Standing at the entrance of the tunnel, Lin Yi exchanged pleasantries with several people who had come to see him off, trying hard to persuade them to take Ouyang Shasha away. However, Ouyang Shasha had her reasons; she wanted to take full responsibility for what the Darknight Vampire had done. As a result, even Cook found it difficult to intervene in this matter. The men thought Lin Yi was being foolish for insisting on having such a stunning beauty accompany him, yet he was unwilling to let her go. But who could he share his troubles with? Right now, just thinking about Ouyang Shasha gave him a headache.
The fully armed underground light rail had arrived at the station, and Lin Yi didn't want to say much more. Although everything had been settled during their trip to London and he had even scored a significant advantage, Lin Yi couldn't truly feel happy about it. It wasn't that he was particularly virtuous; rather, he knew that if she found out, it would be over. Lin Yi didn't want things to end between them, so he also didn't want Ouyang Shasha to continue following him.
Pachy and the others were already waiting on the other side of the tunnel. Upon seeing Lin Yi arrive with a woman, he simply introduced her as someone who would assist in rescuing Aoling Er and the others. Seeing that Lin Yi was reluctant to elaborate further, they naturally did not press for more details.
Everyone was already aware that Lin Yi had led the Mercenary team into the Mercenary Alliance and had become a First-Class Steward. Moreover, those from the Lone Wolf Mercenary Group were well aware of the privileges that came with being a First-Class Steward. Lone Wolf himself was a Third-Class Butler and held considerable authority.
The most pressing matter at hand was still to rescue Aoling Er and her companions in Rome; everything else could wait. According to Ouyang Shasha's information, after Lin Yi wreaked havoc at the Darknight Vampire's Paris branch, some of the remaining personnel fled to London—namely Benito and Carlo—while others hid and directly escaped to the headquarters in Rome. This latter group was responsible for abducting Aoling Er and her companions.
However, when that group traveled to Rome over ten days ago, the situation there wasn't too dire. Unexpectedly, shortly before their arrival, the Corpseification Sea Beast launched a large-scale attack. Aside from the Main City of Rome, other areas were overrun by Zombies. Not only Rome but also Italy's coastal regions were now under siege by Zombies and Corpse Sea Beasts, which continued their inland invasion; most cities had already fallen. Rome was nearly a ghost town; if not for its significance, it might have been abandoned entirely by Italy. The defensive pressure on Rome was immense, equivalent to several cities' worth of defense power. Fortunately, many countries provided some support, allowing Rome to hold on.
Reaching Rome by plane had become nearly impossible due to the high likelihood of encountering a massive Zombie attack during landing. After some discussion, Lin Yi and his team decided it would be best to fly directly to Milan first and then find a way to reach Rome. Considering they were primarily going for a rescue mission and given the long distance involved, they agreed that taking only a dozen people would suffice.
After Lin Yi left, Pachy and others began establishing protocols for the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps based on his instructions and divided everyone into seven teams. To ensure absolute leadership within each team, Pachy and his group decided not to appoint new members as leaders; thus, the captains and vice-captains of the seven teams were primarily those who had followed Lin Yi from the beginning.
Witerson II became captain of Team One, with Tony and Jerry as vice-captains.
Pachy took charge of Team Two, with Ika and Flower Cannon as vice-captains.
Douglas led Team Three, with Danny and Jones as vice-captains.
Bai became captain of Team Four, with Jiao Jiao and Aik as vice-captains.
Woods headed Team Five, with Akin and Aoling Er as vice-captains.
Taishan led Team Six, with David (Reagan) and Hai as vice-captains.
Huo Long captained Team Seven, with Number 19 and Ero as vice-captains.
Although Wu Hao's qualifications could have allowed him to serve as a captain, he felt his combat abilities were too weak for such a role. Instead, he focused on addressing psychological concerns among team members. In the future, if new Ability Users joined their ranks, he could help them recognize their strengths and enhance their combat effectiveness. Wu Hao himself was an Ability User and had previously worked in an environment filled with Ability Users; thus, he was far more familiar with them than most people.
Lin Yi and Li Qiweng were already the Vice Captains of the Mercenary group, so there was no need for a new selection. As for Lone Wolf, Pachy and the others understood his special situation and, in order to appease the original members of the Lone Wolf Mercenary Group, they granted him a Vice Captain position. Although the former members of the Lone Wolf Mercenary Group were dissatisfied, Lone Wolf had completely submitted to Lin Yi, and his subordinates naturally did not dare to overstep their bounds. Fortunately, Lin Yi promised them a high enough reward that they would not continue to cause trouble; after all, it would ultimately be them who suffered.
