The widest part of the Apennine Peninsula exceeds two hundred and forty kilometers, but as the southern extension of the Alps, most of the area consists of high mountains. The direction of the Zombie Attack is primarily concentrated in the flatter areas on both sides, and at this moment, Lin Yi stands on a patch of flat ground, watching the ever-increasing number of Zombies in the distance.
These Zombies are only a small fraction; the vast majority are Zombie Beasts. It is likely that the Intelligent Zombie orchestrating this Attack has driven all the Zombie Beasts from across the peninsula here, while those Zombies that have undergone Corpseification merely serve as commanders.
The booming sound of artillery fire echoed continuously, causing the ground to vibrate with a low hum. The Zombie Beasts charged forward fearlessly, and with each shell that fell, several Zombie Beasts were blown to pieces. Yet even so, the number of Zombie Beasts remained terrifyingly high.
Previously, Lin Yi had faced an assault of one hundred thousand Zombies near the Tiber River, and now the entire peninsula was on the brink of collapse, with the number of Zombies exceeding ten million. Despite everyone fighting desperately, there was no sign of a decrease in their numbers. This was mainly due to their proximity to the ocean, where large-scale Oceanic Undead had drained a significant portion of humanity's strength.
"Captain, rushing in now would only lead to our deaths!" Jian had somehow arrived next to Lin Yi. They had parked their convoy on a street several hundred meters away from the horde of Zombies, making it easy to retreat if necessary.
Lin Yi glanced at Jian and noticed an earring in her earlobe. Regardless of how tough she appeared now, she was still a woman at heart.
"With their artillery fire so intense right now, they surely won't let us walk into death!" Although Lin Yi didn't particularly like Bruh, he knew that Bruh wouldn't send him to his doom.
Sure enough, a few minutes later, Lin Yi received another message from Bruh. He informed Lin Yi that members of the Golden Mercenary Corps were on their way but would be slower due to their large numbers.
Thinking about the Golden Mercenary Corps reminded Lin Yi of his previous encounter with Beatrice. As someone with Seven-Star Level combat capabilities, Lin Yi understood just how powerful his strongest forces could be; such individuals were certainly rare. However, Beatrice was merely a commander of a division and already posed a threat to him. What kind of terrifying combat power did the entire Golden Mercenary Corps possess?
Five minutes later, the battle nearby had reached a stalemate. At this moment, Lin Yi felt vibrations beneath his feet and soon spotted an armored vehicle within his line of sight!
Then came a second, third... until finally Lin Yi lost count; there were at least over one hundred twenty armored vehicles appearing. What kind of formidable force was this? Even a fully equipped battalion wouldn't have half as many armored vehicles as this group.
Suddenly, Lin Yi felt a gust of wind rush past him. Instinctively preparing to draw his weapon in defense, he heard a familiar voice call out just in time: "Lin Steward, it's me Beatrice!"
A cold sweat broke out on Lin Yi's forehead; if Beatrice had intended to attack him just now, he wondered if he could have dodged it. Danger was indeed everywhere; one had to remain vigilant at all times.
"Beatrice, I assume everything is well with Mr. Bruh? How shall we coordinate?" Lin Yi forced a smile despite feeling awkward. Beatrice appeared quite young; however, her chestnut hair framed her sharply defined face with an air of maturity that belied her age. In her presence, Lin Yi felt more like a subordinate than a First-Class Steward.
"Haha, Lin Steward is too kind! Mr. Bruh suggested we combine forces for an Attack to break through and create an opening; once we reach the city gate, we can figure out how to get inside!"
Lin Yi looked at the cluster of armored vehicles brought by Beatrice and realized that while this battle would be tough, breaking through their defenses shouldn't be too difficult.
The commotion had drawn the attention of the Zombies, who were now showing signs of preparing to surround them. Lin Yi and Beatrice quickly organized their forces based on their respective strengths, ultimately deciding to position the armored vehicles on the perimeter while Lin Yi's convoy would take the center to coordinate the attack.
The deployment was swift, with over a hundred vehicles crowding together, occupying nearly a kilometer of the surrounding area. Beatrice took the initiative to request a spot on Lin Yi's command vehicle to direct the convoy's advance, which Lin Yi readily agreed to. After all, the armored vehicles were on the outside; despite their formidable defenses, they were still at significant risk.
