The night was as dark as water, and under the pale moonlight, everyone remained eerily silent. Some were confused, while others were genuinely furious.
A sharp crack shattered the brief silence, leaving everyone in stunned disbelief.
Lin Yi stared incredulously at Anthony, who stood just within reach. He never expected someone would dare to slap him. In his entire life, no one had ever humiliated him like this. Especially now, as the Captain of the Mercenary group, at the peak of his personal strength, no one would dare to look down on him like this.
"We're all family here; why fight over trivial matters?" Anthony clapped his hands, as if the slap had dirtied them.
"Anthony!" Graham exclaimed, angered but equally surprised by Anthony's blatant disrespect.
Lin Yi was speechless, feeling a surge of blood rushing to his head. After Anthony slapped him, he instinctively threw a punch aimed at Anthony's abdomen. He wanted to crush his insides and choke him with his own intestines!
A powerful sonic boom erupted as Lin Yi's punch surpassed any speed he had ever achieved before. Rage consumed all his emotions; he wouldn't be satisfied until he brought this man down hard!
A gust of wind howled past him, but Lin Yi did not see what he hoped for—Anthony had vanished again, and Lin Yi felt as if he hadn't even grazed his clothing.
In that moment of fury, Lin Yi's mental strength surged to an unprecedented level. He sensed a rush of wind approaching from behind. It was too late to turn around; instead, Lin Yi threw himself to the ground. Using one hand to brace himself, he pushed off with his feet and shot forward like an arrow released from a bow.
In the next instant, a wave of energy surged toward him—a pale fist like bone came straight for Lin Yi's chest. The force of the punch made Lin Yi hesitate; he couldn't allow it to hit him. But there was no time to dodge now. Gritting his teeth, he clenched his fists and met the blow head-on.
With a resounding thud of flesh meeting flesh, Lin Yi was sent reeling backward from the impact, pain shooting through his fists. However, Anthony wasn't in great shape either; Lin Yi's earlier punch had delivered a significant shock to him as well. No matter how extraordinary someone might be, they always have their weaknesses. While Anthony's speed was inhumanly fast, his strength was not quite as monstrous.
Anthony steadied himself and glanced at Lin Yi, seemingly unable to believe that this somewhat timid man could exhibit such ferocity.
Lin Yi's anger had not subsided, especially when he locked eyes with Anthony!
With a swift motion almost instantaneous in speed, Lin Yi swung his fist once more at Anthony. He intended to beat down that arrogance until it was no more!
Anthony watched as Lin Yi charged towards him, yet he merely smiled. It was that infuriating smile that Lin Yi despised—the smug grin of someone who thought too highly of himself.
"Damn it!" Lin Yi shouted, swinging a fist aimed at Anthony's face. He wanted to wipe that smile off his face forever!
But it was just an illusion! Lin Yi's punch once again missed its target; he hit nothing but air!
"Hmph, I don't want to waste my time fighting a brute like you!" The moment the illusion vanished, Anthony casually remarked, as if dismissing a ragged beggar with disdain. No, he was even worse than a beggar—just a rabid dog barking madly!
Lin Yi's mental strength had expanded to a terrifying limit; he felt as if his head might split open. But he couldn't care less—men could lose their lives, but they must never lose their dignity!
The disappearing Anthony hadn't gone far; Lin Yi could clearly sense him right behind, ready to deliver another punch. However, at that moment, Lin Yi had no time to evade. Just as he turned around, Anthony's fist, accompanied by a whistling sound, struck towards his chest.
There was no way for Lin Yi to summon his strength to retreat now, and even if he could, it would be futile. Suddenly, a cold glint flashed in Lin Yi's eyes, and a smirk appeared on his lips.
Seeing the sudden smile on Lin Yi's face made Anthony feel uneasy. Yet his overwhelming confidence told him that crushing a bug would only be mildly unpleasant; without hesitation, he threw a punch directly at Lin Yi's chest.
"Thud!" Blood mixed with saliva sprayed onto Anthony's hand as Lin Yi was sent flying like a broken kite.
Watching Lin Yi tumble like a defeated dog, the anger in Anthony's heart finally subsided somewhat. But the next moment, he felt a chill on his face followed by a sharp pain! He touched his cheek and discovered a wound had appeared; blood streamed down and soaked into his collar!
