On the lush streets, a long-haired girl wearing a long shirt and sunglasses drove a convertible, looking quite relaxed. However, trailing behind her was a slightly plump man in sportswear who seemed to struggle to keep up with the slow-moving car. 0

“Wen, let me hop in for a bit. The sun and beach are so far away; can you really bear to make me run there?” The man, who ran awkwardly, aspired to be like the Flash—Lin Yi. The elegant girl in the convertible was Li Qiweng. The terms had already been set, and Lin Yi's protests were futile. 0

“Are you planning to break the rules on your first training day?” Li Qiweng had no intention of letting Lin Yi's pitiful act continue. 0

“Then can’t you at least reduce the intensity of this cruel training?” Lin Yi decided to take a roundabout approach; he couldn’t let this girl trap him for real. 0

“That’s non-negotiable.” Li Qiweng increased the speed slightly. 0

“Why are you so obsessed with money?” Lin Yi had no choice but to quicken his pace. He needed to keep up with Li Qiweng; otherwise, he would face consequences for violating the second rule. 0

“Is it wrong to like money? Just like how you like pretty girls!” 0

Lin Yi felt helpless. Wasn’t it just chatting with girls? Why was that such a grave sin? However, he was not willing to give up hope: “I’m just appreciating them; I don’t mean anything else. Your fourth rule is clearly meant to make things difficult for me. If I talk to my sister, I’ll get fined by you too.” 0

“Who knows if she’s really your sister?” As they neared the beach, Li Qiweng was in high spirits and casually turned on some music. 0

“With how much you love money, I wish you’d be reborn as a printing machine in your next life.” Lin Yi was momentarily speechless from Li Qiweng’s retort and didn’t know how to respond. After thinking for a while, he muttered a curse under his breath, but it was so quiet that only he could hear it. 0

Suddenly, Li Qiweng accelerated and made a sharp turn, bringing the car right in front of Lin Yi. 0

“Oh my god! I just said one thing; she wouldn’t actually kill me to silence me, would she?” Lin Yi panicked, feeling his life was in danger and prepared to run away. 0

However, before Lin Yi could make his escape, Li Qiweng pulled up beside him: “There’s an urgent mission at the lab; I have to go back immediately. You can train on your own!” Without waiting for Lin Yi to process what had just happened, she sped off like an arrow. 0

The sea breeze blew in, branches swayed around him making rustling sounds, and Lin Yi stood there dazed in the wind... 0

“Boss, why do we still have to go check the corpse?” Li Qiweng soon met with a bald man—Pachy—whom Lin Yi had seen at his research institute yesterday. Pachy was part of the Blood Man clan; despite having an Eastern appearance, his towering height of nearly six feet three gave off an imposing presence. 0

“This case is a bit suspicious. We’re not going to check a corpse; you’ll understand when we get there.” Pachy had already gotten into Li Qiweng’s car. 0

“Sorry, my car has been taken out by my family member; she doesn’t care about my work needs.” Pachy looked somewhat embarrassed since it was his subordinate's personal vehicle. However, considering that his home was not far from Sunshine Beach, he decided to let Li Qiweng pick him up instead of waiting for the department’s vehicle which would take longer. 0

"Well, that's quite presumptuous of you," Li Qiweng said while driving. "By the way, where's Wang Xing?" 0

"This kid is unreachable. Doesn't he know the peculiarities of our department? Looks like I'll have to give him a good talking-to when we get back on Monday." 0

Li Qiweng let out an "oh" and fell silent. Wang Xing always acted so self-important, which irritated Li Qiweng. However, there was no denying that Wang Xing was skilled; Li Qiweng knew that if it came down to a direct confrontation, he wouldn't have much confidence in defeating him. 0

The two soon arrived at the National First Hospital, where the entrance was already surrounded by Military Police. Fortunately, there weren't many people seeking medical attention early in the morning, and the inpatients had been urgently transferred to other hospitals. Li Qiweng sensed a dangerous atmosphere; it felt strange, as he rarely encountered such situations before. Although their team often dealt with special matters, they usually managed to handle them well. It was rare to feel something was off even before things had started. 0

"Let's go," Pachy quickly regained his authority as the team leader and led Li Qiweng toward the hospital entrance. 0

The person in charge of perimeter security seemed to have already anticipated Pachy's arrival; they merely nodded at each other without exchanging words, allowing the two uncredentialed individuals to enter. From their serious expressions, Li Qiweng sensed something unusual—had something suspicious happened at the hospital? 0