This was truly a life-and-death mission, so Lin Yi operated on a principle of volunteers. After announcing his willingness, he stepped forward alone, inviting those who were willing to stand behind him.
Just as Lin Yi turned around, a series of footsteps sounded behind him. He knew they wouldn’t abandon their teammates.
“Boss, are you testing us? That’s really unfair; we’re all in this together. Are you trying to impress three ladies by going solo?” Jerry had been hanging out with Lin Yi lately and had become increasingly bold.
“Yeah, Lin Yi, when I joined you guys, I also agreed to this principle. Are you really going to go back on your word?” Taishan, usually serious and unsmiling, managed a rare smile in this moment.
The others looked at Lin Yi, their intentions clear. Lin Yi was not a cold-blooded person; at that moment, he saw sincerity in their eyes. Although he didn’t express it outwardly, he acknowledged that he was moved.
“Alright! Together in life and death!” After a moment of silence, Lin Yi finally nodded. He was also worried about casualties on this mission. “However, we are going to rescue someone; we don’t need too many people. Besides, with such a large team left at the camp, I’m afraid something unexpected might happen if we all leave.”
“I’ll stay behind!” Wu Hao said while stroking his chin and beard. His actual combat ability was indeed not strong, so it made sense for him to remain.
“I’ll stay too!”
“Me too!”

“Count me in!” Ika, Jones, Danny, and others expressed their intention not to go as well. They were certainly not afraid of death; when facing Zombies directly, they wouldn’t be any worse than anyone else.
In the end, Lin Yi decided to leave Douglas and Fire Dragon—two powerful Ability Users—behind. After all, most people here weren’t fully united with him yet; there were many things to be cautious about. Regarding Ero’s special skills, Lin Yi estimated they would come in handy this time. After some thought, he decided to take Ero along as well. Ero himself expressed his desire to join; after all, he was the Vice Captain of Team Seven and represented Vernon’s honor within the group. Brice had always seen Lin Yi as amicable and thus requested to join without hesitation but was decisively turned down by Lin Yi. With Ouyang Shasha included, there would be a total of fifteen people in their team—sufficient combat power.
“Alright everyone,” Lin Yi addressed those staying behind. “You’ve all been working hard lately; take some time to rest and don’t take on any new missions for now. The Contribution Points we earned last time are enough to support us for a while. However, daily training cannot be neglected; no one knows what kind of crises might arise when facing Zombies. Improving your own strength is the best way to ensure your safety!” After giving instructions to those remaining behind, he began preparing for the trip to Milan.
They didn’t waste a single minute; every moment counted as Aoling Er and her group faced increasing danger. Among them, Tony was the most proactive; his beloved woman was in peril!
Pachy went to apply for a transport plane with Will, while Lin Yi personally accompanied Wu Hao to procure weapons and equipment. The danger they faced this time was significant, and only thorough preparation could ensure the smooth execution of their mission.
Two hours later, Lin Yi had successfully procured the most powerful Laser Guns and an ample supply of energy cells from the military. Each person's Combat Suit was also equipped with the latest technology, featuring a mini air conditioner for comfort, as well as the ability to neutralize common toxins and treat minor gunshot and knife wounds. Of course, the primary function of the Combat Suit was its bulletproof capability; ordinary bullets would struggle to penetrate it. Additionally, to counter the threat of Zombies, the Combat Suits had been modified to enter a fully sealed state, ensuring that even if surrounded by Zombies, their lives would be safe for a considerable time. Unfortunately, such high-tech gear could not yet be mass-produced, making it impossible for frontline personnel to each have one.
For reasons unknown, Will enthusiastically assisted Lin Yi, even personally speaking highly of him to various department heads.
With the weaponry no longer an issue, they ultimately decided to fly directly to Rome due to time constraints. However, this posed a problem. Rome was already besieged by Zombies; as soon as their plane appeared in the vicinity, it would easily become a target in the air.
“How do they usually support this city?” Lin Yi asked, realizing that without international aid, Rome could not possibly hold out against the Zombie siege.
“They typically send large transport planes flying at high altitudes over Rome—heights that even Undead Birds cannot reach. They then use remote-controlled parachutes to drop supplies directly into Rome without needing personnel to land,” Pachy explained what he had learned from Will.
“Won't the Zombies attack the supplies?” Lin Yi added.
“No, apparently due to the size of the supplies, attacking them is difficult for the Zombies. The amount of supplies they can destroy in one attack is minimal, so they rarely initiate attacks on them anymore,” Pachy clarified.
“Then I have a plan!” Lin Yi's eyes suddenly lit up, his face brimming with joy.
