The dagger flew towards me at an incredible speed, aimed directly at my head, leaving me with almost no chance to dodge.
However, just as it reached my face, it suddenly stopped.
The dagger hovered in front of me, suspended in mid-air, completely motionless.
Curiously, I reached out to push the dagger, and it felt as if it were frozen in the air.
Heh heh! Heh heh...
A crisp laugh echoed through the air, sounding distinctly like a man's voice.
"Who’s laughing?" I shouted loudly.
A red shadow slowly materialized from the void in the air, and a hand began to appear on the hilt of the dagger.
Long, slender fingers, pale and delicate, with distinct joints that were particularly striking.
Dressed in a bright red outfit that accentuated his snow-white skin, his beautiful demon-like face was enough to make any woman envious.
I recognized him immediately—it was Chuchen, the one who had kissed me out of nowhere and left me tormented by Mu Xuanche all night. What was he doing here?
The dagger spun rapidly between his fingers, creating a silver glint before being thrown right above Gu Baor's head.
Gu Baor was so startled that he froze in place; no one expected such a demon to burst onto the scene.
With his hands free, Chuchen lifted my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze.
"Woman, we meet again."
Chuchen was not handsome; he was beautiful, the kind of beauty that made it impossible to look away after just one glance. A beauty that appealed to both men and women, radiating an air of nobility with every gesture that left people in awe.
I recalled that night when Mu Xuanche had tormented me in various positions, my body trembling uncontrollably. Chuchen was too much of a Demon; it was better for me not to provoke him.
I shook off his hand that was gripping my chin and walked over to help Shangguan Mingyue up.
"Are you tearing down the bridge after crossing it, woman?"
Chuchen's voice echoed behind me. Shangguan Mingyue kept signaling me with her eyes, asking who he was.
I silently shook my head; I didn’t know either.
Gu Baor, who had been ignored for a while, finally exploded in anger, his long hair flying wildly in the air.
"You all deserve to die."
However, this time it wasn't Shangguan Mingyue and me who took action. By the time Gu Baor uttered those words, Chuchen had already charged forward.
Gu Baor flailed around wildly, but Chuchen remained remarkably calm, swinging his large hands as if dancing with the long red sleeves of his attire flowing gracefully through the air. He expressed his dissatisfaction with Gu Baor's chaotic fighting style, complaining, "It's bad enough that you're ugly; you fight like this too."
Shangguan Mingyue leaned closer to me with great interest and asked, "Where did you find such a powerful Demon?"
"How would I know where this gentleman popped up from? I'm not familiar with him at all."
Shangguan Mingyue wrinkled her nose in disbelief. "Not familiar? Then why is he so attached to you?"
She even reached out her finger to mimic Chuchen's gesture of gripping my chin.
Fuming, I swatted her hand away and shouted, "Is this ever going to end? I really don't know him!"
Seeing that I was about to lose my temper, Shangguan Mingyue finally believed me and asked again, "You really don't know him?"
"I don't know him well. I've only seen him once. Last time he fought against Mu Xuanche, and that's when I saw him."
"If he can fight with your Underworld Husband, then this person's skills must be quite impressive."
In our conversation, we hadn't paid attention to Chuchen. By the time we realized what was happening, Gu Baor was already kneeling on the ground, with Chuchen forcing her down, pressing a hand firmly on her head.
Flames continuously erupted from his palm, burning Gu Baor's soul. She wore an expression of agony, struggling helplessly.
"This is bad."
Shangguan Mingyue suddenly shouted, startling me into asking, "What happened?"
She pointed at Chuchen. "That Demon is going to burn Gu Baor's Primordial Spirit out."
"Primordial Spirit? What will happen if it gets burned out? Will Gu Baor's Soul Disperse?"
Shangguan Mingyue nodded in shock. "This soul dispersing is far worse than just scattering her soul. A ghost has to endure tremendous suffering before it dies; it's too cruel."
If even Shangguan Mingyue found it cruel, one could only imagine the pain involved. I wanted to rush over and stop Chuchen, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't break through his encirclement. It felt as if an invisible barrier of glass was blocking my way. Right now, Chuchen seemed far more terrifying than Mu Xuanche.
Though Mu Xuanche was cold, I didn't feel the threat of death around him.
But here with Chuchen, I could guarantee that if I forced my way in, I would be the next one to die.
In just a few seconds, a golden sphere slowly emerged from above Gu Baor's head and was drawn into Chuchen's hand.
Chuchen withdrew his hand, and Gu Baor collapsed to the ground, soon turning to dust and disappearing.
Chuchen turned around and walked toward me with an excited expression. My heart raced, and my hands trembled uncontrollably as I slowly stepped back.
"Are you afraid of me, woman?"
I nodded honestly; I was indeed afraid of him, afraid he might strike.
Ha ha! Ha ha!
My response elicited a wild laugh from Chuchen. In a flash, he was right in front of me. With a flick of his red sleeve, he leaned in close to my ear and whispered in his uniquely alluring voice, "You are truly adorable."
I turned my head away, the chill emanating from him sending shivers down my spine.
