The resistance continued, even though it felt utterly futile. The words of the mysterious figure echoed incessantly in Lin Yi's mind, sending a chill deep into his bones. It felt as if he would become food for these Zombies at any moment. He even wondered where the Zombies would bite him first if they were to eat him.
The mysterious voice did not continue, seemingly allowing Lin Yi some time to digest what had just happened.
"No! I will never surrender to you!" Lin Yi suddenly stood up and shouted loudly across the misty riverbank.
"Lin Yi, what's wrong with you?" Pachy, who had been standing beside Lin Yi, was startled by his sudden outburst.
Lin Yi gritted his teeth, realizing that everything he had just experienced was merely a figment of his imagination. Now that he had shouted it out loud, it felt exceedingly strange. With this thought in mind, Lin Yi quickly waved his hand dismissively.
"This place consumes too much Psychic Power; I’m going to the riverbank!" The roars of the Zombies continued, but the mysterious Zombie remained still. Lin Yi guessed that it was planning its next attack and dared not delay for even a moment.
Pachy was about to say something when Lin Yi, without hesitation, sprang forward, transforming into a fleeting shadow that vanished into the misty darkness of the night.
In the darkness, glimmers of cold light flickered; the approaching Zombies momentarily hesitated and could not continue their assault. This demonstrated just how formidable Lin Yi's killing power had become.
Lin Yi's psychic energy had recovered about seventy to eighty percent. Although he wasn't strong enough to run freely yet, he was capable of self-defense. He wanted to find that mysterious Intelligent Zombie as soon as possible; otherwise, these attacks would be endless.
However, looking around, all he could see were hordes of decaying corpses with no sign of the enemy!
At that moment, dozens of Giant Zombies emerged from the depths of the Zombie Sea, brandishing iron rods and roaring as they charged forward. Lin Yi found himself amidst a wave of Zombies, standing out like a beacon in the night. Upon seeing Lin Yi's arrival, the Giant Zombies wasted no time and hurled their iron rods at him.
With a whoosh, the iron rods flew toward Lin Yi. Having just jumped into the midst of the Zombies and with only half of his psychic energy remaining, he had no choice but to evade their strikes.
In the next instant, with whatever strength he had left, Lin Yi swiftly changed direction. The iron rods missed their target. He didn’t remain idle either; he became a blur as he appeared at different positions among the Zombies. Holding Silver Soul in his hand felt more substantial than using psychic energy to control it. With one slash, a Giant Zombie was cleaved in two. After executing dozens of such moves, it seemed as if the Zombies were offering themselves up for slaughter; they quickly turned into a pile of blackened, foul-smelling meat.
Even without manipulating Psychic Power, Lin Yi's lethality was unparalleled. Any Zombie that came close was dispatched in an instant; from his perspective, their movements appeared almost like slow motion—waiting for him to strike!
However, such speed alone was not enough; there were simply too many Zombies. No matter how fast Lin Yi moved, there were still plenty charging toward him.
In just a few minutes' time, a fortress made up of Zombie carcasses surrounded Lin Yi. The lifeless bodies emitted an overwhelming stench that forced him to hold his breath.
"Boss, we've almost used up one energy bar! Each of us only brought four, and it seems like that might not be enough!" Lin Yi swung his arms mechanically, slashing at the zombies, when suddenly he heard Witerson II's anxious voice in his earpiece.
Witerson II was always the most aggressive shooter, practically risking his life with the Laser Gun, to the point that his weapon needed major repairs after every use!
"Just hold on for ten more minutes! Ying Sa's support should be arriving soon!" Lin Yi replied while spinning his body to maximize his attack range. However, he didn't have much confidence; they were completely surrounded by zombies, and how could the plane land? What if they couldn't escape? Lin Yi had the ability to get away, but his teammates, who fought alongside him, might not be so lucky.
Would I run away alone? This question echoed repeatedly in Lin Yi's mind. He had concerns; even if he had to die, he would first find Li Qiweng!
"Kill!" Lin Yi shouted, charging like a sharp sword toward the area with the most zombies. He knew that the more he killed, the safer his teammates on the submarine would feel!
Suddenly, a piercing whistle cut through the air in Lin Yi's earpiece. The next moment, Lin Yi's face turned pale; that was the sound of a blade slicing through the air!
"Jump into the water!" Lin Yi nearly roared. He always fought at the front lines, hoping to ensure that his teammates would suffer no casualties!
"Plop... plop..." As soon as Lin Yi shouted, the sounds of jumping into the water followed.
This was born out of trust in Lin Yi's decision; otherwise, they wouldn't have immediately acted on his warning!
