A cold light suddenly flashed across the Assessment Platform, and in an instant, its area expanded. Lin Yi narrowed his eyes, noticing that Kaich had revealed a dagger about ten centimeters long from his sleeve, now gleaming with a chilling aura as it lunged toward Lin Yi's face. Anger surged within Lin Yi; how could his opponent resort to such lethal tactics right from the start?
"Hmph!" Lin Yi scoffed inwardly and charged forward without hesitation, throwing a punch. Bullets couldn't pierce his body; what could a mere dagger do?
"Zing..." The sound of flesh being sliced echoed in Lin Yi's ears, and in the next moment, a sharp pain shot through his mind.
How could this be? He was bleeding! Could his strike possess such strength? At that moment, Lin Yi felt a storm of disbelief; he never expected to be wounded so quickly, even if his opponent had used underhanded methods.
In just a fleeting moment, Kaich sidestepped past him, and Lin Yi jumped to face him, their backs now turned to each other. After a brief moment of surprise, Lin Yi realized that if Kaich truly possessed such formidable power, his arm would have been severed by now.
"I really don't understand how such a foolish person can still be the captain of the Mercenary team!" Kaich turned around, looking down at Lin Yi with disdain. In his hand, he casually held the dagger, allowing droplets of blood to fall.
"Why are you still carrying a knife?" Pachy shouted from below, his fists clenched tightly as if ready to throw a punch at any moment.
"Is there a rule against bringing one?" Kaich replied not to Pachy but provocatively toward the referee.
The referee was a young man wearing glasses, likely fresh out of school. It was unclear why he had been assigned to such a violent place.
The young referee adjusted his glasses and replied slowly, "There is indeed no rule prohibiting the use of weapons..."
Before he could finish, Kaich looked smugly at Lin Yi and the others, seemingly mocking their rigid thinking.
"However, I personally think your actions are quite shameless..." the young referee added, which only heightened the tension in the air.
"You must not want to live!" Before Kaich could respond, several of his subordinates were already preparing to rush forward and beat up the referee.
"Assaulting someone here could land you in jail; that's clearly stated," Bai interjected, unable to tolerate their arrogance.
Outside the Assessment Platform, someone had already handed Lin Yi a roll of white bandages. Basic medical supplies were always on hand here due to frequent injuries during assessment battles.
Kaich was worried that things would escalate too much, so he raised his hand to signal the others to stop arguing. Then he fixed his gaze on Lin Yi and said, "I won't use a knife; let's have another match!"
Lin Yi's lips curled slightly. He had just been careless earlier, but this time, as long as he paid attention, there was no way anything could go wrong.
Seeing that Lin Yi had no objections, Kaich suddenly changed his demeanor and transformed into a blur as he charged toward Lin Yi! Although his speed was still lacking compared to Lin Yi, it was already incredible for an ordinary person.
Lin Yi's pupils narrowed. He didn't want to reveal all of his strength; this time, he only needed to suppress his opponent to complete the task.
In just a few breaths, Kaich unleashed a fierce punch that rushed toward Lin Yi. Aware of the high-speed cameras present, Lin Yi naturally didn't dare to exaggerate his speed.
Just as Kaich's fist was about to hit Lin Yi's chest, Lin Yi "hastily" took a step back. Kaich wouldn't let this opportunity slip by; his other arm suddenly surged forward, reaching directly for Lin Yi's neck.
Kaich's movements were clear in Lin Yi's eyes, giving him just enough time to feign surprise. Then, Lin Yi extended his uninjured left hand to block Kaich's palm, which resembled a giant fan. Their hands collided in an instant.
With a loud "bang!" the force of the impact sent Lin Yi stumbling back several steps, and he wore an expression of slight disarray.
Kaich felt a surge of triumph in his heart. His opponent was merely an insignificant leader of a mercenary team who had survived by luck amidst zombies; naturally, his combat power was nothing impressive!
Seizing the moment, Kaich saw that Lin Yi was unsteady and lunged forward, driving his shoulder into Lin Yi's chest. However, just as he aimed to knock Lin Yi away, something strange happened—he missed entirely!
Kaich shook his head in disbelief; Lin Yi was still standing right in front of him but had only shifted slightly to avoid the blow.
"Die!" A surge of anger welled up within Kaich as he increased the speed of his attacks.
His fist, leaving behind an afterimage, swung toward Lin Yi's temple. If that punch connected, it would shatter stone! However, that punch would never land on Lin Yi. To him, Kaich's every movement appeared in slow motion. Just as Kaich's fist came crashing down, Lin Yi unexpectedly "fell" to the ground. But they were already very close; this sudden "fall" not only dodged Kaich's punch but also allowed Lin Yi to kick at Kaich's lower body.
