Lin Yi felt particularly uneasy as a thief. When a sudden shout echoed through the darkness, he was genuinely startled. Just as he prepared to confront whatever it was, Li Qiweng grabbed him firmly. Seeing Li Qiweng make a "shh" gesture towards him, Lin Yi understood that the shout was not directed at them. 0

"Boss, who would dare come out in the middle of the night except for those damned Zombies?" A somewhat childish voice reached the ears of the hidden group. 0

"Your instincts are never wrong. If there really are Zombies, it's better to eliminate them at the first opportunity!" Another authoritative voice seemed to be reprimanding the owner of the childish voice. 0

"Yeah, you're right, Captain. But what made that noise just now was really just a wild rabbit." Despite being criticized, the owner of the childish voice didn't seem too intimidated by the captain's shout. 0

The captain gently patted the shoulder of this still-growing young soldier, thinking that if it weren't for the country's call, this soldier might still be in a classroom somewhere. 0

"Ah~" The captain sighed softly; it was freezing cold, and he still had to lead his five subordinates on patrol. If only he could get a good night's sleep right now, that would be wonderful. However, shaking his head, the bearded captain signaled for those behind him to continue patrolling. 0

Lin Yi and his group finally breathed a sigh of relief; they really didn't want to resort to violence unless absolutely necessary. 0

"Woods, release your Shadow Brothers to help us scout ahead. And Douglas, try to maintain your awareness of the surroundings; we don't want to stumble into their Base Camp unprepared," Lin Yi whispered to Douglas and Woods. 0

After nodding in agreement, Douglas and Woods began their tasks. However, due to the darkness, no one noticed when Woods' shadows departed. As for Douglas' mental energy, it was even less visible to others. Yet at the moment Douglas closed his eyes in concentration, Lin Yi felt an invisible wave radiating outward. This sensation was fleeting, and Lin Yi couldn't tell if it was just his imagination. 0

Lin Yi noticed Aoling Er gazing intently at a distant Military Aircraft and joked, "Reiko, if you want to go back, why not use your special abilities to see if there's any danger on our journey?" 0

Aoling Er nodded earnestly several times before closing her eyes as if truly sensing the future. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes and said, "I don't sense any danger; everything feels calm. Nothing special is going to happen." 0

Although Lin Yi had seen quite a bit regarding abilities, he remained skeptical about whether Aoling Er could accurately predict the future. However, since her prediction wasn't bad news, everyone was happy to hear it and hoped everything would go smoothly as she suggested. 0

The team of over twenty people was neither large nor small. Lin Yi tried every possible way to conceal their figures. Fortunately, their Combat Suits were made from light-absorbing materials that provided some camouflage in the darkness. However, as they got closer to the military camp, the surrounding Searchlights became increasingly intense; by the end, it felt as bright as day. 0

With cameras surrounding the military camp and automated Searchlights rotating continuously, Lin Yi and his team found it impossible to use any stealthy tactics without being detected. If they ran directly under a Searchlight, they would likely be shot down before they even realized what happened. 0

"Woods, how are your Shadow Brothers doing?" With no other options left, Lin Yi turned to Woods for help. 0

"There’s no one around us, but these surveillance devices are too dense. If we dare show ourselves even slightly, we’ll just have to wait for our demise," Woods replied with a pout and an expression of helplessness. 0

As the largest member of Lin Yi's team, David stared wide-eyed at the twinkling stars above with a slowly emerging smile on his lips. 0

"Their surveillance equipment mainly monitors ground-level activity; if we approach from above, it shouldn't be too difficult!" Although David was young, when he spoke up, his youthful face bore a maturity typically seen in adults. 0

Lin Yi was so excited to hear David's plan that he almost jumped out of his skin. Fortunately, Li Qiweng was quick enough to hold him back; otherwise, if Lin Yi had leaped outside their hiding place, who knew what might have happened. 0

"Do you have any plans?" Lin Yi asked, his eyes sparkling as he stared at David, like a greedy goblin fixated on shining gold, not blinking at all. 0

David rubbed the hem of his shirt awkwardly and said, "I think I can take someone and fly over from above, then go to their control room to disable their equipment. That way, we can pass through this area smoothly." 0

