Power, power!
If only he had strong power now, he wouldn't be chased like a stray dog, hiding everywhere, nor would he face the zombies without even the resolve to resist. Lin Yi increasingly yearned to become stronger, to have a world-class team. That way, no matter where he went, he would not fear any threats.
But now, facing these undead monsters, he could only passively defend and wait for help! This was not what Lin Yi wanted, nor was it the life he envisioned!
"Don't shoot the zombies! Aim for the tree trunks beneath them!" Lin Yi would not give up until the last moment. The number of zombies was seemingly endless for them now, but there were not many tree trunks!
As the Laser Beam shifted its target to shoot at the surface of the lake, steam suddenly rose from the once shimmering water. This was the result of the intense laser heating the water vapor after contact.
In just a few seconds, the lake surface that had been clearly visible under the Submarine's Searchlight became shrouded in mist. All they could hear were the roars of zombies echoing one after another, and in the next moment, those zombies appeared in front of everyone, waving their dark and emaciated claws!
Although Lin Yi and his companions shot desperately, many zombies still managed to penetrate through their defenses and approach them!
With two sharp howls ringing out, Lin Yi disregarded everything and directly controlled Silver Soul to slash at the approaching zombies with fury.
"You all handle the group of zombies on the left; I'll take care of those on the right!" There were too many zombies surrounding them. If they dispersed their forces to attack, they would likely end up being encircled and trapped.
Witerson II, who had been shooting beside Lin Yi, nodded as he saw Silver Soul flickering in and out of sight in the fog. He understood that Lin Yi's combat power alone was indeed sufficient. If only there were enough Potential Gene Drugs left now, Lin Yi would have been confident in leading everyone to escape. Unfortunately, they had all been used up during the encounter with Lone Wolf.
Lin Yi regretted not asking Li Xianzong for some Potential Gene Drugs last time; otherwise, they wouldn't be in such a predicament now!
Under Lin Yi's relentless expenditure of Psychic Power, Silver Soul became a terrifying harvester, but this harvester was harvesting the heads of those zombies!
At that moment, Augustus, who had remained inside the Submarine without coming out, suddenly stepped forward. He held a long gun with a barrel as thick as an arm; it looked like it could fire something akin to a Grenade Launcher.
Before Lin Yi could ask anything, Augustus suddenly pulled the trigger. A fierce flame erupted from the gun's muzzle. In the next moment, a grenade with a diameter as thick as a baby's arm roared forward with an ear-splitting sound.
A loud explosion echoed as a fierce burst of fireworks erupted from the riverbank.
Augustus lowered his head and retrieved another grenade from the ammunition box at his feet, loading it into the barrel with practiced ease.
"I used to handle these things when I was young in the army; I never thought I'd get to use them again in my lifetime!" Augustus said, aiming at the target and pulling the trigger in one fluid motion. In that moment, he resembled not an Archbishop but rather a seasoned veteran who had seen many battles.
Lin Yi felt uneasy; he couldn't bring himself to engage too much with someone who had once intended to sacrifice him.
Under the wild dance of Silver Soul, they managed to temporarily halt the advance of the Zombies. After Augustus fired off ten grenades in quick succession, Lin Yi felt a significant reduction in pressure, allowing him to divert some attention to the battlefield behind him.
Although there were only a few laser beams, their immense energy meant that each shot could take out a cluster of Zombies. With the horde pressing in densely, they could shoot without aiming and still achieve satisfying kills.
Minutes later, they had fired thousands of laser beams continuously, yet this only served to keep the Zombies at bay from the Submarine.
In that brief time, nearly five thousand Zombies had been left on the water's surface. A glance revealed a mass of rotting, foul-smelling corpses. The once-clear lake was now tainted with patches of black filth, and a nauseating stench filled the air.
Despite this, the Zombies showed no signs of stopping their assault. Occasionally, Giant Zombies attempted to break through their defenses to attack them. However, due to their heavy weight, many Giant Zombies struggled to maintain their footing and fell into the river before getting very far.
Suddenly, a tremendous roar erupted from across the river, filled with rage.
Lin Yi sensed trouble and quickly recalled Silver Soul. In the next moment, a series of whooshing sounds pierced the air. Looking up, Lin Yi saw several massive stones flying toward them from the riverbank.
As those enormous boulders were about to crash down on the Submarine, Lin Yi shouted, "Look out above!" He then directed Silver Soul into action, shattering the nearest stones in an instant.
