Arrogance is a form of capital, as well as a way of living. Lin Yi once wondered if he became very successful, would he turn into someone who looked down on others. As a normal person, he naturally disliked those who were arrogant, yet why did he always encounter such self-satisfied individuals?
The butler's gaze seemed to completely disregard Lin Yi and the others. Perhaps he was only willing to lower his "noble" status to accommodate this group of unknown visitors because of Ying Sa. Lin Yi couldn't help but curl his lips in discomfort. Perhaps only true strong individuals could earn the respect of these self-satisfied people. He was merely a character, one who could only stand on the sidelines and look up at others.
"Hello, my name is Lin Yi. My friend is injured; it seems inappropriate for us to stay here!" Lin Yi tried his best to suppress his emotions, not wanting to cause any trouble for Ying Sa.
"That's not my concern. Sister Ying just asked me to bring you here," the butler said before turning away and leaving without acknowledging the stunned group.
Lin Yi glanced at Witerson II. Although it wasn't an immediate life-or-death situation, it was still best to seek medical treatment given the circumstances. However, this was their first time here, and they truly had no one to turn to.
Ying Sa seemed unusually indifferent, leaving them without any assistance. Lin Yi signaled Woods; only Woods' Shadow Brothers could quietly find Ying Sa.
After the shadows left, Lin Yi arranged for everyone to rest. It was still a few hours until dawn, and after a night of fighting, they were utterly exhausted. Fortunately, the house was well-equipped with clean beds and bathrooms. Most people simply lay down on the beds without even changing out of their clothes, while a few girls took the opportunity to freshen up in the bathroom. Lin Yi and Woods waited for news; the place was quiet as night deepened. Sitting at the door, Lin Yi could occasionally hear the sound of water running from the bathroom, causing his thoughts to wander.
About ten minutes later, Woods suddenly changed expression as if he had encountered something significant. However, his face quickly shifted from confusion to cautiousness. After that, everything seemed to proceed smoothly.
Half an hour later, Woods finally managed to contact Ying Sa through the shadows. However, the shadows informed Woods that it would take some time for Ying Sa to reach Lin Yi due to some inconvenience on her part. Since things were settled for now, Lin Yi let Woods go rest early. Although Lin Yi had also fought all night, he found himself becoming increasingly alert after waking from a brief unconsciousness; he felt no fatigue at all.
Lin Yi sat idly at the door, staring blankly into space—this was a rare moment of relaxation for him lately.
As dawn broke with a hint of red in the east, Lin Yi's communicator suddenly crackled with Ying Sa's voice: "Lin Yi bro, someone will come pick you up soon!"
Startled out of his daze by Ying Sa's sudden message, Lin Yi took a few seconds to respond: "Where are you?" But only a busy tone came through; she had already hung up.
Just as Lin Yi hesitated, an electric vehicle approached. It was a short-distance electric transport vehicle with one person driving in front and a seat behind covered by a simple sunshade.
The driver walked up to Lin Yi and made a simple gesture inviting him aboard; his demeanor was noticeably better than that of yesterday's butler. Lin Yi smiled and got on.
The vehicle moved slowly, taking over ten minutes to reach its destination. Along the way, Lin Yi was struck by the numerous sensor doors and realized that this castle resembled a military fortress with various automated weapons providing comprehensive defense. He couldn't be sure if he could escape if all those weapons fired simultaneously. Moreover, he could clearly feel that they were driving uphill; perhaps Ying Sa was currently at the highest point of this building.
As Lin Yi stepped out of the vehicle, he found himself in front of a simple two-story house, smaller than the place they lived in. However, it was clearly situated at the center of the entire castle, and its defensive capabilities were likely at their peak. After a few moments of dazed rest, Lin Yi's mental energy had recovered.
The driver left immediately after dropping Lin Yi off. He glanced at the two-story building and quickly walked over.
Upon opening the door, he was greeted by a burly man with a friendly expression. Suddenly, a woman with a ponytail slowly walked up beside him. Lin Yi noticed that her face still bore traces of tears, yet she forced a smile. For some reason, his heart ached as if he had done something wrong to her, something that could not be remedied no matter how hard he tried.