Everyone nodded at David's analysis and ultimately decided that David would take Jones to disable the equipment since Jones was a top student in a relevant field and was very skilled with such devices. Woods' Shadow Brothers would act as their bodyguards and lookout for the safety of a female student. 0

David calculated the timing and, when several searchlights illuminated the blind spots, he took off into the air with Jones at an incredible speed, drawing envious glances from the group below. However, David couldn't care less about everyone's feelings; he just hoped that Jones wouldn’t scream out of fear, or they would be done for. 0

Woods' shadow followed David closely—one in the air and the other moving stealthily on the ground. Everything David did could be felt by Woods through the shadow, which then relayed information back to the others. Lin Yi could only gauge whether things were going awry by looking at Woods' expression since Woods often couldn’t speak. 0

David flew quickly and finally found a hidden corner to descend after crossing several layers of surveillance equipment. Looking at a brightly lit building not far away, he sighed; things were not as simple as he had hoped. There were patrols moving back and forth, and the four burly men guarding the entrance were not easy to deal with. However, giving up easily was not an option; the only way forward was to lure those four soldiers away. 0

At this moment, the shadow had joined David and his team. The shadow couldn't speak but showed its agreement by waving a dry twig it had found. Jones displayed a woman’s expected demeanor in this situation—looking expectantly at David for ideas. Now they were a team—a rather quirky combat unit. 0

"My idea is to lure those four away while the shadow clears the path, and Aunt Jones can go in to disable their surveillance equipment!" David said earnestly, tilting his head back. 0

Jones pinched David's cheek affectionately and said, "How many times do I have to tell you? Remember to call me 'sister' from now on; I'm not that old yet!" 0

The shadow waved the twig up and down in agreement. 0

"They have guns; how can you—a kid—lure them away?" Although she disliked being called 'Aunt,' Jones couldn't afford to be careless about David's safety. 0

"It's fine; I'm fast enough, and if I appear suddenly, they won't have much time to shoot," David replied confidently, clearly assured of his plan. 0

At that moment, the shadow suddenly shook its twig horizontally as if expressing disagreement. Then it pointed the twig at David's shoulder and gestured toward outside the military camp. 0

"You mean Captain wants David to go out first?" Jones quickly understood from the shadow's actions. 0

After hearing Jones’ interpretation, the shadow waved its twig up and down again to indicate that she was correct. 0

David was pulling out a ghost mask from his backpack, preparing to put it on his face. Hearing Jones’ analysis made him a bit unhappy as he muttered under his breath, "Finally getting a chance to do something big, yet you all worry about this and that. I really don’t understand how you adults are getting more cowardly as you grow up!" 0

Jones smiled awkwardly and tried to change the subject by pointing at the ghost mask in David's hand. "Where did you get this mask? It's so cool!" 0

Hearing Jones bragging about his treasure, David proudly raised the mask in his hand and said happily, "This is a gift from my mom for Halloween..." However, he didn't finish his sentence and suddenly fell silent. 0

Jones then remembered that David's mother was no longer around, and in an instant, she felt like a child who had done something wrong, waving her hands repeatedly and saying, "I didn't mean it! I didn't mean it!" 0

"It's okay. I'm already an adult; I won't cry over little things anymore!" David sniffed, his voice tinged with sorrow, but he still tried hard to smile. 0

He secretly wiped away his tears and then found an opportunity to fly out again. It wasn't long before David returned with someone else. 0

"Jerry!" Jones exclaimed softly, covering her mouth in surprise. 0

"Jones! It's only been a little while; why act like we haven't seen each other in ages?" Jerry made a poorly timed joke, but Jones didn't pay any attention. She was just eager to complete the mission with Jerry. 0

"The boss sent me to handle these guys. I hope none of you doubt my abilities!" Jerry addressed everyone, but his eyes were fixed solely on Jones. 0

Jones nodded in response, and David had no objections either; even the shadow waved its dry branch up and down in agreement. 0

"Hey there, good evening!" Jerry said as he took several big strides toward the group of burly men, greeting them as if they were old friends. 0

Is this guy crazy? That was the only reaction Jones had upon witnessing this scene; the dry branch in the shadow's hand even fell to the ground! 0
