Death is still the most terrifying thing for many people. The White-Haired Elder had worked so hard for so long that he naturally did not want to die so easily. However, before he could take any action, he realized that the Laser Beams were only targeting those who were still alive around him.
In the blink of an eye, those who had just helped Lin Yi's side kill their own teammates, dressed in Camouflage Uniforms, were completely wiped out. Until the moment of their death, their faces bore an indifferent expression, completely devoid of the pain one would expect when facing death.
At this moment, apart from the White-Haired Elder himself, only seven Golden Killers remained alive on his side, all of whom had been beaten down by Lin Yi and were unable to rise. In just a few moments, Lin Yi's side had turned the tide dramatically, gaining a significant advantage.
"You can't kill me! Otherwise, you will never find peace!" The White-Haired Elder pointed at Lin Yi with a fierce look in his eyes.
Suddenly, Lin Yi's expression changed. With a swift motion, he drew the Silver Soul from behind his back and slashed it fiercely into the air. A series of metallic clashes echoed through the night sky as sparks flew, and Lin Yi sheathed Silver Soul back behind him.
"Hmph, trying to sneak attack me even at death's door?" Lin Yi said coldly, looking at a black-clad figure lying by the door. In truth, Lin Yi did not want to kill these individuals with Abilities; after all, their powers were far superior to those of ordinary people, and he hoped they could join his side.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Before Lin Yi could say anything further, gunfire erupted suddenly. He turned to see Ying Sa and her Round Table Knights shooting at the Ability users lying on the ground.
Although Lin Yi's speed was extraordinary, he couldn't stop them in time. In just a few seconds, those black-clad figures were riddled with bullets, their Scarlet blood soaking the ground.
The White-Haired Elder leaned despairingly against the wall behind him. In less than an hour, his carefully cultivated elite forces had been slaughtered entirely; this was undoubtedly a huge blow to him.
At this moment, Lin Yi looked at the White-Haired Elder with some sentimentality. However, in the next second, he decided to eliminate this old man who harbored deep hatred for him.
With a swift motion, Lin Yi used his mental power to draw Silver Soul from its sheath and aimed it directly at the elder's chest. But after a clash of sounds, something strange happened. The elder who should have been pierced through the chest had completely vanished; Silver Soul struck nothing but air and embedded itself into the wall.
Lin Yi felt cold sweat soaking his back; he had never encountered such an eerie situation before. In a rush, he didn't even have time to retract Silver Soul and instead dispersed his mental power in an attempt to locate the vanished elder. Unfortunately, there was no sign of him within his sensing range. Lin Yi called out to Douglas for further sensing assistance, but even Douglas's powerful mental abilities yielded no results.
"Transparent person?" Seeing Lin Yi busy searching for the old man without success, Wu Hao said uncertainly.
"Is there really such a thing as a transparent person?" Lin Yi looked at Wu Hao in disbelief. If it weren't for the fact that he himself was a miracle, he might have thought Wu Hao was crazy.
Wu Hao hesitated before nodding. "Transparent people are considered quite an odd type among Ability Users. Even during my time in the Eight Departments, I never heard of anyone encountering one. They usually blend in with ordinary people, but once they become transparent, it's as if they've truly vanished from this world."
Perhaps to verify Wu Hao's explanation, Douglas searched around but found no one. Even Jerry's attempts to communicate with a few animals yielded no results regarding the old man.
Worried about potential dangers from lingering too long, Lin Yi called everyone to help remove the hats from Ika and the others. David, who had just flown off in a hurry, landed after confirming it was safe and removed his own hat. Earlier, Lin Yi and Douglas had used their mental powers to control the switches of their hats, sparing them from the misfortune of turning into a pile of bones.
The reason they were able to turn the tide this time was largely due to the tacit understanding within the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps. Lin Yi merely thought about it for a moment, and Wu Hao understood his intent. Wu Hao then directly informed Douglas and David to coordinate their actions. Douglas controlled Jiao Jiao and Jones while Lin Yi managed Ika's movements. David flew up using his Ability, while Jerry was responsible for momentarily confusing some of the enemy members. The entire process was seamless and executed flawlessly. Of course, any mistake could lead to casualties.
