their own hands was the most reliable course of action.
"Lin Steward, I will lead my subordinates down first!" Beatrice quietly instructed before leaping off the edge of the cliff.
In the next instant, with a whoosh, a pair of black wings extended from Beatrice's outstretched arms.
A vampire? Lin Yi's eyelids twitched. Could Beatrice also be a vampire? No, those wings were clearly larger than Nicolas's, and they were connected at her wrists and ankles.
"Right, they're flight wings!" Such wings were popular among adventurous individuals; Lin Yi had seen them a few times before but hadn't thought of them in this context.
Lin Yi quickly moved to the edge of the cliff and noticed several people with flight wings emerging from the stone chambers below. Of course, these were members of the Golden Mercenary Corps. He couldn't help but admire their depth; as expected of the top mercenary group, even their combat suits were designed to be more advanced than his own. Lin Yi's combat suit was comfortable but lacked significant functionality.
"Boss, I'll take you down!" Nicolas approached Lin Yi, noticing that he also wanted to descend.
"Okay!" Lin Yi didn't waste any time and turned to Lulu. "You and Renesmee find a safe place to hide!"
Lulu and Renesmee nodded and headed down through the entrance. Without hesitation, Lin Yi opened his arms. In the next moment, Nicolas spread his wings and took off, gripping Lin Yi's arms tightly.
With a whoosh! Nicolas's expression tightened as his wings flapped furiously. Lin Yi felt his feet leave the ground. In an instant, they shot downward like a blur, the rushing wind roaring like thunder in their ears.
In the blink of an eye, they had already covered half the distance. Just then, a sharp screech echoed as three Undead Birds spotted them and swooped in at high speed, matching Nicolas's pace!
Lin Yi narrowed his eyes as a fierce look crossed his face! The next moment, with a clang, Golden Sound rang out as Silver Soul was drawn and slashed toward the three approaching Undead Birds.
With a whoosh! Seeing Lin Yi's Silver Soul flying toward them with overwhelming force, the Undead Birds frantically flapped their wings in an attempt to change direction. But Lin Yi was too fast; he pierced through two of the Undead Birds' bodies with one strike. They split apart with a hiss and plummeted downwards. The third Undead Bird was farther away and only had half its wing severed by Silver Soul's blade. Without its wing, it could not fly and crashed down to earth, ultimately ending up as nothing more than a pile of flesh.
Nicolas broke out in a cold sweat and dared not slow down for even a moment as he accelerated downward; the scenery on both sides rushed past them rapidly.
"Whoosh!" A few seconds later, Lin Yi stepped onto solid ground once again, and the sensation felt very real.
"Roar!" Just as Lin Yi's heels touched the ground, a Giant Zombie swung its Iron Rod directly at him. At that moment, Lin Yi found it easy to either attack or retreat, but he couldn't ignore Nicolas beside him.
Nicolas hadn't yet grasped the situation when he suddenly felt a force at his waist, sending him crashing toward the mountainside.
With a loud bang, Lin Yi had just pushed Nicolas away by a meter when the Giant Zombie's Iron Rod came crashing down, creating a massive crater about half a meter wide at Lin Yi's feet.
"Get up there first!" Lin Yi shoved Nicolas upward and then drew out Silver Soul, preparing to face the Giant Zombie's next attack. Although Nicolas was as fast as lightning, his personal strength was still too weak. In this valley filled with Giant Zombies, he was practically fish on a chopping board.
The Giant Zombie, having missed its strike, was not about to give up easily. It let out an angry roar and swung its Iron Rod horizontally at Lin Yi! In the next second, the iron rod passed right through Lin Yi's body, revealing only an afterimage.
"Roar—" The Giant Zombie growled lowly, curious about where Lin Yi had gone when it suddenly felt a sharp chill at its neck. The next moment, its massive head was sent flying.
Now, Lin Yi's speed and strength had nearly reached Seven-Star Peak. He certainly wouldn't foolishly compete in strength with the Zombie; instead, he used his speed advantage to circle behind the Zombie and delivered a fatal blow.
