At the appointed time, I arrived with Shangguan Mingyue, carrying a bundle of evidence to meet Jiang Sisi.
On the platform of the teaching building, a cool breeze flowed gently. Jiang Sisi, having unsealed her talisman, sat quietly on the railing.
Her white outfit was stained with dried blood, resembling a bewitching black rose, and her long hair floated eerily around her.
Perhaps sensing our arrival, she turned around. Her once pale face had darkened considerably. The hostility in her brows intensified, and I silently rejoiced that I hadn't agreed to her request yesterday.
Although the Lin family was despicable, they should be dealt with through legal means.
"You've come," Jiang Sisi greeted us as she approached.
I stepped forward and bluntly told her, "I'm sorry, but we can't help you break the seal."
As soon as I spoke, the atmosphere around Jiang Sisi became terrifying. Shangguan Mingyue quietly pulled me back a step from behind.
"Don't get agitated; listen to me. I have a way to help you take revenge. Will you trust me?"
A flicker of hostility flashed in Jiang Sisi's eyes as she replied sharply, "Revenge? What makes you think you can help me? I want them all dead. Don't they deserve to die for what they've done to me?"
"I have evidence that could put the Lin family behind bars. Can we help you get your revenge?"
I handed over the file that Mu Xuanche had given me to Jiang Sisi, hoping it would make her pause.
"Retribution, ha! Retribution has come; Lin Qing Neng can have this day—what great retribution indeed." She laughed maniacally, her long hair swirling chaotically in the air as her eyes slowly turned red.
In the end, Jiang Sisi accepted the evidence. She gave us time to consider and hoped we would grant her some time as well.
After discussing with Shangguan Mingyue, we agreed to proceed.
I went to meet my sponsor while Shangguan Mingyue headed to her own appointment.
I had already taken a leave yesterday, and I couldn't afford to take another one today.
As soon as I entered the classroom, the counselor called me into the office. She slammed a photo down in front of me, glaring angrily.
"Gu Yanxi, what is going on with you? How can you engage in such superstitious activities at school?"
The photo showed me and Shangguan Mingyue performing a ritual for Ruo Qing. Dressed in a robe, Shangguan Mingyue looked mystical, while I held incense in my hands, making it seem like we were indeed involved in something superstitious.
What puzzled me was who could have taken these photos. Even if Shangguan Mingyue and I were unaware, Ruo Qing, as a spirit, should have sensed it too. And what did Ruo Qing mean by "the people around your heart"?
"Gu Yanxi! Gu Yanxi! Are you even listening to me?"
The counselor's frantic voice snapped me back to reality.
I was about to explain everything when my phone rang. A glance revealed it was a call from Shangguan Mingyue.
This woman only called me in emergencies. I shot an apologetic look at the counselor and answered the call.
Shangguan Mingyue's loud voice came through, insisting that I needed to get to Lin Qing Neng's house immediately because Jiang Sisi had shown up.
With lives at stake, I couldn't worry about the counselor threatening to suspend me from classes. I rushed straight to Lin Qing Neng's house.
Fortunately, I had seen his address while researching him earlier, so I knew where to go.
When I arrived, Shangguan Mingyue had just gotten there as well. I quickly asked her what was happening.
She explained, "I was worried that Jiang Sisi would retaliate recklessly, so I placed something on her. As soon as she tries to break the seal, I'll know."
I walked into the Lin family home with her, the front door wide open. A sense of foreboding washed over me, and I quickened my pace.
As we stepped inside, a heavy stench of blood hit us like a wall, and the scene before us left us in shock.
Jiang Sisi stood above, while Lin Qing Neng knelt below, his lower body soaked in blood as he repeatedly bowed his head.
Behind Lin Qing Neng lay two others: one was Lin Qing Neng's wife, covered in wounds, and the other was a teenager who had already fainted.
Jiang Sisi looked down at the kneeling Lin Qing Neng with an excited expression, a mocking smile playing at her lips. When she noticed us entering, her demeanor faltered for just a moment before she burst into laughter.
"Jiang Sisi, stop this," I said, feeling my last shred of sympathy vanish when I saw the teenager lying on the ground.
She looked at me, her laughter wild. "Stop? Hahaha! Why don’t you just tell them to die faster?"
Shangguan Mingyue glanced at me; she was about to intervene against Jiang Sisi, but I stopped her.
This was all a result of my mercy; it was only right that I be the one to end it.
I dashed forward, dragging the kneeling Lin Qing Neng away and handing him over to Shangguan Mingyue for protection.
Jiang Sisi let out a furious scream and charged at me. I felt no fear. At that moment, my determination to subdue Jiang Sisi overshadowed everything else.
I recalled the techniques from Liu Daozhang's book and unleashed a Binding Ghost Technique towards Jiang Sisi. However, she merely paused for a second before breaking free and continued her charge at me, disdain etched on her face.
"Is that all you've got? You think you can subdue me?"
I gritted my teeth, gripping Shiro tightly as I waited for an opportunity.
Jiang Sisi seemed aware of her advantage; she didn’t approach me directly but instead formed a circle of ghostly energy around me. She intended to trap me within her ghostly aura. Shangguan Mingyue attempted to come to my aid but I refused her help.
Because once she came over, the Lin family of three would surely be doomed.
In this critical moment, I yanked the Bone Whistle from around my neck and threw it towards Jiang Sisi's ghostly circle.
Bang!
A powerful gust of wind surged forth, shattering her ghostly circle.
In that moment of distraction, I charged at her, holding Shiro tightly.
Jiang Sisi dodged in mid-air, but I wouldn't let her escape as she flew down from the upper floor.
Ignoring the height of the two-story building, I jumped after her. My mind was set on one thing: to personally send Jiang Sisi to the underworld.
I lunged forward and pinned Jiang Sisi down, but unexpectedly, she turned her head and bit down hard on my arm.
Blood splattered instantly, and the pain made it almost impossible for me to hold onto Shiro.
Yet Jiang Sisi on the ground seemed paralyzed as if poisoned, unable to move.
Her entire face twisted in extreme agony, as if she were about to lose her soul at any moment.
After letting out a heart-wrenching scream, she weakly collapsed to the side, all strength drained from her body. Her once fierce expression turned pale as death.
What was happening? I hadn't even stabbed Shiro into her yet, and she was already on the brink of death?
I grabbed Jiang Sisi by the collar and demanded to know what was going on.
She whispered softly in my ear, "I truly envy you for having such a man who loves you so much, but it's a pity you don't know how to cherish him."
I grabbed Jiang Sisi and shouted, "What do you mean?"
She let out a cold laugh, then closed her eyes and turned to ashes.
I turned to Shangguan Mingyue and yelled, "What's wrong with her?"
Shangguan Mingyue waved her hands at me, "Her soul has scattered. I didn't expect you to have some skills after all."
After dealing with Jiang Sisi, we left Lin Manor.
I was still in a hurry to go back and apologize to my counselor; the earlier incident hadn't been resolved yet.
Shangguan Mingyue originally wanted to accompany me, but I refused. It was better for her not to appear in the photo at this time.
I waited for over an hour in the counselor's office before I finally saw him walk back in, looking disheveled and angry.
I quickly ran up to him, putting on a flattering expression, "Yang Dao, I'm here to apologize."
