Life is precious, yet it is also fragile. No one willingly gives up their life or the beautiful visions they hold for this world. However, there are times when danger lurks, or deadly traps await, and a moment's inattention can lead to disaster. Perhaps this is also a part of life, an experience to be endured. Growth often comes at a cost, even if that cost is life itself. 0

Reagan slowly descended from the air, his eyes filled with exhaustion and sorrow. In an instant, his once beautiful wife had lost her life and transformed into a Zombie—something that no normal person could easily accept. Lin Yi felt a mix of emotions; he had previously doubted Reagan, but now it seemed that things were not as they appeared. 0

"What happened?" Lin Yi's voice was hoarse. Anyone who had faced such fear without rest would surely be in poor physical condition. 0

Lin Yi stepped forward to inquire about the situation while the other team members began to clear away the Zombies that had been shot in the head, searching for any survivors. 0

Reagan took a deep breath and looked down at his tearful wife. Yet, he still held tightly onto Reagan's leg, lost in the terror and unease of losing his mother. 0

Due to space constraints, Reagan's wife and two other women were in one room, while Reagan and his subordinates occupied two other rooms. When he woke up in the middle of the night, he was startled to see one of his subordinates transformed into a Zombie, biting another person's neck. With a heightened sense of danger, Reagan immediately grabbed his wife and rushed out, only to witness his beloved being bitten to death by another Zombie. 0

The sequence of events was simple; Reagan briefly recounted what had happened and then looked at Lin Yi as if he had more to say. 0

"Your flying ability is quite unique, but I've seen enough Zombies by now that it's not particularly surprising," Lin Yi said. He understood Reagan's thoughts but felt that with so many extraordinary individuals in his own team, there was little reason to be curious about this. 0

"Haha, that's good to hear. I was worried you all might be shocked, which is why I hesitated to reveal this issue. When I first discovered I could fly, I was terrified," Reagan forced a smile and casually explained. 0

"Boss, we found thirteen bodies in total, including the hotel owner and two children. However..." Witerson II quickly assessed the situation but hesitated as if there was something unspeakable. 0

"What do you mean 'however'?" Lin Yi asked, looking at Witerson II. He knew Witerson II was usually straightforward and wouldn't hesitate like this. 0

"Well, the elderly man from the hotel died from a fall; his skull was crushed. As for the two children, I'm not entirely sure, but the remains left at the scene likely belong to them—they were probably eaten by those Zombies," Aik slowly revealed what had happened. As a medic, he had seen gruesome scenes before, but recalling what he had just witnessed made him pale. 0

Listening nearby, Reiko and others began to retch at the thought; even imagining such a scene was distressing. 0

"See if you can bury those three; as for the others that have undergone Corpseification, just burn them—who knows if they pose any further threat," Lin Yi said, suppressing his discomfort and striving to remain calm. 0

"Understood. We'll burn ten Corpseified bodies and bury the other three!" Witerson repeated Lin Yi's orders before leaving. 0

"This commotion might affect others in town," Lin Yi sighed as he prepared to assist his team in dealing with this mess. 0

"Wait! Something feels off!" Reagan suddenly called out to Lin Yi with an unusual expression. 0

Lin Yi halted and turned back to look at Reagan. 0

"I have a total of ten subordinates who came out with me!" Reagan stared at Lin Yi, enunciating each word. 0

"Yes, we just found ten corpses of Corpseification," Lin Yi replied, slightly reproaching him for making a big deal out of it. 0

"But my wife doesn't count as one of my subordinates!" Reagan's expression grew increasingly anxious. 0

"You still have one that escaped!" Li Qiweng, not far away, quickly realized. Without waiting for Reagan to respond, she dashed out of the hotel door. 0

Lin Yi knew that Li Qiweng was not one to panic easily, so he followed her outside. 0

Under the dim streetlights, many elongated shadows could be seen. At three or four in the morning, witnessing this scene on the street would likely have left anyone with a weak heart fainting in fear. 0

The townspeople had all undergone Corpseification and joined the Zombie Army. They moved toward Lin Yi and his group with vacant expressions yet determined steps. Lin Yi felt a buzzing in his head; he had an overwhelming sensation of being caught in a whirlpool from which he could not escape. 0

Why were there Zombies everywhere? Why had normal people turned into Corpseification overnight? He was certain that when he arrived in this town, there had been no sign of Zombies. Or could it be that there were indeed special Zombies lurking in the shadows like Zhao Pei, waiting to bite? If this were a straightforward battle, Lin Yi believed he would not be afraid. But it increasingly felt like a conspiracy—one that he was powerless to change yet forced to participate in. Of course, he was merely a passive participant in this conspiracy and a victim as well. 0