"You dare to hurt me!" A terrifying scar marred Anthony's once handsome face, crimson blood flowing freely. In that moment of rage, his expression twisted into something monstrous; the flesh around the wound had torn open like the gaping maw of a beast ready to devour.
"Who dares to hurt our boss!"
"Don't you dare touch him!"
Two shouts rang out almost simultaneously. Anthony glanced to the side and saw a man and a woman pointing guns at him, seemingly ready to turn him into a pincushion at any moment.
"Finish him off before dealing with you!"
"Round Table Knight, prepare for battle!" Ying Sa shouted into the communicator.
"Hmph!" Anthony walked towards the injured Lin Yi without a trace of fear.
"The Spear of Joan, Missile locked!" A loud voice erupted from the helicopter hovering above. Three helicopters spread out in a triangular formation, with the Missile poised for action!
Anthony looked at the aircraft circling in the air, a smirk forming on his lips, but then his figure suddenly blurred, as if he was about to vanish.
"Anthony, stop messing around!" Graham once again tried to rein him in. He understood this man's temperament, but as a proud member of his family, he felt it necessary to teach these "foolish" people a lesson.
Just as Anthony's form had become indistinct, he suddenly solidified again. He glanced around; Douglas and the others were all aiming their guns at him, and the Missile on the helicopter seemed ready to deliver a fatal blow at any moment. However, he felt no fear because he was confident in his abilities. But then Graham instantly moved in front of him and whispered a few words in his ear. The confident expression on Anthony's face faltered slightly as he opened his mouth in surprise and finally nodded gently.
"Everyone, we are just here to convey some matters; it would be best if no unpleasantness occurred!" Graham looked at Ying Sa, his tone carrying a hint of pleading.
Ying Sa glanced at Graham but ignored him, simply signaling for number 19 and others to help the injured Lin Yi up. At that moment, Lin Yi was in considerable pain; having successfully ambushed his opponent, he had taken a punch that felt like it had broken his ribs. Nevertheless, he had managed to use Psychic Power to control a short blade and slice it across his opponent's face, although he had originally intended to stab it directly into Anthony's chest.
"Alright, brother, let go of Count Sir for now. Look at his age; he can't withstand the antics of you young folks," Graham said as he turned to Douglas when Ying Sa disregarded him.
Douglas glanced at the injured Lin Yi and then back at Graham before shaking his head.
"What do you want?" Anthony asked, covering the wound on his face with a handkerchief he carried, raising an eyebrow.
"Cough, cough... It's very... simple. These two people need to be taken away!" Lin Yi said, suppressing the pain in his chest as he coughed.
"Captain Lin, we know you have a strong sense of justice, but our first rule in the Mercenary Alliance is unity. You claim they raise Zombies; what evidence can you provide?" Graham said patiently, looking at Lin Yi.
"Isn't the multitude of Giant Zombies on the ground proof enough? What more do you need?" Lin Yi clutched his chest, his brow furrowed. "If the Mercenary Alliance is going to protect human enemies like this, I have no reason to join you; instead, I will seek to eliminate you!"
"Just you?" Anthony's gaze was evasive, but his tone dripped with disdain.
"I'm not alone!" Lin Yi suddenly coughed violently, as if his chest were rattling with each heave.
"A bunch of pests!" Anthony continued to look down on him.
"We do indeed raise Zombies, but it's for research on the virus's origins and to completely eradicate the Zombie Virus!" Carlo finally spoke up after a long silence, standing beside Graham with confidence. At that moment, the thin wings behind him had already vanished.
Lin Yi squinted at Carlo, speechless, secretly amazed by his resilience; even with one arm severed, he seemed unfazed. Then there was that man named Benito whom they referred to as a count—he seemed quite significant. But Lin Yi didn't want to engage any further; he had already challenged his limits!
Graham remained calm, but he whispered a few words into his communicator before turning to Lin Yi. "I know you won't believe us no matter what. Let's leave this matter to those above us."
Lin Yi nodded slowly and waited patiently for a few minutes. Afterward, Will, who had been waiting in the helicopter, came down and looked at Graham with a strange expression. Finally, he sighed and said, "Let's head back. This mission is complete. The Contribution Points will be distributed according to the highest standards."
