It seemed as if the Bard was singing hymns to the Supreme Deity, while the tribe's rituals begged the heavens for forgiveness of their transgressions. The vast and distant voice drew closer, its ethereal tone unlike anything a human could produce. The ancient chant seemed to carry one's soul to a desolate wilderness of silence. 0

Lin Yi could only run madly, but they were far too close to the crocodiles. Despite their frantic gunfire attempting to halt the vicious man-eaters, many crocodiles had already swum within arm's reach. Lin Yi was in the worst position; he had been at the front, and now his escape left him trailing behind. 0

Watching the approaching swarm of crocodiles, Lin Yi made a resolute decision and threw down his last grenade. However, fearing it would affect others, he could only toss it a bit farther away. The massive shockwave knocked several crocodiles over, but it did nothing to change Lin Yi's predicament. Fortunately, his teammates were still holding strong, firing in unison at the crocodiles. The largest one that had approached Lin Yi was repeatedly driven back by their fierce firepower. 0

Li Qiweng had already dashed up to Lin Yi with her knife in hand. If those crocodiles continued their relentless pursuit, she wouldn't hesitate to use the Potential Gene Drug to eliminate them all. 0

Perhaps intimidated by their firepower, the crocodile swarm ceased its chase. But as long as Lin Yi and his group wanted to leave, the crocodiles would follow closely behind, creating a standoff. However, this situation couldn't last long; there was no telling how many crocodiles there were, and their own ammunition was running low. 0

"Wen, you take some people and retreat first. I'll take the drug to hold them off," Lin Yi said, realizing he had no other options. The crocodiles were kings of the water but might not be so bold on land for long. 0

"The situation behind us isn't great either; we shouldn't split up," Li Qiweng replied, hearing the increasingly clear sound of chanting. She didn't know whether those approaching were friend or foe. 0

Lin Yi glanced back and saw shadows of many people drawing near, but they were moving so slowly that they didn't seem like reinforcements. 0

"Alright, men in the front row, women in the second row, then we'll wait for an opportunity to retreat!" 0

Everyone understood they couldn't remain in this stalemate forever. Since Lin Yi had proposed a plan, they quickly organized themselves accordingly. The crocodile swarm stirred again at their movement, preparing to charge but hesitating at the sight of their weapons. 0

"Okay, women start retreating!" Lin Yi called out sharply. The people behind began to back away instinctively, picking up speed. 0

The crocodile swarm suddenly became agitated; it seemed unwilling to let its prey slip away so easily. The aquatic tyrants collectively opened their mouths as if holding a final discussion. One by one, they surrounded the largest among them, creating a chilling mass of scales and teeth. 0

Lin Yi saw them stirring restlessly and noticed that Li Qiweng and her group had already retreated a hundred meters away. He decisively waved his hand and shouted, "Let's go!" 0

Everyone's nerves were highly strung. At that moment, Lin Yi waved his hand, and they all began to run back in an orderly fashion. This collective action completely broke the stalemate, and the crocodiles went wild, charging into the crowd. 0

"Ah!" A piercing scream suddenly reached their ears. Lin Yi turned around and was drenched in cold sweat. Gal had been bitten on the foot by a crocodile and was being dragged backward. 0

Without thinking twice, Lin Yi rushed over, grabbing Gal with one hand while aiming his gun at the crocodile with the other. However, two fists couldn't match four hands; there was more than just one crocodile. The largest one was now very close to Lin Yi, its massive mouth filled with steel-like teeth opening wide to bite him. 0

In that moment, Lin Yi could only think of one phrase: a glutton ultimately has a fate of being eaten. The sight of the seven or eight-meter-long giant crocodile swinging its tail was simply too shocking; Lin Yi even forgot to continue shooting. 0

"Whoosh." It felt as if a warm breeze had passed through, and everything in the world was enjoying this warmth, even the ferocious giant crocodile seemed to forget its bloodthirsty instincts. 0

Lin Yi quickly snapped out of that inexplicable feeling, puzzled as to why he felt no pain at all. When he opened his eyes, the scene before him was simply unbelievable. 0

The originally fierce crocodile now lay there like the most obedient student, docile and calm. Even its previously vicious gaze had transformed into something as tranquil as a clear pool of water, devoid of any bloodlust. 0

Lin Yi didn't know what was happening; even Gal, who had been shouting just moments ago, had fallen silent. The crocodile that had clamped down on him and refused to let go now relaxed its grip and lay quietly to the side. At that moment, Lin Yi couldn't worry about anything else and dragged Gal toward their group. 0

The others seemed stunned by this bizarre scene, staring blankly at the crocodiles that had once threatened to kill them. It wasn't until Lin Yi brought Gal over that Wu Hao was the first to react, calling for others to help lift Gal. Aik then rushed over to bandage Gal's wound but looked somewhat dazed. 0

"He needs to get to the tribe for effective treatment!" Suddenly, everyone heard a deep, aged voice. 0

They turned to see a group of people dressed in coarse linen garments standing behind them. At the front was a frail old man whose face was lined with deep wrinkles that spoke of his experiences. 0

"Excuse me, elder, may I ask you..." Before Lin Yi could finish his sentence, the old man waved his hand to interrupt him and called over two young men who rushed forward to try and lift Gal. 0

Just as Tony and Jimmy were about to stop them, Lin Yi gestured for them not to move. Although he didn't know where the old man came from, it was clear that these people were there to help them. At that moment, under the old man's leading chant, the crocodiles became increasingly docile and eventually retreated back into the lake in unison. 0

