I found the atmosphere a bit awkward, so I spoke up, "What should we do now? Should we stay here or head back to the hotel?"
Bai Qiling remained silent, but Mu Xuanche chimed in, "Let's go back. We'll drop Shangguan Chenxi off at the hotel and then rest for the night."
Without waiting for anyone else to respond, Mu Xuanche started the car and drove us back to the city.
Fortunately, the hotel operated twenty-four hours, and we were able to check in smoothly once again.
Having stayed there a few times, the staff recognized us since the hotel wasn't very large. Bai Qiling and Mu Xuanche were both quite handsome, which often led the female staff to find excuses to come in and clean our rooms.
They knew that Mu Xuanche and I were a couple, so their attention was primarily focused on Bai Qiling. When they saw him enter the hotel with a beautiful woman, I could only imagine how their hearts must have shattered.
We left the lobby and headed to our respective rooms.
As soon as I entered my room, I couldn't help but ask, "Mu Xuanche, what exactly happened today?"
While taking off his clothes, Mu Xuanche replied, "It seems that woman came back and saw Bai Qiling; she couldn't let go of him and followed him secretly."
Unsure of how to respond, I quietly undressed and climbed into bed.
That night was restless; memories of my experiences with Mu Xuanche flooded my dreams, but they were all jumbled and chaotic.
I realized I was affected by the complicated feelings between Bai Qiling and Shangguan Chenxi.
Bai Qiling refused to admit that he had feelings for Shangguan Chenxi. In his subconscious mind, only Shangguan Mingyue was his one true love. Thus, he kept running away while simultaneously softening his heart.
Shangguan Chenxi didn't care whether Bai Qiling was married or if he loved her; chasing after him was exhausting. Yet Bai Qiling inadvertently revealed his concern for her, which only fueled her hope.
I woke up the next morning at seven-thirty; Mu Xuanche was already in the bathroom taking a shower.
Once he came out, I went in to wash up and quickly packed my things before heading out again.
Shangguan Chenxi was still asleep, and he had no idea we had left.
We arrived once more at the outskirts, where the Direct Burial Pit's Tunnel still stood. We gathered some essential tools, such as the Cold Flame Fire Flashlight, and ventured inside.
After digging for a while with our tools, we finally reached the tomb passage.
The Oxygen Tank strapped to my back felt heavy, but despite that, we had to move quickly. We didn’t have much oxygen with us, and our time was limited.
Today's mission was to find that female ghost and force her to reveal the whereabouts of her Ghost Seal.
The reason for the interrogation was that I had deduced from her previous story that she was indeed the Cloud Woman she spoke of, and that high-ranking official must be the Corpse King. After all, his clothing was clearly official attire.
At this point, we were unsure of which direction to take; we were simply following our instincts as there were no forks in the path.
I couldn't tell how long we had been walking when Yan Shengwei suddenly stopped. His voice through the Oxygen Mask sounded muffled, but I could still make out his words: "Boss, this tomb is a filter pit! It's already been looted."
Mu Xuanche also halted his steps. "I didn't sense any fluctuations of spiritual energy; the Ghost Seal should not be here."
Bai Qiling remained silent as Yan Shengwei continued, "Since this isn't what we're looking for, should we head back?"
Mu Xuanche pondered for a moment before asking, "Did you notice any other tombs in Ying County?"
Yan Shengwei shook his head decisively. "No, I'm sure there's only this one."
Mu Xuanche took a few steps forward. "Then let's keep going. We'll find that female ghost and get some answers."
We had no choice but to keep moving forward.
The path was directed by Yan Shengwei, and before long, we arrived at the Chamber, which was empty except for some bronze vessels.
Yan Shengwei exclaimed, "The last group of tomb raiders is really shameless. They must not be legitimate; all the good stuff has basically been taken, and what's left isn't worth anything."
Mu Xuanche whispered, "Forget about that. Keep guiding us. I think that female ghost is probably waiting for us in the main burial chamber."
Hearing Mu Xuanche's words, Yan Shengwei obediently resumed his role as our guide.
The structure of this tomb was far more elaborate than the crude one on Mountain Road; we reached the main burial chamber in just a few steps.
As soon as we entered, I was stunned—there were seven coffins and two large oil jars.
Yan Shengwei spoke again, "This is the Seven Star Suspicion Coffin. Six are fake and one is real, and the six fakes all have mechanisms. However, it's easy to identify which one is real now. Just use a crowbar to pry open the Coffin Lid, drill a hole in the bottom, and probe with an iron hook. Based on what you pull out, you can tell which is genuine."
So Mu Xuanche took the crowbar and went to work as instructed.
I held his hand and said softly, "Be careful."
Mu Xuanche didn't respond verbally but nodded and went with Bai Qiling.
After some effort, we discovered that all seven coffins were fake!
Mu Xuanche angrily threw the crowbar to the ground and shouted, "Come out! Didn't you want us to come? Why are you hiding?"
I stepped forward cautiously and grabbed Mu Xuanche, trying to calm him down.
Suddenly, a seductive woman with long hair appeared atop a coffin.
I was taken aback. Was this the same woman with the surname Yun? The last time I saw her, she had short hair. Had she found a new skin?
I heard her voice, charming and playful: "I'm here now, why are you in such a hurry, dear?"
Mu Xuanche's expression darkened as he coldly replied, "What is your intention in bringing us to this tomb?"
The Long-Haired Woman did not directly answer his question; instead, she glanced at me and said, "You really have quite the ability to find and rescue me."
Then she casually tossed her hair and turned to Mu Xuanche with a coy smile: "You almost caused me to lose this beautiful skin. How will you compensate me for that?"
Mu Xuanche showed a look of disgust and ignored her.
The Long-Haired Woman was unfazed; she simply said, "I know what you want, but I don't have it."
Mu Xuanche shot her a glance and scoffed, "I know you don't have it. I just want to know why you brought us here."
She lightly curled her lips and replied, "Someone wants to use me, but I can benefit from it, so why not go along with it?"
After a pause, she revealed a somewhat sorrowful expression and continued, "However, I no longer wish to be used by them. So I have a request: I ask you to kill me and then destroy this tomb."
Mu Xuanche was taken aback by her words. He had thought entering the tomb would lead to a fierce battle, yet this ghostly woman made such a request.
He did not agree immediately but instead asked, "Why do you make such a request?"
With a melancholic tone, she replied, "I've existed long enough. I'm tired of living like this. Another reason is that if you all leave this tomb, I will still perish. My existence has lost its value to them. Rather than being used up and discarded, dying at your hands would be more dignified."
The Long-Haired Woman took out an object and handed it to Mu Xuanche. "I know you are looking for something very powerful, but I can't tell you where it is. That thing is being guarded by him, and you will inevitably come into conflict with him. He has already caused enough trouble; I don't want him to continue. When the time comes, please show him this Jade Fragment."
With a fearless expression, she closed her eyes.
Mu Xuanche understood her meaning. He took the Jade Fragment and summoned the Devouring Blade, channeling his spiritual energy, causing the Long-Haired Woman to vanish in a burst of bright light.
To be honest, our arrival at this tomb felt rather strange. There were so many twists and turns along the way, yet once we entered the tomb, it turned out to be effortless.
It was all just a lot of noise without much substance.
Although what happened inside the tomb was quite simple, we still did not obtain the Ghost Seal, making our efforts seem utterly meaningless.
After exiting the mausoleum, Mu Xuanche infused his spiritual energy into a casual sword technique. The tomb itself was not as lavishly constructed as the one on Mountain Road, so when he struck with his spiritually charged blade, this poorly made tomb collapsed effortlessly.
