Life goes on, and so do the struggles. Life is essentially about solving one trouble after another, yet everyone hopes that the trouble they are currently dealing with will be the last one. Lin Yi naturally hoped this would be the final trouble, allowing him to live a carefree life with Li Qiweng. After completing this mission, Kachi kept his word and provided them with sufficient Contribution Points. Although there wasn't enough video evidence, they were still credited with killing zero ordinary Zombies based on Paul’s law, which was valued at 000 Contribution Points. For the two Super Zombies they had killed, Kachi generously awarded them 0000 Contribution Points, along with thirty-one vials of Serum—one extra because Paul had already used one. 0

"General Khaki seems like a trustworthy person; I feel like we've struck it rich all of a sudden, hahaha..." In the hall, everyone was casually sitting or standing around. Lin Yi held a golden card in his hand, his face beaming with joy. This golden card was specifically designed for those capable of killing large numbers of Zombies; it also served as an assessment of their combat abilities. 0

"It's not that simple. Rather than saying that General Khaki is trustworthy, it's more likely that the data we brought back holds significant value. Otherwise, based solely on the Zombies we've dealt with, they wouldn't have been so generous," Wu Hao said quietly as he scanned the crowd. 0

Everyone fell silent; Wu Hao had a point. Things in this world were never that straightforward. They were receiving these rewards because the value they created was indeed worthy. 0

"Ladies and gentlemen, dinner is served! Authentic United Nations cuisine, featuring a variety of dishes from Asia, Africa, and Europe!" Ika announced as she walked in from a corner of the hall carrying a metal tray filled with food. Following her were Aoling Er, Jones, and Jiao Jiao. The three of them had no combat missions and decided to prepare dinner for everyone as night approached and the fighters began to return. While they may not have had the flair of professional chefs, it was still a rare treat. 0

Witerson II and Jimmy had been drinking heavily at the midday celebration and hadn’t eaten much; they were now quite hungry. Upon seeing the delicious food Ika brought out, they rushed over to help without caring about appearances, eager to get their share. Others followed suit, quickly setting up tables and chairs. 0

Lin Yi and his companions had been living on edge for over a month; now that they finally had a moment of relaxation, they chose not to dwell on their worries. 0

"Everyone, let’s raise our glasses to our survival!" Lin Yi said first, looking at everyone with hopeful eyes. 0

"Cheers!" 0

"Let’s drink until we drop!" 0

The once tense atmosphere in the hall quickly transformed into laughter and joy as everyone began to open up… 0

"Kachi, you did an excellent job on this mission. I plan to nominate you for inclusion in the next roundtable meeting," an elderly man with graying hair and noticeable age spots said softly in a dimly lit room. Perhaps due to his age, he preferred not to stay in overly bright places. 0

"Sir, you flatter me; it was just my luck to encounter such capable individuals. Otherwise, it wouldn't have gone so smoothly," Kachi replied somewhat awkwardly while sitting on a leather sofa. He felt an oppressive atmosphere in the room or perhaps it was just his inherent discomfort when facing someone in authority. 0

"Luck is also a form of strength. I've reached where I am today; surely luck has played its part," the old man said as his gaze wandered off, seemingly lost in memories. 0

Kachi forced a smile; he had risen through the ranks step by step from the battlefield to achieve his current rank of Lieutenant General. Thus, he couldn't truly grasp what luck meant in this context. Perhaps he forgot that surviving on the battlefield without encountering death was also a form of luck. 0

"The data has already been handed over to the research institute for analysis; we should have results soon," Kachi changed the subject. 0

The old man nodded slowly and then said, "Washington previously built their laboratory in our country. Unexpectedly, this disaster has turned out to be beneficial for us; we have obtained all their research data." 0

"This is also thanks to your foresight, sir, for having placed our pieces there early on. Otherwise, we wouldn't have known what they were researching, nor would we have had the opportunity to acquire such data." Kachi admired the elderly man, who seemed like he could fall asleep at any moment. He couldn't understand why this old man had taken the risk of offending Washington by setting up hidden pieces in that research facility. 0

"They value it so highly; it must be something extraordinary. With this information, we can survive a little longer in this disaster. I certainly do not wish for the country I have worked so hard for over decades to turn into a living hell." The old man's tone suddenly became very somber. As the highest leader of a nation, he bore an undeniable responsibility for its perilous situation. 0

"Sir, do you think there might be something suspicious about this disaster? It erupted suddenly on a global scale!" Kachi seemed to ponder for a long time before finally asking. 0

