I shyly turned my head away and muttered, "Pervert!"
This guy was talking about morals, but in bed, he was a completely different person.
Mu Xuanche kept teasing me, making my face flush with embarrassment. In his deep, magnetic voice, he said, "Husband only has eyes for one Wife. Are you satisfied, Wife?"
I was so shy that I didn't know how to respond, so I hurriedly changed the subject. "You should go check on Bai Qiling. Did you see how down he looked today? Shouldn't you comfort him?"
Mu Xuanche buried his head in the crook of my neck and mumbled, "Bai is not a child anymore; it's just a relationship issue. Even as a brother, it's not my place to interfere. Let him worry about it himself."
I had only brought up the topic casually and knew that Mu Xuanche wouldn't actually get involved in Bai Qiling's love life, leaving me at a loss for words.
Seeing that I was speechless, Mu Xuanche teased in an ambiguous tone, "Xuan Chexi should focus on herself; Husband hasn't been satisfied for quite some time."
He continued to explore my body with his lips and tongue, and I finally gave up resisting or trying to change the subject. I surrendered myself to the pleasure.
The night passed in warmth and passion.
He truly made me worry about myself, as he kept going without stopping all night long...
When I woke up, it was already afternoon of the second day. He had gone out early in the morning with Yan Shengwei and Bai Qiling to buy tomb raiding supplies as if nothing had happened.
As I woke up, I could hear them discussing tomb raiding matters in the next room.
After getting dressed and freshening up, I went to the next room and was curious about all the unfamiliar items they had brought back.
Mu Xuanche pulled me into his arms when he saw me and asked with a satisfied expression, "Xuan Chexi, have you rested well? You worked hard last night."
I felt a blush creeping onto my face as I broke free from his embrace, diverting my attention to the jumbled pile of items on the ground.
I picked up a slender iron tool that resembled a rapier and asked, "What is this?"
Yan Shengwei appeared quite excited and replied, "This is an iron probe used for exploration."
Upon hearing it was related to tomb raiding, my interest piqued, and I pressed further, "What is it used for?"
Yan Shengwei eagerly began to explain, "Sister-in-law, don’t underestimate this little thing; it has great utility! This is a favorite tool of the Dirt Expert. It can be extended and then inserted into the ground. If it encounters something, the Dirt Expert will know about the distribution of sand, stones, and objects in that area. Impressive, right?"
Although I didn’t find it particularly remarkable, I responded with a polite, "Impressive," to avoid dampening his enthusiasm.
Yan Shengwei seemed oblivious to my lack of excitement and moved aside to rummage through other items.
Forgetting the earlier awkwardness, I turned to Mu Xuanche and asked, "When are we going into the tomb?"
Mu Xuanche kissed my left cheek gently and said softly, "Let’s rest for the night; we’ll go tomorrow morning."
I nodded obediently in agreement.
At that moment, Bai Qiling stood up and walked outside. I asked, "Hey Bai Qiling, where are you going?"
Without turning back, Bai Qiling waved his cigarette box and replied, "I’m going out for a smoke."
Watching Bai Qiling leave filled me with a sense of melancholy; perhaps yesterday's confession and today's abrupt departure were a bit cruel for Shangguan Chenxi.
This outcome was likely not what Bai Qiling wanted to see.
I glanced at Mu Xuanche, worried. "Will this put any psychological burden on Bai Qiling?"
Mu Xuanche wrapped his arm around my shoulders, resting his chin on my head, and said softly, "Don't worry. Qiling isn't the type to get stuck on things. He just needs some time to himself."
Although I felt a bit anxious, I didn't take any action.
I wasn't sure whether Shangguan Chenxi or Mingyue would be better for him. Personally, I hoped he could be with Mingyue because she was my friend.
But it seemed that Mingyue didn't like him.
You can't wake someone who is asleep, and you certainly can't make someone who doesn't like you feel happy being with you. I didn't know if being with Shangguan Mingyue would make him happier or if he would be happier with Shangguan Chenxi.