As for Jiao Jiao and her companions being captured, that incident had only occurred recently—just after most of the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps had driven away from their lodging place when a group of individuals in Camouflage Uniforms suddenly broke in. Since it was late at night, everyone was already asleep and caught off guard. Fortunately, Hai was sleeping in another room at that time; she took advantage of their distraction to escape with Aoling Er and Lulu. They were later sent to this Red House, but what happened afterward with Hai and Aoling Er remained unclear to them.
Lin Yi urged everyone to quickly board the Bullet Head smart vehicle of the Round Table Knight Mercenary Corps for a swift retreat. Along the way, Pachy contacted Will to update him on their situation. However, everyone still felt uneasy about whether this assassin group had other Zombies in captivity. Meanwhile, Will's search continued; they didn't overlook the Baikal Region either, but by now, all properties owned by the enemy had been vacated. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Will had already requested a comprehensive search of the Dark Night Vampire Organization from the Joint Command Headquarters.
Enemies lurking in the dark were the hardest to defend against; Lin Yi and his team had no real solutions for this issue. However, considering public sentiment, Will advised them not to disclose any information about Zombies being kept within the defense zone. Lin Yi and his companions weren't foolish; they understood the importance of keeping this matter under wraps. Yet if this problem remained unresolved for too long, it could lead to serious consequences.
The group quickly returned to their area of residence only to find that a large number of police officers and soldiers had cordoned off the vicinity. After approaching one of the officers for information, they learned that half an hour ago there had been a horrific incident where nearly all residents were slaughtered by a hundred or so sudden intruders during the night. With most people asleep at that hour, more than half failed to escape this disaster.
Lin Yi then noticed several temporary tents being set up nearby, with many medical personnel in white uniforms busy tending to those with minor injuries. Many individuals were wrapped in white bandages as groans filled the air.
Watching blood-stained faces pass by him, Lin Yi's anger grew stronger within him. He knew this chaos stemmed from his actions; aside from that Darknight Vampire, no one else had any reason to wreak havoc here.
"Something's wrong, I hope Hai is okay!" Jiao Jiao suddenly shouted, and only then did everyone react.
Lin Yi, reminded by Jiao Jiao, recalled a figure in his mind. The girl from the Mercenary group had never been particularly noticeable, and it was only now that he realized he hadn't communicated much with her.
"Officer, have you seen an Asian girl? She's about this tall and a bit thin..." Lin Yi struggled to describe Hai to a police officer, but his memory was a bit fuzzy.
After listening to Lin Yi's description, the officer could only shrug helplessly. They were also investigating the situation, but it had happened so suddenly that their efforts were limited. As for Lin Yi's description, this area was a melting pot of different races, making his description too vague.

About a minute later, Woods informed them that there were no signs of blood or bullets inside the house. Lin Yi's principle was never to give up on any teammate; he found a person in charge to leave his contact information and briefly explained the situation regarding Reiko and Hai.
The Mercenary group discussed and decided to split into three teams: one would search for Hai and Reiko, along with Tony's "wife," Lulu; another would stay behind to wait for the three; and the last team would head directly to the mission office to see if they could apply for a task against the Darknight Vampire.
Since waking up, Lin Yi had been facing continuous trouble. He hadn't even had time to go to their usual mission location, so this would also be an opportunity to familiarize himself with the situation. As for Ying Sa, she accompanied Lin Yi to the mission office since one of her teammates had already lost their life because of this situation; naturally, she wanted to confront the Darknight Vampire as well!
The group drove to Review Square in Paris, which served as a wartime mission office for arranging civilian extermination tasks against Zombie groups. After all, these civilian forces were generally weak; without detailed intelligence, recklessly entering Zombie-occupied areas would lead to certain death. The wartime mission office here operated similarly to that in Ethiopia but was much more organized. It was responsible for assessing the combat capabilities of civilian resistance organizations and assigning appropriate extermination locations based on their ratings. These locations were mostly areas where Zombies gathered sporadically; typically, civilian groups with some combat capability could complete these missions. The intelligence provided here was also the most detailed and reliable available. However, the mission office only provided information; everything else wasn't free—transport aircraft and weapons would incur certain Contribution Points based on actual circumstances.
