Being knocked down in front of everyone was indeed a humiliating experience, so the moment Bai regained consciousness, he immediately stood up, eager to save face. 0

"You don't need to waste your energy!" Paul, however, had no intention of facing Bai again; he considered it a waste of time. 0

"I think you shouldn't waste your energy on fighting me either!" Seeing Bai on the verge of exploding, Pachy had to step in to stop him. When a man loses face, few can control their emotions, especially someone as proud as Bai. 0

"Although I'm surprised by your strength, I still humbly request to spar with you," Paul said, ignoring Bai and taking a few steps toward Pachy. 0

Kachi stood silently with his hands behind his back, seemingly looking forward to the match. Pachy couldn't make a decision alone and had to glance around at the others for their opinions. However, it is human nature to enjoy watching a spectacle; faced with a situation where victory seemed assured, everyone naturally encouraged Pachy to showcase his skills. 0

Pachy shrugged helplessly. As one of the captains from the previous three locations, he didn't like unnecessary fights. But now, facing the challenge from Paul and his teammates' encouragement, he felt compelled to participate. 0

"Well then, since it has come to this, I can only comply," Pachy said as he walked a few steps into the open space. Standing nearly two meters tall, he naturally exuded an imposing presence before everyone. 0

Paul seemed to hesitate for a moment, his steps faltering slightly. Yet as a battle enthusiast with D-level combat skills, he was still eager for this fight, much like a zombie craving flesh. 0

"Let’s begin!" Pachy shouted and instantly entered a combat stance. 0

To everyone’s astonishment, Pachy seemed to blur like a shadow before charging directly at Paul. 0

In an instant, they collided. Just when everyone expected to witness a peak duel between two masters, they saw a dark figure fly out from the center of their clash. 0

With a dull thud, one figure was sent flying several meters away. He attempted to stand multiple times but seemed unable due to his physical condition. 0

All of this happened in the span of one second; just as everyone held their breath in anticipation, the fight was already over. The one struggling to rise was naturally Paul; Pachy had flawlessly defeated him with one move. 0

Although everyone had high hopes for Pachy, no one expected him to be this formidable—defeating someone who claimed to be a battle maniac and D-level expert with just one strike that left him unable to get up. 0

Everyone was stunned into silence except for Li Qiweng, whose expression remained calm; she had never felt nervous about this duel. Over the years, their training was beyond what any so-called D-level battle maniac could comprehend. 0

"Haha, Mr. Pachy has made us laugh; Paul certainly needed this lesson," Kachi was the first to react. Although there weren't many people in the room, seeing his strongest soldier defeated so thoroughly left him feeling quite embarrassed. 0

Pachy slightly bent forward and said, "I might have been a bit too heavy-handed just now, but it shouldn't be anything serious." 0

Kachi signaled for two people to help Paul—who was still groaning on the ground and trying unsuccessfully to stand—out of the room. Meanwhile, Bai, who had just been supported by Jiao Jiao and Hai and witnessed this scene, felt somewhat relieved; his expression became much calmer. 0

"Everyone," Kachi began thoughtfully, "I acknowledge your combat abilities are impressive. Therefore, I have an important task for you." It seemed he suddenly remembered something and tapped his head lightly. 0

"What is it?" Lin Yi was naturally the most enthusiastic when it came to good news. 0

Kachi gestured for Lin Yi and the others to come closer, as this matter seemed quite mysterious. 0

"You see, the current situation is truly fraught with danger, and resources are extremely scarce. In fact, in most places, you can't even shop with coins anymore; after all, money loses its value significantly during times of scarcity, becoming almost like worthless paper. I found out that your previous transaction with our supply department was done using gold. I'm not sure if they told you, but here, there are only two things that hold purchasing power!" Once everyone gathered around, Kachi immediately began to explain what he considered a "good thing." 0

"What are the two things?" Lin Yi asked. They had been constantly fleeing for their lives and hadn't spent any money on anything, so they hadn't realized how this aspect of daily life had changed. 0

"Gold and Contribution Points!" Kachi slowly revealed. 0

"What are Contribution Points?" Jimmy shouted loudly. They had only just arrived here, and their previous meals were arranged by Pachy using gold to pay the locals. They never expected that the trade in this country would be so different from what they knew. 0

"Gold is not something everyone can possess; right now, gold is a strategic resource that cannot be casually exchanged. Contribution Points represent how much each person has contributed to this country. They are directly issued to an individual's special account in the name of the state, which can then be used to purchase necessary supplies," Kachi continued to explain. 0