Inside the hospital, there were still quite a few people around. One officer who appeared to be in charge approached them and greeted them before leading them further inside. Along the way, he introduced himself to Pachy as Duren, the direct person responsible for this case. The three maintained a tacit silence. 0

"Are we going to the Morgue?" The atmosphere felt oppressive, prompting Li Qiweng to ask a question. 0

"The monitoring room!" Duren replied curtly. 0

Li Qiweng dared not ask anything further; after all, she was just a soldier and her job was to follow orders. 0

In the quiet corridor, only the sound of shoes clicking against the floor echoed. The pale walls and dim lighting made everything seem eerie. Li Qiweng felt as if she were walking through a cage with no way out—oppressed and fearful. It felt like an unshakeable nightmare from which she could never truly awaken; even if she were battered and bruised, she had to keep moving forward. 0

The monitoring room was located on the left side of the hospital director's office. The door was already open, and people were coming in and out. It seemed they were handling some items; bloodstains on those items reminded everyone that a gruesome scene had once unfolded here. The three quickened their pace toward the inner room, with Li Qiweng eager to find out what had happened. She felt increasingly uneasy, sensing that something bad was about to occur. 0

A nauseating smell of blood assaulted Li Qiweng's senses as she entered; she felt completely enveloped by this odor. As soon as she stepped inside, she forced herself to suppress her nausea. The stark white walls were splattered with blood, and there were clumps of red matter that seemed to writhe unsettlingly. The monitoring room was small, with screens lining two walls and several computer towers placed on a long table along with two chairs. Many of the monitors and computers lay scattered on the floor in disarray, damaged as if struck by some sharp object. Seeing a large mass of blood-red matter on the table and unsure of what it was, Li Qiweng picked it up and sniffed it; the metallic scent hit her hard. However, being someone who had experienced intense situations before, she asked someone nearby for a transparent bag to contain it. 0

"Do you really expect us to watch surveillance footage in this mess?" Pachy remarked upon seeing the chaotic state of the monitoring room. 0

"I think you should know that we lost a body from the Morgue last night," Duren replied grimly. "And the person responsible for monitoring... well, they ended up dead too." 0

"And what about the deceased?" Pachy's brow furrowed slightly as an ominous feeling crept over him. 0

"They've already been transported to the Morgue." 0

"You are the police; you should know to protect the scene. Now that you've cleaned everything up, how am I supposed to help you investigate?" Pachy shot a cold glance at the officer, but it seemed that the officer was not easily intimidated. He merely looked up at Pachy and said, "We have already recorded the scene; it looks no different from the real thing. This situation is a bit special, and the higher-ups want the body dealt with quickly." 0

"Oh? What is the name of the person in charge of monitoring?" Pachy shifted the topic. 0

"Everyone calls him AJ. He's an orphan with a slight disability in his leg, and he was assigned to this job at the hospital," the officer briefly explained the deceased's background. 0

"Then there was no need for the body snatcher to kill him; they could have just knocked him out and destroyed the footage," Li Qiweng casually remarked. 0

"Maybe that person was very violent; otherwise, they wouldn't have killed like a Bloodthirsty maniac," Duren said, as if recalling something, his face slightly pale. 0

"What happened to that body? Why are there still people stealing corpses?" Li Qiweng cursed the body snatcher inwardly, wondering how such perverse individuals still existed in the world. 0

Duren smiled helplessly. "This world is so vast; what kind of people don't exist?" 0

"What was the name of this corpse?" 0

"Zhao Pei. He was brought here yesterday afternoon, apparently sent by a research institute. They intended to keep the body here for a few days before coming to collect it. This is what the director told me; we need to gather more information to know the specifics. We notified you as soon as we could, so we haven't collected all the data yet." 0

Upon hearing Duren's words, shock appeared on both Li Qiweng and Pachy's faces simultaneously. Zhao Pei—wasn't that the person who died in the laboratory yesterday? Wang Xing was responsible for delivering him to the hospital. Now this body had mysteriously gone missing, which explained why they were called in to assist with this case. It seemed things were getting a bit Trouble. Li Qiweng knew well that Zhao Pei had died during an accidental experiment. As a biological laboratory, there were naturally some very dangerous experiments, and Zhao Pei had been killed by three monkeys that had gone berserk after being injected with experimental drugs. Originally, these drugs were just test samples; no one knew what would happen. However, since nothing had gone wrong before, Zhao Pei had let his guard down, which ultimately cost him his life. 0