"Let's move out!" With the command from both Butlers, the convoy surged forward toward the Zombie Army. Upon realizing that their opponents were advancing, a portion of the Zombie Beasts broke off and charged toward Lin Yi and his team.
The defensive machine guns mounted on the armored vehicles opened fire instantly. The sound of gunfire mixed with the roars of Zombies echoed throughout the battlefield. Each Mercenary did their best to find angles through shooting ports to fire at the swarm of Zombie Beasts. If these creatures got too close, they could easily overturn an armored vehicle.
Many of Lin Yi's Mercenaries stood atop Transport Vehicles, giving them a clear view and unrestricted firing range.
In an instant, the armored cluster collided head-on with the rushing Zombie Beasts like a massive iron beast.
"Boom!"
"Boom!"

The battlefield erupted with violent collision sounds as those Zombie Beasts that had rushed forward in an attempt to block the armored vehicles were crushed under their weight. These armored vehicles had been modified, with their fronts reinforced by steel plates several centimeters thick. Additionally, sharp triangular alloy protrusions at the front pierced through any Zombie or Zombie Beast that came too close.
In just a few blinks, black ichor and decaying flesh coated the armored vehicles. However, this was merely an appetizer; the first wave of attacking Zombie Beasts numbered only in the dozens and was quickly eliminated by Lin Yi's team. Soon after, it seemed as if these Zombies and Zombie Beasts received some sort of command as they split into two groups and surged toward both sides. They understood that confronting the armored vehicles head-on would lead to disastrous results.
At this moment, Lin Yi and his team sprang into action. To prevent Zombies from flanking their convoy from both sides, they began firing as soon as they noticed the enemy splitting into two groups.
While Laser Beams were powerful, unless they struck a Zombie's head, their effectiveness was often less than that of standard ammunition. Of course, international regulations had already banned such ammunition, making its use rare.
Thousands of laser beams fired simultaneously created a stunning spectacle. Although they couldn't eliminate all the charging Zombie Beasts in one go, many had already been severely burned and were emitting plumes of black smoke. Yet these mindless creatures pressed on without fear; those Zombies that broke through the defensive line roared defiantly as they charged recklessly toward both sides of the armored vehicles!
The sheer force of impact made even the armored vehicles feel unsteady. However, Beatrice showed little sign of anxiety; her focus remained fixed on the battlefield ahead.
"Beatrice, you don't seem worried about the Zombie Beasts flanking us," Lin Yi couldn't help but ask. He realized he knew very little about this First Mercenary Corps.
"Our armored cluster was designed specifically to deal with those Zombies and Zombie Beasts. So their attempt to encircle us from both sides won't be so easily successful!" Beatrice declared confidently.
Lin Yi chuckled at his own ignorance; the reputation of the First Mercenary Corps was not something easily earned. If they could be wiped out so easily, it would be a laughingstock.
"I was overthinking it. But it seems that missile strike earlier didn't affect you much," Lin Yi recalled the scene of missile coverage, still feeling a lingering fear. However, the First Mercenary Corps was much larger than his own team, and he wondered how they managed to avoid the attack.
"Hmph, those guys don't care about our lives. Luckily, my armored vehicle is equipped with a decoy system that interfered with the missiles' trajectories. Still, a few of my Transport Vehicles couldn't escape the missile strikes, and we suffered losses!" Beatrice's face suddenly turned cold, her eyes revealing a terrifying killing intent.
Lin Yi felt indifferent; his own team had managed to survive this farce of friendly fire thanks to a makeshift plan he had come up with on the spot.
At that moment, an armored vehicle at the front suddenly leaped into the air, seemingly about to crash down on their convoy. Lin Yi felt a surge of intense energy beside him, and in the next instant, the armored vehicle that was about to fall was suspended ten meters above the ground.
Lin Yi's eyes widened as he saw a Giant Zombie appear ahead. Unlike typical Zombies that were decayed and rotting, this one seemed to be coated in a shiny black substance, exuding an aura of immense strength.
"Lin Steward! This big guy is up to you!" Beatrice shouted as she controlled the floating armored vehicle and couldn't spare any hands.
"Got it!" Lin Yi nodded and took a step forward, finding himself right in front of the Giant Zombie. The creature resembled an ancient shield-bearer, wielding a massive steel plate that it swung back and forth. The bullets fired at it merely bounced off without inflicting any damage.
Seeing Lin Yi approach, the Giant Zombie suddenly crouched down, and in the next moment, it launched itself toward Lin Yi like a cannonball!