"Are you trying to tell us how to quickly earn Contribution Points?" Lin Yi had almost grasped what the other party was getting at, but he wasn't keen on being used as someone else's pawn. 0

"Yes, the fastest way to earn Contribution Points here is by eliminating Zombies. For each one you take down, you receive 100 Contribution Points," Kachi explained with a smile. 0

"Oh? I wonder how useful these Contribution Points are?" Lin Yi decided it was time to leave this place; it was clear that they were being eyed for their combat abilities and being pushed into becoming cannon fodder. 0

"One Contribution Point can sustain a family of five—four adults and one child—for their living expenses. Currently, a typical job for an adult only earns about one and a half Contribution Points. These people lack the ability to eliminate Zombies, so they can only maintain the most basic level of living," Kachi made a comparison he believed would be persuasive enough for them to agree to his request. 0

"Do we still have any gold left?" Lin Yi ignored Kachi and turned to Pachy. 0

"We've spent all our gold on purchasing this batch of weapons. The funds we paid for food and lodging are enough for us to live on for thirty days," Pachy quickly explained. 0

"So the general wants us to help you kill Zombies?" Lin Yi looked at Kachi without showing much emotion; he couldn't afford to fall out with him just yet, even though he despised being manipulated. 0

"No, no, no!" Kachi quickly replied three times. "It's not that I want you to kill; it's that you need to kill in order to survive!" 0

"We're leaving here soon anyway; earning more Contribution Points won't do us any good!" Lin Yi thought about how they wouldn't stay long enough to risk their lives for so-called Contribution Points. 0

"Let me make two points. First, Contribution Points can be used worldwide; it's just that there isn't a unified value between countries yet, so there exists some exchange rate difference. However, as long as they can be exchanged, they will retain their value even if you leave here! Second, I want to ask everyone a question: how do you plan on leaving this place?" Kachi said with a playful look at everyone. 0

"Of course, by plane!" Lin Yi wanted to return to Lion City; the fastest mode of transportation would naturally be by air. He believed that if he asked his future father-in-law—who stood at the pinnacle of power—his entire Mercenary group could settle in Lion City. The situation in Lion City was also quite dire, so he wouldn't worry about losing his place there. 0

"Is there a free one?" Kachi threw out another question. 0

Lin Yi suddenly understood why Kachi seemed completely unafraid of their potential refusal; he had already identified the Mercenary group's weakness. 0

“How much do we need to pay to use your aircraft?” Lin Yi braced himself for the possibility of being taken advantage of. 0

“One thousand Contribution Points or one thousand grams of gold!” Kachi replied casually, but everyone present was well aware of what that figure implied. 0

“So, if we kill ten Zombies for you, can we leave?” Lin Yi sighed; that number of Zombies really wasn't much. 0

“No, it's one thousand Contribution Points per person!” Kachi added. 0

“No problem, that amount is within our means.” Before Lin Yi could respond, Li Qiweng had already made a decision. 0

Now that they were on someone else's turf, it was impossible for them to live comfortably. Everyone in areas infested with Zombies had to fight for their survival. It was only reasonable for Kachi to ask them to eliminate Zombies. After all, even if these people returned to their respective countries, life would never be the same as before. 0

“Sister Li is indeed a heroine. I won't disturb you any longer. Feel free to train or rest as you wish. When you've decided when to earn Contribution Points, you can contact me anytime!” With that, Kachi exchanged contact information with Pachy. As newcomers, only Pachy had purchased a communication device. Everything related to daily life had been controlled by the state, and with production conditions lacking, all resources were becoming scarce. 0

After Kachi left, Lin Yi felt a surge of frustration. They had previously spent all their gold on equipment and now were being told they needed money or Contribution Points to leave. It felt like a carefully laid trap waiting for them to fall into! However, Witerson II and the others didn’t share Lin Yi's intense emotions; for them, their hometown had long since become a hellhole, making any destination irrelevant. Moreover, killing Zombies could serve as revenge for their deceased relatives and friends. As for the original members of the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group, they had always roamed freely; it didn’t matter where they went. 0

Once Lin Yi suppressed his emotions, he slowly accepted the current situation. As the Captain of the Mercenary group, he had to think about the survival of his entire team! Of course, he wasn’t sure if the few people from Lion City still counted as his subordinates since he had taken on this Captain role rather opportunistically. Perhaps one day, when he found a safe place, he would relinquish this position. 0
