If there was anything that Bullet Scar Man regretted at this moment, it was why he couldn't charge forward like a wild wolf. The wild wolf, stretching its claws, was nearly two meters long, and it descended upon Bullet Scar Man like a meat rocket. Faced with the Corpse Wolf, which was completely decayed with only the whites of its eyes remaining, Bullet Scar Man felt a surge of fear. He did not choose to fight head-on as he usually would; instead, he turned and fled, trying to distance himself from the ferocious beast.
Sometimes retreat is a wise choice. After all, who could contend with such overwhelming power besides a superhuman? Bullet Scar Man desperately ran toward the interior of the carriage, but how much space could there be inside? Where could he escape to?
“Pfft~” A terrifying cracking sound echoed, and Bullet Scar Man felt something called life rapidly draining from his body. Soon after, an intense pain, as if his heart were being torn apart, surged through his sensory nerves. His breathing became rapid, akin to someone suddenly suffering from asthma. The wheezing sounds filled the entire carriage, leaving everyone stunned; even the soldiers responsible for defense were taken aback by the preceding scene.
Bullet Scar Man slowly lowered his head and saw bloodied claws protruding from his chest and abdomen. Blood gushed out as if it were free-flowing water, signifying that his vitality was slipping away. He felt paralyzed, unable to move. He wanted to say something, but as soon as he opened his mouth, a torrent of blood mixed with internal organs erupted from it.
In his final moments of life, Bullet Scar Man's lips curled into what seemed like a smile. Then, his head finally drooped down. In his last glance, he saw his intestines being pulled out by the claws, hanging and trembling slightly.
Everything fell silent; Bullet Scar Man died just like that in a matter of seconds. He remained standing, but behind him, a giant wolf stood on the edge of the carriage, its claws embedded in Bullet Scar Man's body.
With a ripping sound, the giant wolf let out a fierce roar and tore Bullet Scar Man's corpse in half. Blood and entrails splattered onto every soldier present; the flesh mixed with Bullet Scar Man's lifetime of glory and shame was transformed into mere history by the giant wolf.
“What are you waiting for? Shoot!” Perhaps due to the shocking events that unfolded in those brief seconds, even the soldiers who had witnessed death countless times did not react immediately.
“Zing~” The first laser beam shot toward the giant wolf that was about to continue its slaughter, followed by dozens more laser beams targeting its massive form.
In this confined space, it was difficult for the giant wolf to maneuver; it could only watch helplessly as these deadly beams struck its body. However, the giant wolf was not afraid; strictly speaking, it was already a wolf that had died once.
At that moment, the giant wolf's massive body played a significant role. Although laser beams struck it without fail, they only created dozens of holes oozing black foul liquid on its body without causing any other discomfort.
The soldiers began to panic; this space was too constricting for them with no chance of escape. The carriage's exit was blocked; all they could do was fight to the end.
Brilliant laser beams danced within the carriage as they made intimate contact with the giant wolf. But this barrage lasted only until the second volley; by then, one soldier had already had his chest crushed by the wolf's claws. Its strength was overwhelming; even though this soldier wore a powerful Combat Suit, he still succumbed to a fatal heart extraction.
Before other soldiers could react in shock, the giant wolf continued its assault. It forcefully reared back and slammed down its claws onto two soldiers attempting to get close for shooting, pinning them to the ground before slashing their throats. The unfortunate soldiers had their arteries severed in an instant; blood sprayed up to the ceiling. The surrounding area became drenched in a horrific rain of blood due to its reckless splattering.
The giant wolf had no interest in admiring its own achievements; it had only one purpose: to kill relentlessly! The most terrifying and brutal demon was it, and it aimed to make these once arrogant people understand the power of the wolf clan!
"Thud!"
"Crash!"
With swift movements, the giant wolf claimed the lives of several soldiers in an instant. There were not many soldiers in the vehicle to begin with, and with a single sweep, the giant wolf had already taken out half of them. Now, they felt like a group of infants trapped in a cage with a beast, facing nothing but death.
No one would resign themselves to their fate until the very end, and even then, they would not turn back. The soldiers went mad; they began shooting recklessly, with some even firing their Flame Guns directly at the giant wolf, completely disregarding the lives of their comrades.