"Do you believe everything happening before our eyes is man-made? The disaster has already occurred. Naturally, I will find a way to investigate the truth and protect our citizens," the old man's gaze suddenly turned sharp, making Kachi feel somewhat uncomfortable. 0

Kachi didn't know what else to ask. All along, they had been in a passive defensive position regarding this disaster. No one truly knew the real situation; it felt like a massive stone pressing down on those who could glimpse some truths yet could not see the whole picture. 0

"Is there any way to keep them here? Right now, everywhere is filled with zombies; they can't really relax anywhere," the old man gently pulled Old Cat into his embrace, seemingly seeking some warmth. Old Cat purred softly, keeping its eyes closed as if enjoying the old man's caress. 0

"I actually want to keep them here too, but it's difficult to explain that to Lion City." Kachi's expression was somewhat unnatural, as if he carried an unresolved knot in his heart. 0

"Hmph! Do those guys think they can bully us forever just because they've gained some advantages? This disaster presents an opportunity for us nations. Our territory is vast; as long as we can endure longer than they do, becoming stronger than them in the end is not just a dream!" The old man's gaze was fixed on the distance, his face filled with fighting spirit. 0

"But many of our supplies still rely on them. If we offend Lion City and they impose sanctions on us, most other countries will likely side with Lion City," Kachi remained uneasy. As a soldier, he understood the importance of advanced weaponry but lamented that his country's technological capabilities were still lacking. 0

"You know most countries are like that; there are still those who support us. Moreover, as long as we find a clever way, why can't we naturally keep them here?" After saying this, the old man seemed tired and closed his eyes without speaking further. 0

Kachi understood it was time for him to leave. He needed to take the old man's instructions seriously. Regardless of how things turned out, success would naturally bring him benefits. Of course, if he failed, he would bear the responsibility himself. 0

Winter had just passed not long ago; the air in the night still carried a chill. Lin Yi took advantage of the cool breeze to disperse the lingering effects of alcohol from his body. He didn't like drinking but wouldn't refuse when everyone was happy. 0

"Why drink recklessly if you can't handle it?" Li Qiweng looked at Lin Yi's flushed face and felt a pang of concern. Lin Yi disliked alcohol because he was somewhat allergic; every time he drank, his entire body would turn red and itch terribly. 0

"Isn't life about having fun? Everyone was so happy just now!" Lin Yi stumbled slightly and nearly fell over, but thankfully Li Qiweng caught him. 0

"Don't give me your nonsense; it's annoying," Li Qiweng lightly patted Lin Yi's back. He looked somewhat uncomfortable at that moment. 0

"Is it my fault for messing around so much?" Lin Yi asked, his face flushed with drunkenness, yet his mind remained clear. 0

Li Qiweng pinched Lin Yi's slightly pudgy waist and huffed, "You shouldn't be so reckless. Don't you realize this could bring us trouble?" 0

"What trouble could there be? Isn't it better to let them see our strength? We need to show them not to mess with us!" Lin Yi straightened his back, looking quite proud of his foolish actions. 0

"Do you really think that after witnessing our combat power, they'll just let us go?" Li Qiweng's tone was laced with frustration. She only hoped to return to Lion City soon, but now it seemed there were more variables at play. 0

Lin Yi waved his hand dismissively, a somewhat lewd grin on his face. "Do you think I didn't consider that? Sure, I was angry at the time. But I just wanted to tell them that as long as they dare to do anything against us, I'm ready to fight back!" 0

"Yi, what you're doing is very risky. We're not fighting a bunch of zombies; we're up against a nation. A nation has its own trump cards that we can't resist!" Li Qiweng seemed exasperated. Although she was bold, she wouldn't let her impulses dictate her actions. In her view, while Lin Yi's actions might intimidate some people, they wouldn't sway a nation's decisions. 0

Feeling the cool breeze sobering him up a bit, Lin Yi paused at Li Qiweng's serious tone. He found himself at a loss for words, perhaps reflecting on whether his reckless behavior had been too impulsive. 0

"Then let's take a flight back to Lion City tonight; our Contribution Points are already sufficient," Lin Yi said straightforwardly as he looked into Li Qiweng's eyes. 0

"Hahaha, sorry to interrupt you two," came a familiar voice from the doorway before Li Qiweng could respond. 0

Oh no! Both Lin Yi and Li Qiweng felt a jolt of alarm at the same time! 0