"Brother, this is my older brother!" Ying Sa said, wrinkling her delicate nose and pointing at the burly man.
Ying Sa referred to two brothers in one sentence, but Lin Yi understood who she meant. He extended his hand to shake hands with Ying Sa's older brother.
"Hello, my name is Lin Yi!" Lin Yi could tell that the man before him was genuinely friendly—so much so that he instinctively trusted him. He knew this wasn't some sort of mental manipulation like Augustus; this was someone truly worthy of trust.
"Lin Yi, brother-in-law! I am Ying Sa's older brother, Ashan!" Ying Sa's brother extended his chubby palm and firmly shook Lin Yi's hand.
"Uh? Brother-in-law?" Lin Yi intended to say something else but suddenly realized something was off. Who was this Ashan calling brother-in-law?
Lin Yi looked around; the building stood in an open area with only scattered structures nearby—where were the others? He glanced at Ying Sa; her expression was strange—partly happy but also somewhat self-conscious, with an undeniable hint of worry.
"Ashan, stop joking around!" Just as Lin Yi was unsure whom to ask, a commanding voice suddenly echoed from behind Ashan.
Lin Yi had been feeling tense and hadn't used his mental energy to observe his surroundings. The sudden appearance of another person startled him.
Ashan seemed unfazed by the voice and replied in a deep tone, "If my sister likes him, then I like him too! Dad, you're being dictatorial!"
Turning around, Lin Yi finally realized that they were in a grand hall. On the right side of the hall sat an extraordinary-looking man. Lin Yi dared only to glance quickly; the man appeared young but had eyes that seemed weathered by time.
"This is my father, Bruh." Seeing Lin Yi in a daze, Ying Sa hurriedly introduced him. However, it seemed that her tearful appearance was likely caused by Mr. Bruh.
"Hello, Mr. Bruh, thank you very much for your assistance this time!" Lin Yi was taken aback; the man in the dark red suit vest, who looked to be in his thirties, was actually Ying Sa's father. It was simply unbelievable!
Bruh gestured for Lin Yi to sit down, but Lin Yi hesitated as he saw Ashan and Ying Sa still standing by. He didn't know whether to sit or stand. He felt an odd atmosphere in the room; logically, someone as lively as Ying Sa shouldn't come from such a serious family environment.
"You two can step outside; I need to have a proper talk with this young man," Bruh seemed to notice the unusual expression on Lin Yi's face and signaled for Ying Sa and Ashan to leave. Ashan didn't think much of it and walked out directly, while Ying Sa kept glancing back at Lin Yi, as if afraid he would suddenly disappear.
Lin Yi felt a warmth in his heart, but it turned to extreme pain when he saw the tears in Ying Sa's eyes. He had always thought of himself as a good man, but he realized his resolve was wavering, which caused him great distress.
"Third Child likes you, and she's quite determined about it. I know I can't stop her. But if you can't meet the conditions of the Bruh family, then you have no right to be my son-in-law!" Bruh was straightforward, laying everything out for Lin Yi without hesitation.
If being called Ashan's brother-in-law surprised Lin Yi, hearing Bruh say this left him utterly stunned and unsure of how to respond. He never expected that a trip to Milan would suddenly grant him a Future Father-in-Law, especially one so imposing.
"Well, I think..." Lin Yi had an inkling of Ying Sa's feelings, but a man could like many women; he could only choose one woman to spend his life with. That person had been Li Qiweng before, still was Li Qiweng now, and would undoubtedly remain Li Qiweng in the future. So upon hearing Bruh's declaration, Lin Yi instinctively prepared to clarify the situation. Ying Sa had never met Li Qiweng, but she definitely knew of her existence.
"You don't need to explain too much; I didn't go through all that trouble to save you just to hear your explanations. Third Child is my daughter; regardless of the circumstances, I must have a say in her marriage!" Bruh interrupted Lin Yi's words directly. In his view, this seemingly unremarkable young man had little room for choice.
"What will you do then?" Lin Yi decided not to bother explaining; if Bruh truly wanted to test him later on, he could just perform poorly.
Bruh suddenly stood up and laughed heartily: "It's simple—leave your fiancée and never try to find her again!"