The intense flames clearly affected the giant wolf; it paused its attack momentarily. However, the soldiers soon realized that even though the beast was engulfed in fire, it remained unyielding like a king without a hint of fear.
Attack, slaughter—this Flame King continued its mission. The terrified people before it seemed to shrink further in its eyes.
Lasers and flames, screams and roars filled this confined space in an instant. The entire area began to swell; no one could discern what lay ahead as everyone vented their emotions in their own way.
The soldiers in the cockpit were utterly terrified. The crimson data on the safety dashboard warned them that the vehicle's temperature was dangerously high and nearing its limit. The vehicle operated on compressed fuel, and once it exploded, it would unleash tremendous energy. Naturally, this destructive power was unimaginable, and this soldier did not wish to die; he found no place safe and could only accelerate desperately.
The cramped cabin was in chaos, filled with a nauseating stench of blood and an increasingly strong burnt odor permeating every inch of space. Soldiers screamed wildly while the giant wolf roared; however, the intensifying flames gradually obscured everything—what lay within the fire was hard to see clearly.
"Boom—bang!" A deafening explosion erupted behind Lin Yi. He knew little about what had transpired in that brief minute; he estimated he would never know.
The explosion created a sonic whirlwind that lifted everything nearby—be it zombies or beasts—into the air before crashing heavily back down. Lin Yi watched as the last truck responsible for covering their retreat exploded in flames, turning into a pile of scrap metal.
The explosion of the truck where Bullet Scar Man was located bought everyone some time to escape. The massive horde composed of beasts suffered significant losses due to proximity to the blast. At that moment, Lin Yi decisively gestured for the vehicle to charge out at full speed. As long as they could break free from the encirclement of zombies, there was a good chance they could escape.
“Convoy is on fire, requesting support! Requesting support!”
Just as Lin Yi let out a sigh of relief, the urgent cries for help echoed through the speakers again. The so-called Convoy was the vehicle closest to Bullet Scar Man, but at this moment, there was nothing Lin Yi could do. Normally, if a vehicle caught fire, the logical choice would be to abandon it and escape. However, everyone was trapped in the vast Zombie Sea, and going down would only lead to being devoured to the bone even faster.
Silence fell over the group; in this relative environment, it seemed everyone had succumbed to quietude. No one knew what would happen next, and no one could save anyone else.
“Vehicles ahead, please increase your distance from us; we will cover the rear. We are proud of the badges on our chests; we are proud of our country. We only hope that in the foreseeable future, our descendants can have a stable living environment. Therefore, everything we do now is worth it!” After just a few seconds, the speakers crackled to life again with an unexpectedly calm message before plunging back into silence.
Upon hearing this, Lin Yi felt a whirlwind of emotions. They were heading toward death; they were buying time for others to escape! No one would doubt their courage; at this moment, they were the greatest heroes!
The truck had come to a stop, and other vehicles quickly distanced themselves from it. At this moment, no one spoke of love or longing. Sacrificing oneself is a form of courage, but not everyone can face such heart-wrenching bravery with ease. At least for Lin Yi, it was difficult; he felt as though a massive stone was pressing down on his chest.
The halted Convoy was instantly surrounded by frenzied Zombies, and the massive beast horde drew closer. From a distance, Lin Yi watched as the firing ports continued to spew flames while some soldiers climbed onto the roof of the truck, using their modified HQ4 Laser Guns to shoot. They were unafraid of the raging fire and certainly did not fear these harbingers of death.
The Zombies felt no pain; their existence revolved around consuming humans and ensuring their own survival. Thus, the soldiers' madness had no effect on them—only inciting more frenzied Attacks. There was competition among the Zombies as well; they had to pay a hefty price to feast on flesh and drink blood.
In the final frenzy, in the last struggle, grenades exploded among the encircling Zombie horde, transforming that space into another strange dimension. This dimension was filled with flames, rotting flesh, fury, searing laser beams, unwavering courage, and an indomitable spirit of sacrifice.
“Boom!” The Convoy finally exploded in a brilliant blaze; immense flames leaped into the air—it was both a tragic dance and a beautiful interpretation of humanity.