However, that alone wasn't enough. The Giant Zombies threw with tremendous force; even jumping into the water merely reduced the risk!
Lin Yi's legs suddenly bulged as he stomped down hard on the ground.
"Boom!" With a muffled sound, a massive hole was instantly created in the stone floor as Lin Yi leaped into the air. The next moment, he was less than five meters away from the submarine.
Gravity took effect at that moment as Lin Yi fell toward a zombie's head. With immense force from his fall, he crushed the zombie's skull beneath his foot, sending its shattered head into the water. Using that kick's momentum to dissipate his own impact from jumping up, he gently descended toward the submarine.
But iron rods were already whistling toward him; many had just jumped into the water! At this moment, Lin Yi gritted his teeth and unleashed what little mental energy he had left to control Silver Soul as it sliced through with lightning speed!
"Clang!"
"Clang!"
"Clang—"
The sounds of metal clashing filled the air in an instant as dozens of iron rods came flying through the air, almost all of them severed in mid-flight by Silver Soul.
Although Lin Yi's speed had reached its peak, at least five iron rods managed to break through his defenses and plunged directly into the water!
"Heart!" Lin Yi had landed on top of the submarine and shouted loudly at the person who had just jumped into the water!
Suddenly, Lin Yi's eyes twitched as he saw an iron rod shooting straight toward Ying Sa, who was not far to his left. She had just jumped into the water and was completely unaware of her surroundings.
Lin Yi could even imagine the gruesome sight of Ying Sa's head being pierced by the iron rod, but there was no way he would let that happen!
There was no time to call back Silver Soul; Lin Yi expended every ounce of his strength and lunged toward Ying Sa. The iron rod was less than ten centimeters away from her, and he couldn't reach it in time!
"Ha!" Lin Yi shouted fiercely, his left hand swelling with power. Just as the tip of the iron rod was about to pierce Ying Sa's skull, his left hand covered her head perfectly!
"Thud!" The tip of the rod collided violently with flesh, but the sound was muted. Lin Yi tightened his grip so fiercely that what could have shattered walls only left a pinprick-sized wound on his hand before losing its momentum and falling into the water.
Everything happened in an instant. Lin Yi didn’t even have time to ask the stunned Ying Sa if she was okay when a scream pierced through the chaos. A chill ran down his spine as he instinctively turned toward the source of the cry.
Illuminated by the submarine's lights like daylight, the water's surface bubbled up with blood, resembling a hot spring continuously releasing steam!
"Witerson II!" In the next moment, Lin Yi's face went pale; it was Witerson II who had been struck by the iron rod!
Lin Yi felt a deep emotional connection to Witerson II, but now he could only watch helplessly as he was injured right in front of him. How could this not send Lin Yi into a frenzy?
With a splash, Lin Yi dove into the water and grabbed Witerson II, then quickly made his way inside the cabin! At that moment, they were alone in the cabin; Lin Yi frantically searched for a first aid kit. But this was something he never needed to worry about before, and now he found nothing!
"There is a medicine box by the door of the cockpit." Augustus stumbled down, not sure when he had arrived.
Lin Yi quickly dashed over and indeed found a medicine box inside, which contained a large roll of adhesive bandage. He almost completely unrolled it to wrap around Witerson II's injury. The iron rod had penetrated Witerson II's abdomen, leaving a massive gaping hole from which blood flowed freely.
"Cough cough cough..." As soon as Witerson II began to speak, blood and foam spilled from the corners of his mouth, causing him to grimace in pain.
"Don't talk, I must save you!" At that moment, Hai and Lulu had also come down, both drenched.
"We need a stimulant!" Lulu noticed that even with the quick bandage wrapped around Witerson II, blood continued to seep out, indicating the severity of his injuries.
Lin Yi trembled as he handed a set of needles to Lulu. Fortunately, the medicine box contained stimulants.
Lulu took the needles and medication, skillfully drawing up the solution to inject into Witerson II. However, blood continued to pour out of his wound, staining the submarine's floor scarlet.
"This isn't good; he's losing too much blood! He won't last much longer!" Hai crouched down to check on Witerson II, whose eyes were rolling back in his head, worry etched across her face.
"We need a blood transfusion! We have to do it immediately!" Hai started rummaging through the medicine box for the necessary equipment but quickly became distressed—there was no compatible blood available!
"Right! Who has a matching blood type? Universal donors can give a little!" Hai suddenly shouted. But none of the newcomers in the submarine had matching blood types, and those outside fighting against the zombies were also without compatible blood!
"How is this possible?" Lin Yi watched as Witerson II's lips turned increasingly pale, feeling as if he had fallen into an ice cellar.