Lin Yi considered himself well-traveled and knowledgeable, yet he had never seen anyone communicate with ferocious crocodiles and manage to drive them away without any violence. 0

Once the crocodiles had retreated, an elderly man approached Lin Yi and said, "You must be the leader, though you don't quite look the part." 0

Feeling a bit awkward, Lin Yi nodded. 0

"My name is Pearl Amigal, the high priest of the Masai Tribe." The man introduced himself politely and extended his hand for a handshake. 0

Lin Yi shook hands with the elder, who resembled the chief of a primitive tribe. He felt the man's hand was rough like sandpaper, clearly a result of much labor. 0

"I'm Lin Yi, from Lion City." 0

"Ah, Lion City. It's a beautiful place," Pearl Amigal nodded, seemingly reminiscing about his past visit to Lion City. 0

"You've been there?" Lin Yi found it hard to believe that someone who seemed so isolated could have visited a modern city. 0

"I went nearly thirty years ago, and I still remember many details!" Pearl Amigal chuckled heartily before continuing, "Welcome! It has been a long time since we had guests. Would you care to join us for dinner tonight?" 0

Pearl Amigal made a welcoming gesture that transformed his previously serious demeanor, leaving everyone astonished. 0

Not everyone had the fortune of encountering such hospitable tribes during their rituals. After their long journey, Lin Yi and his companions were grateful for the chance to rest. 0

Before heading over, Lin Yi discreetly asked Wu Hao if he sensed any unusual emotions from the elder. Wu Hao reported that the old man's demeanor was calm, making it difficult to gauge his true feelings; however, he was certain there was no malice. Trusting Wu Hao's assessment, Lin Yi led the group toward the Masai Tribe. 0

On their way, several young members of the Masai Tribe fashioned a simple stretcher and applied a green substance resembling mud to Gal's bite wound, which was said to stop bleeding and promote healing. After receiving the treatment, Gal, who had been grimacing in pain, gradually calmed down and eventually fell into a peaceful sleep. 0

After crossing a dormant volcano, the group quickly arrived at the legendary Masai Tribe. The tribe was nestled within lush greenery, with neatly arranged wooden houses. Most of these houses were quite similar, except for a large square in the center, which was bustling with people preparing for some kind of celebration. 0

Lin Yi exchanged a few words with Ritual and learned that today marked the birthday of their revered deity, and there would be a grand festivity. Just as Lin Yi was about to ask more questions, Pearl Amigal hurried off to prepare for the Ritual. However, before leaving, he called over a young man to answer Lin Yi's queries. 0

"I want to know what you were just chanting; it sounded both eerie and refreshing at times," Lin Yi was particularly curious about this, as he couldn't fathom how those crocodiles could be so obedient. 0

The young man's command of international languages was limited, but he managed to explain enough for Lin Yi to understand. Their communication with the crocodiles had begun long ago, and they possessed a unique chanting method that allowed them to command the reptiles. 0

"I only knew that some people have a hypnotic ability, but I had only heard of it being effective on humans. I didn't expect it to work on crocodiles too!" Wu Hao stroked his chin, seemingly pondering over his beard. 0

Lin Yi shook his head, unsure of what to think. The group felt out of place regarding tribal matters and simply watched the festivities unfold. When night fell, Pearl Amigal returned to find them, but this time his expression was grave, as if burdened by many thoughts. 0

It wasn't until Pearl Amigal approached that Lin Yi noticed he was holding a rather modern communication device. 0

"You came here to escape from the Zombies, didn't you?" Pearl Amigal asked directly. 0

"Yes, most of Kenya is likely already surrounded by Zombies," Lin Yi replied honestly. 0

Pearl Amigal nodded painfully. "The chief has gone to discuss with several other tribes about banding together to resist these hellish creatures, but the situation is not optimistic." 0

"Have the Zombies already tracked us down?" Lin Yi felt a jolt of fear; just when they had settled in, they might have to flee again? 0

Pearl Amigal sighed. "Not yet. We are in a relatively remote area; perhaps no Zombies will come here." He preferred to maintain an optimistic outlook for his tribe's safety. 0

"We should still prepare in advance," Lin Yi kindly reminded him. 0

"What are you doing?" Pearl Amigal asked as he looked around. 0

"Killing Zombies," Witerson II shouted, startling a young man who had just walked nearby. 0

"Good, you are doing great," Pearl Amigal said with a smile, seemingly pleased as he looked at Lin Yi. At that moment, the startled young man approached and asked, "Grandpa, I want to go with them to kill Zombies." 0

Pearl Amigal ignored his grandson and said to Lin Yi, "Trouble, take my grandson with you for some training. In exchange, we will take good care of your companions." 0

"Why do you want us to take your grandson?" Lin Yi found it strange that someone he had just met would entrust him with such an important matter. 0

"Trust me, Jerry has abilities that you will find useful," Pearl Amigal chuckled confidently. 0

Before Lin Yi could respond, Pearl Amigal interrupted him and instructed Jerry to take their group to rest first. 0

The next morning, Pearl Amigal provided them with ammunition and food and pointed out a route for them. 0

The addition of a new member brought a sense of freshness to the team. However, Lin Yi was filled with various questions, the most puzzling being that the route suggested by Pearl Amigal was not an easy one to traverse. 0