What seemed like an accidental move from Lin Yi was actually a well-planned strike filled with immense power. Kaich felt a tearing pain in his leg and lost his balance, staggering backward. If it weren't for Kaich's solid foundation, that seemingly "unintentional" kick from Lin Yi would have definitely knocked him down.
"Alright!" Kaich shouted, ignoring the pain in his legs as he leaped into the air.
Everyone watched as Kaich, a towering figure at six feet three inches, soared upward, aiming to crush Lin Yi beneath him. Naturally, Lin Yi couldn't allow such a humiliating defeat, so he braced himself and stepped back, shouting, "Move!"
With a thud, the entire Assessment Platform trembled slightly, but Kaich's leap failed to land a blow on Lin Yi. The moment Lin Yi had been sitting on the ground, he sprang to his feet. Although he wasn't using all his strength to fight back, he couldn't let himself appear too weak.
Kaich was utterly astonished that the seemingly delicate person in front of him had managed to dodge his attacks multiple times; it was something he couldn't tolerate.
"Ha!" Kaich yelled, twisting his taut waist as the muscles beneath his fitted clothing rippled visibly. In the next instant, he launched himself into the air, kicking furiously.
At that moment, Lin Yi stood at the edge of the Assessment Platform. When he saw Kaich flying toward him with a kick and showed no intention of dodging, Kaich's anger intensified; he wished nothing more than to stomp Lin Yi's face into a pulp.
In the blink of an eye, as Kaich's foot approached Lin Yi's face, he felt a rush of satisfaction. But then an unbelievable scene unfolded—Lin Yi vanished again!
"Ah!" Kaich could no longer maintain his balance and fell off the Assessment Platform. According to the rules, this meant he had lost.
A hush fell over the crowd; those in the know wore mysterious smiles while those who were unaware looked utterly shocked. In just one minute since stepping onto the stage, Lin Yi had barely lifted a finger while Kaich had attacked relentlessly, only to end up losing by falling off himself.
"Useless!" A cold snort shattered the silence. Lin Yi turned to see a Short-Haired Man standing there, who was no taller than five feet seven but exuded a fierce and chilling presence.
The Short-Haired Man's gaze locked onto Lin Yi's. It was then that Lin Yi noticed one of his eyes was missing; he could clearly see the hollow socket where an eyeball should have been. Even more terrifying was the long scar running from the corner of his mouth to his ear, giving him a grotesque appearance that matched his cold demeanor.
"Who are you?" Kaich suddenly sat up and shouted at the Short-Haired Man who had just entered.
"You aren't worthy to know my name!" The Short-Haired Man glanced at Kaich before turning away and walking toward a door on the side of the Assessment Platform without looking back.
"Stop right there!" Although Kaich felt that the man looked somewhat familiar, having lost face in front of everyone made it imperative for him to regain some dignity; otherwise, how could he hold his head high in front of his subordinates in the future?
The Short-Haired Man continued to walk forward, seemingly ignoring everything around him.
"No one has dared to be this arrogant in front of me!" Kaich shouted, swinging his fist and charging at the Short-Haired Man without hesitation.
Kaich was fast, even faster than when he attacked Lin Yi. Suddenly, Lin Yi's eyes widened as he saw the Short-Haired Man make a move.
In an instant, the speed was terrifying enough for Lin Yi to feel a chill run down his spine. In the next moment, Kaich was right in front of the Short-Haired Man. But then, in just a second, Kaich was sent flying like a weightless ball.
With just one punch, delivered with incredible speed, he had knocked away a person whose combat power surpassed that of elite Special Forces.
Lin Yi was astonished, and the others were even more shocked. Many were wondering what was happening today, encountering such a combat freak.
Kaich was in a terrible state; that punch left him feeling as if his entire body had fallen apart, and he couldn't even tell how many ribs he had broken.
"Ugh..." Just as Kaich was about to curse, he spat out a mouthful of blood and slumped down.
At that moment, a door on the left side of the Evaluation Hall suddenly swung open, and a Middle-Aged Officer hurried out. He looked at the Short-Haired Man with a smile and said, "I’m sorry to trouble you, Mr. Lone Wolf, for coming personally."
"Lone Wolf?" Lin Yi instinctively exclaimed.
"You know me?" The Lone Wolf turned to look at Lin Yi, his gaze filled with a sinister aura of death.