He pressed one hand against the wall, enclosing me within his space.
His deep-set eyes glimmered like golden strands of a cat's fur as they fixed on me, a charming smile playing at the corners of his mouth. His lips were thicker than Mu Xuanche's, somewhat sensual and particularly red.
"How about you abandon that icy monster and come with me?"
As he leaned closer, his lips almost touching my face, I slowly slid down along the wall.
I would rather take a beating than be cornered by an unfamiliar man.
Unexpectedly, Chuchen noticed my movement and grabbed my shoulder, lifting me up.
In that critical moment, I put the Bone Whistle to my lips and blew into it.
The clear sound of the Bone Whistle made Chuchen furrow his brow. He shook his head and said to me, "You are quite mischievous."
I cursed that Demon hundreds of times in my heart, damn it.
His gaze shifted to my neck, and just when I thought he was going to tease me again, he simply lifted the Bone Whistle hanging from my chest and took a look at it.
I snatched the Bone Whistle back; it was a gift from Mu Xuanche, and no one else could touch it carelessly.
I was so angry that I wanted to hit Chuchen, but he had no regard for anyone's expression as he grinned at me and said, "Woman, I didn't expect that ice mountain monster to treat you so well. I'm really envious—so envious that I could just kill you."
His cold voice made me tense up completely. I shivered, unable to discern what this Demon really meant.
I thought it would be better for me to leave first; staying with this Demon could lead to unknown trouble.
Just a few steps out, I was stopped by the Demon. He grabbed the collar of my clothes from behind, not letting me move.
I struggled desperately forward, my eyes wide open, while Shangguan Mingyue didn’t dare come over to save me.
Defeated, I lowered my head and let him drag me back.
In an instant, I felt the temperature drop sharply ahead of me, and a familiar aura enveloped me.
Excitedly lifting my head, I indeed saw Mu Xuanche's handsome face, instantly bringing joy to my heart.
"You came," I said, my tone filled with excitement that even I could feel.
Sensing that the atmosphere was a bit off, Mu Xuanche's expression darkened as I recalled that Demon behind me. A wave of grievance surged within me; I held back my tears and shouted at Mu Xuanche, "Hurry and save me! He’s bullying me," pointing at Chuchen behind us.
In a moment of panic, I was suddenly swept away in a whirl and found myself back in Mu Xuanche's embrace.
Looking up at Chuchen, I saw his face had indeed turned into an ugly grimace.
I tugged at Mu Xuanche's sleeve and reported, "Husband, beat him up! This guy is bullying me."
Mu Xuanche glanced down at me coldly, and my heart trembled as I wondered what he meant by that. Then he reached out and gently touched the top of my head, as if to comfort me.
A hint of tenderness flashed in his obsidian-like eyes, and it seemed my flattery was quite effective on him.
"Haha, Ice Mountain Monster, I really like this woman of yours. Why not give her to me? Or we can trade; you can have whatever you want," Chuchen said from across the room, a smug expression on his face as he kept throwing flirtatious glances at me.
"I'll come find you later," Mu Xuanche whispered in my ear before charging at Chuchen.
The two of them fought fiercely, with Mu Xuanche being particularly ruthless as he tore Chuchen's red clothes to shreds.
Chuchen instantly exploded with rage, his eyes wide as he shouted, "Mu Xuanche, are you serious?"
"How dare you covet my woman? I'll take your life!" Mu Xuanche retorted through gritted teeth.
The fight escalated, leaving the room in chaos, but they were still unsatisfied. They flew out the window and disappeared from sight.
Seeing Mu Xuanche's demeanor, I knew he wouldn't be at a disadvantage, so I didn't worry too much.
We still had to clean up the mess in the room; first, we needed to deal with this situation.
Li Kui and the others were basically scared out of their wits, especially Madam Zhou, whose eyes kept rolling back in her head as she hung there in a half-fainting state, looking like she could die from fright at any moment.
I quickly arranged for Zhou Ziqing to take her to the living room and fed her some Soothing Tea.
Then I called for Li Kui to help Shangguan Mingyue lift Boss Zhou onto the bed.
Shangguan Mingyue handed Li Kui several talismans and instructed him to burn them into ashes for everyone to drink a bowl each. However, Boss Zhou had to drink eight bowls. If he couldn't manage it, they would have to force it down him; otherwise, he wouldn't survive.
Under the threat of Shangguan Mingyue, the Zhou Family obediently complied.
Originally, Shangguan Mingyue and I planned to leave tonight, but unexpectedly, the Zhou Family begged us with tears to stay for one more night. Reluctantly, we decided to spend the night at their home.
On the morning of the twenty-first, chaos erupted in the Zhou household.
Boss Zhou had been suffering from severe vomiting and diarrhea since late last night. The Zhou Family wanted to wake us up to check on him, but they were driven out by Shangguan Mingyue, who was in a terrible mood after being disturbed.
Early in the morning, just as my alarm clock rang, I heard a loud banging on the door.
"Who is it? It's so early."
"Gu Daxian, it's bad! My dad... he’s in trouble."
