I could sense that these few individuals were unlikely to be the masterminds behind this matter; they were too irritable, leaving flaws everywhere.
“Nephew, is it really okay for you to treat Shishu like this?”
When I spoke, he froze for a moment, his hand that was about to pull the trigger also halted.
I then turned to the tall man beside him. Seeing his figure, I immediately recognized him; after all, I had observed him for an entire night.
“Li Yun, what’s this? Do you have to wear a Mask just to see me now?”
His body stiffened slightly at my words. Li Yun reached up and removed the Mask from his face, a cold smile spreading across his lips.
“Gu Fourth Uncle, how did you recognize me?”
There was no need to be polite or give face to someone like him. “Traitor, you really have the guts to betray Xuanzong. Do you know what your fate will be?”
He wore a calm expression. “Do I need to know? Shishu, perhaps you should consider your own situation.”
The Nephew beside him patted Li Yun on the shoulder and said, “Since Shishu already knows, there’s no need for us to hide anything. Let’s give Shishu a quick end.”
After he finished speaking, those around us burst into cold laughter, mocking us.
If I were to get angry at that moment, it would only mean that my intelligence was on par with theirs.
“Li Yun, Shishu has no grievances with you. Could you please answer one question for Shishu so I can understand what’s going on?”
Seizing the opportunity, I began negotiating with Li Yun, unsure if he would fall for it.
Arrogant Li Yun, at this moment, seemed completely oblivious to everything around him. My words were nothing more than a joke to him.
He stared at me and mockingly replied, "Alright, Shishu, consider this your farewell gift. Don’t come looking for me once you’re down there."
Suddenly, I felt a wave of anxiety wash over me as I held my breath, waiting for his response.
Just as Li Yun was about to speak, someone beside him grabbed his arm and shot him a glare. Instantly, he shut his mouth.
Nephew waved his hand, and everyone pulled the triggers simultaneously.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The gunfire erupted, but we were not the ones hit. All the guns fired upwards the moment the triggers were pulled.
The men in black were momentarily stunned, completely caught off guard by why their guns had aimed skyward when they had pulled the triggers.
They exchanged confused glances, each of them bewildered.
I walked over to Nephew with a light laugh, standing before him and touching the gun in his hand while looking at him with amusement.
"Nephew, it seems that Xuanzong's training hasn’t been sufficient for you. You haven’t even learned how to fire a gun properly."
His face darkened instantly before flushing with embarrassment, a colorful display that was quite striking.
I patted him on the shoulder and spun around.
"Ah,"
A piercing scream erupted from his mouth as I dislocated his arm. The gun in his hand was swiftly transferred to mine, and I pressed it against his head.
"Nephew, would you like me to teach you how to shoot?"
His face contorted in fear, he pleaded with me, "Shishu, this is all a misunderstanding. Nephew was just joking with you. Why take it so seriously?"
I deliberately darkened my expression. "You dare call me old?"
He immediately waved his hands in surrender. "No, no! It was my mistake. Shishu, you are as beautiful as a flower, and you look only eighteen!"
Such a person was hardly worth my effort; I couldn't be bothered to waste my breath on him.
Using the Illusion technique I learned from Bai Qiling, I cast a spell on them all, putting them into a trance.
Everyone obediently returned to the mountain.
Fortunately, my persistent efforts to learn this trick from Bai Qiling finally paid off.
I gathered all the disciples in the main hall while Li Yun and the others were ordered to kneel before Ancestor Master and remain still.
The summoned disciples looked confused, and one bold person stepped forward to speak.
"Shishu, didn't you leave? Why are you back now?"
I explained the entire situation to everyone, including the trap I had set and how I had captured Li Yun and the others.
Some of the disciples found it hard to believe that Li Yun could do such a thing and began to defend him.
"Shishu, could it be that you made a mistake? Senior Brother Li has always been kind-hearted; how could he possibly do something like this?" Some comments were more polite than others, while harsher words were also thrown around.