Meanwhile, Pachy and his group were also facing several large rocks coming their way. Fortunately, their laser beams were powerful enough for destruction. Just as Lin Yi issued his warning, they spotted the incoming stones and swiftly began blasting them apart with their lasers.
The blade of Lin Yi flashed wildly, and in the shortest time, he single-handedly shattered more than a dozen massive stones into pieces. A rustling sound erupted as the fragments fell into the water, creating ripples that spread outwards.
Taking advantage of this brief moment, the Zombies charged towards Lin Yi and his companions. Lin Yi gritted his teeth, ignoring the splitting headache caused by the excessive use of Psychic Power, and continued to control the Silver Soul, slashing furiously.
In an instant, the sound of slicing echoed as those newly approached Zombies had their heads severed as easily as cutting through radishes! Meanwhile, Pachy and the others faced no physical discomfort; their shooting speed remained unchanged. In fact, with the Zombies so close, their accuracy improved significantly!
However, the Intelligent Zombies were not so easily deterred. Just as Lin Yi and his team had pushed back one wave of Zombies, another barrage of massive stones followed swiftly!
Lin Yi and his companions were exhausted from the onslaught but had no other choice. As a result, Lin Yi found it increasingly difficult to keep going. The relentless use of Psychic Power left his mind feeling like it was being pierced by countless needles. Sweat dripped continuously from his temples, and his mental energy was rapidly depleting.
"Two of you come help! I need to eliminate those Giant Zombies!" Lin Yi sensed that the Giant Zombies were causing trouble and decided to take them out first.
Witerson II and Lin Yi were closest to each other; upon hearing him, they immediately turned to support him. Lin Yi leaped onto a nearby floating log and swiftly decapitated a Zombie that lunged at him.
At that moment, Lin Yi regained a bit of Psychic Power and directed two Silver Souls towards the location of the Giant Zombies he sensed!
Through his mental perception, he saw that those Giant Zombies were moving stones behind layers of ordinary Zombies. Lin Yi's expression tightened as he frantically propelled the two Silver Souls towards the group of over ten Giant Zombies from two directions!
With a sharp "swish," a series of sounds erupted as if blades had sliced through a piece of cotton fabric. The Zombies gathered together to move stones were instantly pierced through their heads by the rapidly approaching Silver Souls, and in the next second, all ten Giant Zombies collapsed simultaneously!
Without any pause, Lin Yi turned to attack the other side of the riverbank! To everyone’s eyes, the Silver Souls appeared as mere streaks of light before they plunged directly into the misty horde of Zombies. The Silver Souls, propelled to their limits by Lin Yi, successfully completed their mission once again; both sides of Giant Zombies were eliminated in less than ten seconds!
Exhausted from releasing so much mental energy, Lin Yi felt overwhelmed when he recalled the Silver Souls. It was as if he had just emerged from water; sweat soaked every piece of clothing on him.
With a "thud," Lin Yi gripped the hilt with one hand while half-squatting on the submarine's exterior, gasping for breath. His Psychic Power had been completely drained just moments ago, leaving him with a feeling akin to his head about to explode even when trying to think clearly.
"Captain!" "Boss!" The others were taken aback when they saw Lin Yi like this.
Lin Yi waved his hand with effort and said, "I'm fine, just a headache. You all continue!"
At such a critical moment, everyone couldn't afford to relax. Although Lin Yi's face was pale, he still seemed relatively normal.
"Hand over the old man beside you, and I might consider letting you go!" Just as Lin Yi was pondering what to do, a hoarse voice suddenly echoed in his mind.
Lin Yi was startled and looked around, but he didn't notice anything unusual. Moreover, this was the first time he had heard that voice.
"No need to search; I'm behind the Holy Legion, communicating with you through thought!" The other party seemed to see through Lin Yi's thoughts and directly addressed his confusion.

"Why are you spending so much time dealing with us?" Lin Yi then "asked" in his mind, implying why the other side had spared the previous Submarine but specifically targeted them.
"We also need food. However, we can't wipe out all the food at once. Those Submarines filled with children are naturally left for you humans. Once you've raised them, we'll come back to eat! After all, we have to consider the Continuation of our race; if they all become our kin, there will be nothing left to eat!"
Listening to the other party's unreserved explanation, Lin Yi felt a surge of anger rise within him. These Zombies truly regarded humans as mere food, even considering their own race's Continuation!