"Bang!" At that moment, a loud thud echoed as something heavy hit the ground nearby. Lin Yi's mental energy had been spread out during the battle, so he knew that Beatrice was the newcomer.
"I didn't expect you to be faster than me!" Beatrice also sensed a dark shadow rapidly shooting toward the ground and wondered if Lin Yi had jumped off the mountain in despair.
Suddenly, Beatrice saw Lin Yi's gaze turn cold. Before he could figure out what was happening, a silver flash zipped past his ear, and the gust of wind generated by its lightning speed made Beatrice's cheek sting.
"Hiss!" Beatrice winced. Just as he prepared to counterattack, he heard a "thud" behind him—the sound of a blade slicing into flesh.
Turning around at the sound, Beatrice discovered a Zombie less than a meter away from him, swinging a massive club in an attempt to attack. However, there was a blade embedded in the Giant Zombie's head—it was Lin Yi’s Silver Soul. In that critical moment, Lin Yi had no time to explain; he simply controlled Silver Soul to shoot forward and forcefully pushed the Zombie back nearly a meter.
Although the Giant Zombie had been pierced through the head by Lin Yi's strike, it was clear that it still had life left in it. However, Beatrice quickly reacted and would not allow this Giant Zombie to continue threatening him.
A dazzling cold light flashed as Beatrice swiftly drew the long knife from his back. In the next instant, without any warning, he sliced the Giant Zombie in half—its Iron Rod split into two pieces as well.
The fierce expression on Beatrice's face eased somewhat with that strike. If it hadn't been for Lin Yi’s timely intervention just now, he would have likely been turned into a pile of meat paste.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" A series of thudding sounds echoed as the Mercenaries who had jumped down with Beatrice began to arrive.
"Brothers, let's make this quick!" Beatrice raised her long blade high and charged at a Zombie rushing towards her.
Lin Yi took a quick glance around; there were nearly two thousand Zombies surrounding them, while the number of people who had just descended was only a few dozen. Defeating these Zombies would indeed be a fierce battle! Fortunately, the Grenade Launcher on the mountaintop was continuously firing, and only a handful of Zombies managed to get through. Otherwise, the ground would likely be swarming with tens of thousands of Zombies by now.
"Hmph, I will ensure that you have no way back!" The violent rage within Lin Yi was stirred by the surrounding bloodshed. He transformed into a streak of light, darting among the different Zombies.
In an instant, cold glints mixed with roars filled the scene as severed limbs and body parts flew everywhere, accompanied by black liquid splattering around. As soon as this liquid touched the ground, even the hard stone showed signs of corrosion. This battle between humans and Zombies resembled a chaotic hell filled with evil spirits. The smell of blood excited the Zombies, while the intense stench of decay stimulated everyone's nerves. If they didn't wipe out these Zombies today, none of them would leave alive.
Lin Yi naturally didn't regard these Zombies as a threat; he didn't even need to use Blade Qi to easily slay them one by one. His method of killing Zombies now resembled Old Black's style—he would stealthily strike from behind and then instantly shift to the next Zombie's back for another swift kill.
"Roar!" The speed at which Lin Yi slaughtered attracted the attention of several powerful Zombies. Just moments ago, their combat prowess had been astonishing; a Two-Star Mercenary from the Golden Mercenary group was almost instantly killed, his head blown apart with brain matter splattering everywhere.
Lin Yi's eyelid twitched as he coldly snorted and charged towards them. However, just as he moved, he sensed something amiss—two of those Zombies quickly formed a back-to-back duo, subtly creating a triangular formation around him.
There was indeed some strategy involved; Lin Yi understood that this formation could trap him while also defending against any sneak attacks from behind. But in the face of absolute power, all such tactics were futile.
In the next moment, Lin Yi vanished from everyone's sight, and suddenly there were four figures of him appearing on the battlefield! Even the six Giant Zombies that had prepared various defenses were left dumbfounded; they had no idea which one was the real Lin Yi!