"Oh God, how could this happen!" At that moment, everyone began to emerge. Although they had seen their fair share of Zombies, it did not mean they wished to encounter these flesh-eating creatures. 0

"Where did these Zombies come from? Why are they all old people and children?" Ika voiced everyone's confusion; they could hardly believe that these Corpseified individuals were townsfolk. After all, everything had seemed normal when they arrived in the town last evening. 0

"Boss, we don't have much ammunition left. What should we do?" Tony wiped his gun and attached a bayonet to the barrel, preparing for close combat. 0

"Kill!" Lin Yi uttered this single word lightly, yet it was filled with killing intent. 0

The Zombies before them were no longer innocent townspeople; they were bloodthirsty monsters. If they fled now, these creatures would become a significant threat. At present, Lin Yi and his group still had confidence in taking down these ordinary Zombies without suffering casualties themselves. 0

Everyone nodded at each other and armed with their weapons, they moved toward the approaching Zombies. Their numbers were few; after all, the town's population was limited, which was why Lin Yi was determined to take action without hesitation. 0

Before Flower Cannon even reached them, he began firing his weapon. The sniper rifle's immense power combined with his exceptional shooting skills ensured that every shot hit its mark. White started shooting second; although he couldn't shoot accurately from long distances, his precision increased significantly at closer ranges. The former professional soldiers from Witerson II followed suit; while their aim wasn't perfect, they still had a considerable success rate. 0

However, these Zombies did not allow themselves to be slaughtered easily. As Lin Yi and his group approached, the Zombies suddenly became agitated and charged forward wildly. The distance of several hundred meters closed rapidly; by the time Witerson II began firing, the Zombies were already almost upon them. Fortunately, at least one-eighth of the Zombies had already been taken down; within such a short time frame, they had shot over twenty Zombies. 0

"Arno! It's you!" Just as the Zombies drew near, Reagan soared into the air over three meters high with his son in tow. At that moment, he shouted loudly at the youngest Zombie among the horde. 0

Lin Yi glanced from a distance; it must be Reagan's missing subordinate. However, even as Reagan shouted at him, the already Corpseified Arno merely roared back at them, his blood-stained face appearing exceptionally ferocious. 0

"Bang!" In mid-air, Reagan began shooting at Arno, but it was clear that after consuming human blood, Arno had replenished his energy and reacted quickly. Reagan's first shot missed entirely. 0

Yet no one paid attention to this; everyone was focused on eliminating the Zombies in front of them. Although they appeared to be just an old man or a half-grown child, when they waved their decaying claws and opened their bloodied mouths towards you, all you could do was shoot them in the head. Lin Yi didn’t need to take the Potential Gene Drug yet; after days of fighting, he had accumulated quite a bit of combat experience. Although his speed in killing was slow, with Li Qiweng by his side supporting him, he encountered no real danger. 0

In just over ten minutes, more than a hundred Zombies were nearly wiped out by these increasingly professional Mercenaries. Now only one remained: Arno, the former subordinate that Reagan wanted to personally slay. Reno borrowed a knife from Pachy; of course, he first sought Lin Yi's help but was flatly rejected. Lin Yi jokingly remarked that if the knife was with him, both the knife and its wielder would perish together. In truth, he felt that the "Silver Soul" represented himself and Li Qiweng; how could he casually lend it to someone else? 0

Arno was fast, but now he was surrounded by Lin Yi and the others and couldn't escape. As Reagan fought with Arno wielding his knife, each time he attempted to strike, Arno managed to evade. Lin Yi could no longer watch and signaled Douglas to assist Reagan with his mental power. 0

Douglas nodded and then witnessed Arno, who had been preparing to dodge Reagan's blade, suddenly thrusting his neck onto Reagan's knife. Pachy's blade was exceptionally sharp, so this action meant only one outcome for Arno: decapitation. 0

This might have been the easiest battle since the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps was formed; everyone even considered stopping to watch. However, although the Zombies were exterminated, they decided to continue their journey through the night just in case. Along the way, Zombie incidents continued to arise; it seemed that the country's Armed Forces had already mobilized. Now Lin Yi and his companions hoped to find these powerful forces for some semblance of safety. 0

The journey wasn't easy; everyone pondered one question: where did the Zombie Virus in town originate? 0

If Reagan's subordinate named Arno had already been infected with the Zombie Virus and was the source of it all, why did it take so long for symptoms to manifest? Could it be that the virus he contracted was a mutation capable of lying dormant temporarily? 0

But then when exactly had this mutated virus been implanted into Arno's body? The more they thought about it, the more helpless they felt; they wondered if they had inadvertently fallen into a conspiracy. 0