Forget it; these weren't my concerns. A forced relationship is never sweet. Their entanglements should just unfold naturally.
After returning to the room with Mu Xuanche, I had no idea when Bai Qiling went back to his room.
Early in the morning, Mu Xuanche and I got up and after washing up, we went next door to find them.
The big guy and Yan Shengwei were fiddling with a bunch of strange and messy tomb-raiding tools. Yan Shengwei looked excited, and I asked in confusion, "Hey Yan Shengwei, what's so exciting about raiding a tomb?"
Seeing us arrive, Yan Shengwei replied with a hint of excitement in his tone, "I was born into a family of tomb raiders, but this is my first serious tomb raid. How can I not be excited?"
I really couldn't understand Yan Shengwei's feelings, so I just sat down on the sofa and stayed quiet.
Not long after, Bai Qiling also arrived, looking exhausted with dark circles under his eyes and some frightening bloodshot veins. It seemed he hadn't slept well all night.
Well, I decided not to worry about such matters anymore. So I didn't look at him much and busied myself rummaging through the things in my bag.
Mu Xuanche and Bai Qiling had no luggage to speak of, so they simply sat on one side waiting for Yan Shengwei to pack away the tomb raiding tools.
Fortunately, Yan Shengwei was quick on his feet, and we didn’t have to wait long. After checking out of the hotel, we set off to find the tomb in Ying County that the Long Hair Faceless Ghost had mentioned.
Since the female ghost was unclear about the exact location of the tomb, this was where Yan Shengwei's usefulness became apparent.
We took Yan Shengwei around the outskirts of this not-so-large city, where he carefully observed the terrain before finally pinpointing a specific area.
According to him, Ying County had its pros and cons.
The area he indicated was considered a Dragon Vein. If buried here, it would bless future generations; however, there was a fatal flaw: if the position wasn’t chosen correctly, it could lead to a Xuanwu's Corpse Rejection Disaster.
The terrain he described resembled a turtle and was itself a Dragon Vein. If buried in a place where the Dragon Vein did not extend, it could bring disaster to descendants.
Upon arriving at that desolate area, Yan Shengwei and the burly man began unloading tools from the trunk without further ado.
They casually picked a flat spot and dug in with a shovel.
When they pulled up the earth, Yan Shengwei struggled a bit, prompting the burly man to lend a hand.
After they finally brought up some soil, Yan Shengwei turned around, drenched in sweat, and said to us, “The soil down there is very moist, which is why I had difficulty pulling it up just now.”
He then turned back and grabbed a handful of dirt from the Luoyang Shovel, bringing it to his nose for a sniff. His expression suddenly changed to one of concern as he hurried over to Mu Xuanche. “Boss, we can’t go down there yet!”
Mu Xuanche raised an eyebrow in question.
Yan Shengwei threw the damp soil onto the ground and took a deep breath. “This tomb is a sealed pit. You might not know what that means; it refers to a pit where medicinal herbs used for preservation have exerted their properties. There’s a high chance that it produces a mysterious gas denser than air. I’m not sure what this gas is exactly, but it’s harmful to humans. At first, you won’t feel anything, but as you go deeper, you’ll start losing strength—heart failure will set in quickly down there!”
I felt a chill run down my spine. If it weren't for Yan Shengwei, someone from a family of tomb raiders, we would definitely be unaware of these things. Mu Xuanche, now in a human body, would also be harmed by these unknown gases.
I eagerly pressed on, "So you mean we can't possibly enter this tomb? Is there any way to avoid it?"
Yan Shengwei replied, "It's not that we can't go in; as long as we don't breathe the air inside, we'll be fine. We can prepare some Oxygen Tanks and bring plenty with us. Who knows how long we'll be inside? If we don't bring enough, our lives could be at stake."
Without hesitation, Mu Xuanche led us back to the car and returned to Ying County Urban Area to find a place to buy Oxygen Tanks.
We filled the trunk to capacity before leaving.