"Shishu, even though you are our Shishu, you can't use your status to wrongfully accuse someone. Just because you are afraid for your life doesn't mean everyone else is."
Hearing the implications in his words, I couldn't help but feel grateful that Mu Xuanche had stopped me back then. Otherwise, facing this group of idiots who couldn't distinguish right from wrong would have driven me to the brink of bloodshed from anger.
I was too lazy to argue with them and directly played the recorded video.
At that moment, everyone was stunned. Li Yun and the others, kneeling on the ground, lowered their heads in resignation. The truth was undeniable.
This time, all the disciples were furious.
To think that people they had known for years were actually traitors who had killed their fellow Senior Brothers was something that could hardly be considered human.
They charged at Li Yun and his group, unleashing a flurry of punches and kicks.
I did not intervene; there was no need to stop them.
Man needs bloodlust; they have been suppressed for too long. If hitting them can awaken their bloodlust, that wouldn't be bad.
Seeing that they were about to beat the person to death, I finally stepped in to stop them.
"Enough, don't hit him anymore."
I don't know if it was my loud voice or the authority I had just established, but at my command, everyone stopped and stepped back.
The hardest part of being in a high position is mastering the art of control; it's incredibly difficult to win these people's hearts. If I were to be overly fierce, it wouldn't work either.
I lowered my voice and explained, "We can't kill him; he still has his uses. I need to interrogate him and find out if there's anything else."
As soon as I explained this, everyone understood instantly and nodded in agreement, saying, "Shishu is right; this is the way to do it."
I instructed my disciples to imprison several individuals in the Xuan Sect's dungeon, each one separated because I wanted to interrogate them personally.
The first person I encountered was Li Yun. Perhaps I could find some clues by questioning him.
Once inside the cell, he didn't even glance at me. I didn't take it personally.
I settled down beside him, comfortably leaning against the wall, remaining silent to see who would crack first.
After a while, he finally couldn't hold back and asked me,
"You're sitting so close to me, aren't you afraid I might kill you?"
I smiled lightly. "You're quite honest. Just take a look outside."
Mu Xuanche was sitting outside, sipping tea, his eyes fixed intently on this place. Not a single movement from Li Yun could escape his gaze.
I believed that as soon as Li Yun dared to make a move, Mu Xuanche would be ready to crush his neck.
Li Yun hung his head helplessly, looking resigned. "Go ahead and kill me, or chop me up. It's my bad luck; I don't care."
Seeing his attitude, I found it particularly amusing.
Criminals in this world always feel like the whole world owes them something. When they get caught for their wrongdoings, they think it's just bad luck and never reflect on their own actions.
Thinking of this made me angry. I grabbed him by the neck and stared at him.
"Do you really think you did nothing wrong? That dead person was your fellow disciple. He called you 'senior brother' for so long, and yet you skinned him alive. Aren't you afraid he'll come back to haunt you?"
He kept banging his head against the wall with both hands cradling it, mumbling to himself, "It wasn't me. I didn't do it. I didn't skin Lin Yue. It wasn't me; really, it wasn't me."
In an instant, I grasped a piece of information and immediately countered, "If it wasn't you, then it must be Tang Li."
Tang Li was the name of Nephew; I had just learned it from other disciples.
He didn't respond to me, but silence was an answer in itself.
"This topic is over; let's move on to the next question. Who exactly sent you to retrieve the beads from Sharkman?"
As soon as I asked this, he immediately buried his head, unable to look at me.
It seemed that I couldn't get anything out of Li Yun today, so I continued to Tang Li's cell.
Li Yun was nothing like Tang Li; he was extremely irritable and particularly ruthless.
As soon as I walked in, he lunged at me, trying to bite.
However, he was kicked against the wall by Mu Xuanche, who followed behind me. Blood sprayed out, and he couldn't even stand.
I stared at him. "Tang Li, perhaps we can play a little game of Peeling."
